before answering, think a second
this song, it's not what westcoast heads love. they love funkadelic gang bang hip hop, but lets think about the success of this song.
Yes, it's catchy
Yes, we all drive our invisible steering wheel when the pigs try to get us
Yes, well show off our rollys
Yes, we all pour our invisible glass of Chandon
Yes, we all roll the best weed
because, well ....... we got it going on.
And well, half us don't rap to the song, most of us just say "Snooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooop"
or
we pretend we made the beat by well, clicking our tongues back and forth... looking like retards.....
you see, the thing is that well... Snoop made a 'pop' song... but to a lot of the haters... he's been doing that since, umm 1996 when Doggystyle was no longer his only album. However, the last time Snoop had a true grasp on radio airwaves was when...
we were with our bitches in the living room...getting it on
we, rolled down our streets
we smoked some endo
we sipped some gin and juice
and I forgot
the party didn't stop til 6 in the morning.
so whether you like drop it like it's hot...or you don't... think about what's in those catchy words... it takes a lot of hard thinking to create a song like drop it like it's hot... You need to have a catchy hook, a nice beat, and well... the girls have to love it, they need to dance... and the guys, well, we need to know that well, you have some balls and aren't pulling a JA Rule on us. So this spring break think about all those songs you will hear at the club. Lets take a look at some of those songs.
50 has In Da Club, because, girls love it when we call them shorty and tell them it's their birthdays...oh, and they love getting hugs YIPPEEE... Eminem has the Real Slim Shady... we continue to ask everyone to 'please stand up' .... while last Spring Break, we continued to scream "Yeah" to some usher and lil jon, this year, we will all do one thing...
Drop it like it's Hot
yes, classic, because it will stand the test of time...
whether you like it...or not
-
I agree and its great to see hot97 being forced to play a westcoast track because of the streets demand
-
It's one of the worst songs I've ever heard.
-
I dont listen to the radio so I still enjoy hearing this song. Its actually a really, really DOPE song IMO.
Classic.
-
well i donīt look at it as a dope song and i donīt look at it as a wack song itīs just extremely average.
-
Its good for what it is, but its definitely not a Snoop classic.
-
It's a aiight track, nuthin' special...
-
It's one of the worst songs I've ever heard.
i agree with that
-
I guess it really is a good song, seeing it's success. I already liked it anyway. A Snoop classic? I think you can put it in line with "Nuthin but a G-thang", "Gin and juice" and "Lay low" without the song really falling off, so yeah. It's a unique song, and a good one too.
-
I think its a great pop song but not a classic rap track.
-
lmao ;D ;D 8) 8)
-
Every time I hear it, I'm reminded how low Snoop Dogg is sinking. :-\
He's a shadow of his former self.

umm i don't drive my invisable steering whell because if it was invisable....i wouldn't know where it is anyways
don't show off my rolly because i don't like wearing watches....and even if a song told me to show my rolly i wouldn't do it
i only drink beer and tequila so i'd throw my invisable bottle of chondon at someone
son't smoke weed, i don't try to imitate that gay snoop song
and the only time i do that wack clicking noise is when i mock the song to my racist friend to get on his nerves...
this is one of the worse songs i've ever heard on the radio and 5 years from now you won't ever hear this song again
-
Success = yes
but classic? = no!
A lot of artists have #1 hits..doesn't mean they're classic...you usually forget the song in a couple of years....lets see how long it takes to forget this song
*forgot it already*
-
A classic is something that well re be remembered.
Its to early to be considered a classic and IMO, I do not think it will become a classic.

this song is going to be like the macarena, when it comes on, everyone will know the words. They still don't play g thang anymore, but when they do, everyone knows it
-
this is like any other club hit signel ,like hot in here... considering this song a classic , you must be out of your mind
-
20 years from now, everyone's still gonna be bumping "Gin And Juice" along with other Doggystyle classics, but I can't really see anyone bumping "Drop It Like It's Hot" down the road too much. It's a decent cut, that just happened to be catchy enough to hit top spots on the charts. Success doesn't equal classic, longevity & quality = classic imo.
-
Despite of all you said, I still can't stand the song. I like songs in which the verses performed by the rappers are good. Like, awesome flow or great lyrics for instance. Snoop almost just talks instead of rapping in "Drop it like it's hot". Aint no fun, Gin and juice, Gz and Hustlas .. those are classics. Cannot stop loving them, while non-rap dudes most likely won't like them despite of liking Drop it like it's hot.
SO WE GON' SMOKE AN OUNCE TO THIS
GEEZ UP HOEZ DOWN LIKE YOU MOTHERFUCKERS
BOUNCE TO THIS!!!!!111
^classic. :)
-
I always thought Snoops 'Who am I(Whats my name)' was a bigger hit then 'Gin & Juice'.
-
Sometimes i wonder if yall put up this dumbass statements at the forum just to have something to say.....if drop it like its hot is a classic as then Skee-Los " I wish" must be a classic too!!! ::)
Peace
LazyL
-
It may be catchy, but its the most degrading annoying song I have ever heard.

i wish, is a classic.
-
how can you call something that's only a few months old classic??
-
its ok but nowhere near a classic
-
how can you call something that's only a few months old classic??
yeah, exactaly.
-
to be honest i would rather die by eatin my own testicles than listen to the piece of shit snoop calls his latest album it makes me sad someone so great can be a fuckin neptune whore and turn to them instead of workin wit his pals, together they all make good music
-
it sickens me that people actually would consider this song a classic. its garbage, nothing more. if somehow magically someone could have played this song for me 10 years ago, and said this is the music snoop will make in 10 years, there is no fucking way I would believe it. Snoop went from making the best rap album ever imo, to his latest album, which I couldn't even make it all the way through. Talk about falling off.
-
It's one of the worst songs I've ever heard.
i couldnt have put it better myself
that songs a true failure from an artist some people used to refer to as the "king" of the westcoast
-
Its good for what it is, but its definitely not a Snoop classic.
I agree with this. I hated this song at first, but after I heard it in CDQ and dropped my expectations of it being a "Snoop Dogg" song, its a pretty dope experimental track. I wouldn't call it a classic though, because I've already forgotten about it.
-
wack
-
fuck drop it like its hot and lets get blown and all of snoops shit. you cant be the king of the westcoast and make songs with fucking justin timberlake and nelly, but im hoping he comes to his senses and start making good music.
-

for fucking real snoop when hes in concert will still rap his classics but never any from his paid the cost to be the wanksta and topp dogg except bitch please and if that they do eminems version and that is that he has to sing gin n juicey fruit and g thang this is very true what he need to do is stop smiking fucking shwag and relize that he is starting to fucking suck and get back to his thang
-
To me, it's definitely a great song for what it is, regardless of what some people may think about it. But I don't think Snoop deserves but like 45% of the credit for it, yeah he brought a fire hook, but the beat is what people LOVE about it and that was all Pharell. Yeah, the beat is what makes many songs nowadays, but Snoop's verses were very very average to me on there, unlike many classic songs where the beat was great but the rapper ripped it completely.
-
I still don't get it. Drop what? What is he talking about?
-
It's a aiight track, nuthin' special...
agree with that

i agree with what you said but when Pharell outrhymes you on your own shit you should know that itīs time to retire.

yeah, Snoop's singin on Let's Get Blown!! That's the wackest shit ever!!
-
I like the song, dont know about classic, takes abit more than that to be a classic really.. If the rest of the album wouldnt be as dissapointing as it was I wouldnt doubt callin this a classic or whatever... To newer and younger Snoop-fans, the ones who also bought Nelly together with R&G are probably gonna call this a classic later on. But to me, who lost all faith in the "Snoop standard" for a solo album from the D.o.g, just can't call this a classic even if it really is a great song! Wouldn't allow myself. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, Snoop even fell off the spot he first fell off to by releasing Rhythm & Gangsta.. Its just sad to compare something from like ī92/ī94 to something from ī02/ī03! An artist gotta inovate, no doubt, but the way Snoop evolved, it has gone over the line a long time ago. He's startin to release tracks str8 up whack even nowadays. Just gotten worse n worse.. Im still waiting on the "Reincarnation"-album with a ī05 version of No Bacctraccin, that would be the shiiieeet!
-
lol@those callin this garbage
man i respect honest opinions but this shit is straigh heat..........r-tistic put its best...........the beat and hook make the joint.........but isnt that what alot of great hits are about......lean back was the same........hook and beat.....apart from remy the verses were wack but the joint was fire
y'all some rigid muthafuckaz if you aint feelin this, it'l go down as one of snoops big hits when he retires....it hit number one and he didnt have to creat a joint like "just loose it" to do it either.....the beats sick...every time i hear the beat now i like it more......no classic but its still sick
"snoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooop"
-
its ok but nowhere near a classic
-
The thing is its a hit single so wether you haters like it or not in 20 years time when folk listen t old snoop music then Drop it like its hot will be a major classic cos the generation in 20 years will think that the rap now is great just like what we think of NWA n Public Enemy so like it or not its goin to be a classic. Yeah snoops singin is wack on lets get blown but when he goes into the rap it kicks some ass
-
I really can't stand this song. Mostly because of Pharell rapping...but still.
-
I like how some of you guys can tell the future. Tell me what else will be happening 20 years from now?
-
nah I cant say its classic
-
just cause the shit gained mad commercial success, doesnt mean it aint a snoop classic. You can play this song at any club and people go crazy. It is def. a unique song as well. Even though it aint the old snoop type of shit, i gotta give it up to this song. I wish the old snoop would make a comeback, but i guess we'll have to do with songs like drop it like its hot.
-
well i donīt look at it as a dope song and i donīt look at it as a wack song itīs just extremely average.
never heard of something being "extremely average" lol
love it or hate it, it's a muthafuckin classic. beleeeeve dat! :P
-
i dident buy the album cause of that song and feature of J.Timberlake...

Yup, i can't stand that fuckin song, even tho it is catchy, doesn't make it a good song. some nursy rhyme melodies have better flow than that song.
