This is getting rediculous. If it takes that long for perfection from two legends then somethings wrong. All the people who think they know so much above this project odviously don't. I'm tired of so much diffirent information. I was just getting excited about November. Does anyone have some solid info. Accounding to the Aftermath site Rakims release date is now sometime in 2003. If thats true, thats fucked up.

yeah i know, after all its only a rap album. not like it's a movie or a book. i bet it doesn't even sell that well anyway

You can't rush perfection, aslong as it's dope (which it will be) then who cares if it sells. Yeah, it's annoying waiting, but look how long Dre took to release "2001" and look how classic an album that turned out to be. Just have patience guys, i'm sure it'll be worth the wait in the end.

this is an album i dont mind waiting for, i mean it gets annoying when they say a date and then it gets delayed with most albums, but i dont mind waiting for this cause when it drops it will be a classic
same goes for detox

If it takes this long for one album then I guess we should'nt exspect any more from Rakim. How long do you think he'll do this. Dre has already announced his retirement from the mic after Detox. At this rate, if it was another Ra album after "Oh my God" then it would be in 2006 and Ra will be how old then.

i also think rakims album wont sell that much...
his first single may get pretty good radio rotation and mtv airplay...
but that's it...
i doubt this album will sell that much...
but that doesnt mean shit for the quality of the album..
it's just like all these new cats to da game
aint knowin shit bout OG Rakim...puttin it down for 20years now...
i hope dre wont mess this album up...

it'll sell somewhere between gold and plat probably... but i could care less what it sells... i hate waiting for it, but i waited 6 years for a masta ace album and got the best album i'd heard since 1996 so.... it'll be worth the wait i think.

Why do u find that funny? I also belive it wont sell so great...I mean I know for a fact it will be a classic...But Rakim doesnt put out music for the mainstream audience...I say it goes no more than 1X platinum, which is bad for how long it's taking too make it...PeAcE

I CAN WAIT TILL 2003 FOR OH MY GOD. I BEEN WAITING FOR TEN YEARS FOR DRE AND RAKIM TO WORK TOGETHER EVER SINCE SINCE DRE SAID IT IN 92. IT WILL PROB GO 2X PLATINUM BUT THATS IT. RAKIM DOESNT MAKE HIS MUSIC FOR THE MASSES. HE JUST WANTS THE RESPECT WHICH HE WILL GET. BE PATIENCE, I KNOW I BEEN.

I actually think this might sell pretty well, I mean think about it, Dre's affiliation will give it a good start, then you have Rakim who is renouned for being one of the greatest MC's to ever grace a mic, think of all the old skool fans of his that will no doubt pic this up, then you have the fans from his more recent releases, thats quite a big audience there. Then you have the hip-hop fans that buy every new release, and with the hype and anticipation that is starting to build around this release you just know it's gonna attract an even bigger audience. I think this is gonna be one of the biggest releases ever, I think this has the potential to be up there with "The Chronic", "Doggystyle", "All Eyez On Me" etc in terms of hype and anticipation. People are already feinding for it, this thread being a perfect example ;D
-
ya'll got to understand something......mellowman said they will not release a single until it is perfect by what dre said.....you got a lot of mainstream cats comin out wit singles nowadays whos music isnt that good and sell a shit load of records just because tha shyt is catchy right.....so look if ya'll dont think dre n ra arent gonna pop somethin off ya'll got to b crazy.....it dont matter how deep rakim is or how long he been in da game, if somethins hot the people know it......a lot of people personally told me on da east coast that rakim made the song addictive.....im lookin for 3-4 platinum if not more
peace

ME PERSONALLY, I THINK 2003 IS A BETTER RELEASE THAN WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ON NOV 12 OR 19! GIVES DRE & RAKIM MORE TIME TO MAKE THAT CLASSIC ALBUM! I DONT WANT THEM RUSHING THE ALBUM LIKE SOME INDUSTRY CATS. THEY MAKING A HIP HOP CLASSIC, NOT A HIP POP CLASSIC!
