Title: Not Designed for scratch play - Oh, fo real??

I just got a Vestax Handytrax (won it in a contest) and in the owner's manual it says "Not designed for scratch play".

Aaight, what would I want it for instead? :D  I mean, can I just give a damn about that and scratch the shit outta my LPs? Will I damage the cool thingy? Will I go to hell for not obeying the manual?
