Now that we know Detox is on the way, I'm just curious to see what ya'll think are some of Dre's best recent instrumentals, possibly ones that you may think would've been worthy of 'Detox' consideration...
( The Setup, Shit Hits The Fan, Look In My Eyes, Oh!, Poppin' Them Thangs, G'd Up, American Psycho II, Evil Deeds, Never Enough, Mosh, Rain Man, Big Weenie, Just Lose It, Ass Like That, Encore, Rich Girl, Westside Story, Higher, How We Do, Start From Scratch and Don't Worry )
I'm going with Poppin' Them Thangs, G'd Up, American Psycho II, Encore, Higher & Start From Scratch...Oh! sounds like it fits in with the Detox-style of mixing, same for Don't Worry. Beats like Shit Hits The Fan & Westside Story are banging, but better suited for what they were used for - street singles. For the most part, Dre's bringing the heat, and it can only get better, imo.

I think the Oh! beat is outstanding but as much as i'm feeling dre's new stuff i really hope there's some westcoast left on the detox. The dre produced tune on knocturnals album (i like) is maybe the best example of dre's new sound (subtle bass) mixed with a classic westcoast feel and i'm feeling that beat a lot too. Don't Worry uses a very subtle bassline in much the same way and that's a great beat but again a very chilled out vibe.
The best Dre beat lately, imo, is How We Do. Its minimal drums and deep bass works perfectly with the melody and it aint no accident its the lead single off The Game's cd. Dre seems to up the quality when its needed and hopefully Detox keeps this level throughout and on a personal level i'd like to see the return of the funk for atleast some of the cd.

How We Do
-
"Higher" is the only one I really like.
-
all dre beats are fucking bad and yall fucking faggots know it the Encore was good ass fuck thoguh i know the best he saved for hemself i love all dre beats. 8)
-
I actually think he gave his best to G-Unit.
'Poppin Them Thangs' and (especially) 'G'd Up' were amazing beats. For me, Dre's beats on Devil's Night and The Eminem Show were reasonably weak. Those on Get Rich Or Die Tryin and Cheers were dope, but it wasn't until Beg For Mercy that I was like "Dre's back".

Higher or Evil Deeds

Actually, "I Like" was recorded way back in the year 2001, but it's ahead of it's time in some aspects. It's beats like that, where everytime I listen to them, I hear something new.

I'd have to say Oh.
I think that's the most rediculous beat he's come up with since he left death row. Every verse he adds another instrument, that beat is just crazy.
-
and also all the beats he did for get rich or die tryin,
You guys are right, 50 knows how to pick a dre beat
-
Oh, Higher, Never Enough...and am I the only one who thought that Big Weenie beat on Eminems album was dope as fuck?
-
"G'd Up", "Westside Story", "American Psycho 2" and "The Set Up" are the best...
-
Lately, Dre's really been using a lot of keyboard sounds, like various piano melodies. You can tell when Dre's working with Scott Storch, we get those thumping loops ( Poppin' Them Thangs, Westside Story & parts of How We Do ), and then there's the dark, light keys that twinkle along ( G'd Up, Start From Scratch )...Dre always comes correct on drums, too. Illest drums he's mixed up recently...hmm, Shit Hits The Fan had some tight drums, both G-Unit tracks as well. The beat for Encore's got a sick drum pattern, but How We Do kills it with the 808's. Sickest strings\violins = How We Do & Start From Scratch.
