To me only the em, b real..track was worthy on that album. I aint saying every song was garbage but thier were too many wacked out sounds and noises all bundled in together without no direction.

That old vintage boo yaa gangsta sound was on point from the sampling to the melodys n beats. Im gonna dust off them old tapes and play them today. Its been a while.

Battlecat did the whole album...  That shit was dope.

It didnt go anywhere, cuz its not marketable.  A bunch of samoan bloods, aint gettin play on MTV, doesnt matter if BC produced it, or it was their old funky sound.  Its just not happnin on MTV, or BET.

honestly i didn't feel the production on the album as much as i'd liked.. i'm a big BC fan.

btw.. my favourite Boo Yaa album is "Mafia Lyfestyle" i bump it quite often.. that track with Yuk on gets me rowdy

They fucked up thier last album pretty bad. They had all the right ingredients but made a mess of the final product. Eminem kicked off a good buzz for them, even convincing B-Real to join in and Ganxsta Rid holding his own verse with them. They had a lot of other westcoast players involved but the production was horrible like haga. Thier old albums were pretty funky with them old westcoast gangsta vibes which i still play but they started doing full rock shit even worse then the cypress hills efforts and thier ability to make good hip hop is dust. Ganxsta Ridd solo with some 'decent' young producers would be nice but boo ya tribe as a unit aint bangin no mo.

dude listen again, before talkin shit, battlecat did a very good job there

As much of a big Boo-Yaa Tribe fan that i am, "West Koasta Nostra" was NOT one of my favorite Boo-Yaa Tribe albums.

I liked the beats for "On Me", "N Full Motion", "Legends" and "Carson City".But that was it, I'm just not a big fan of Battlecat, i guess.
Boo-Yaa Tribe needs to take it back to that vintage old school Boo-Yaa sound which is heavily influenced by Rick James (RIP),George
Clinton, and James Brown. They always come correct when they handle most of their production anyways.

As for Ganxsta Ridd doing most of the rapping, well it's always been like that. Each group member plays a part

Ridd- Lead Rapper

Monsta-Bass, Producer

Kobra-Hype Man

Godfather, Sings

Gawtti-Handles the Business, clothing line, vocals

Murder One-Rapper

Boo-Yaa Tribe kinda dropped off the radar for a minute. I'm still waiting on the unreleased album, the rock album and what the hell is up with the documentary? Nima any info?

the best westcoast album of 2003.... i can listen to every track over again...how can u say theres wacked out sounds?

First off, I don't know where you get that "Stuck in 90's Era" from. They always maintained to keep in step with Hip Hop, if not one step forward. Remember this, Nobody actually started incorporating a live band into their show before Boo Yaa did it, nobody came out all braided and tatted up before Boo Yaa did it,or not to mention singing on their songs. They never got the props they deserved because they were Samoans, period.

As for them doing rock, They were originally supposed to be a Heavy Metal band when they first came into the business. They were heavily influenced by rock just as much as the p-funk.These words came from the Godfather himself when i was lucky enough to meet the guys a couple of years ago. They rap, sing, rock, not to mention they used to poplock back in the day and still bang and show their hood colors 100%!

Besides, I don't know any rappers coming out of San Bruno anyways. ;)

Are you serious? That would be something else to hear rappers claiming San Bruno.
Maybe they can rap about Roma's Deli, San Mateo Avenue, and Tanforan mall :-X
Seriously, It's all good wherever you're from but i'm always curious why or how San Bruno got the name
Trenchtown? :-\

Ooooh....let's not get our panties in a bunch here. I was just kidding, my bad if you took it the wrong way.
I don't know any Tongans from San Bruno. I've only heard and seen CasualTz (San Mateo), Ripplen 12 (Union City) perform.
I know who Lil' E is and i think Friscostreetshow in South City sells his cd.

By the way,
I don't consider myself a Boo-Yaa Tribe groupie so check yourself. I support the Usos from Carson and a lot of others such as King Kapisi from New Zealand. You can only listen to 10-12 Boo Yaa Tribe songs before you're tired of all that Gangsta rap.

Boo Yaa Tribe is working on putting out a Rock Rap album. They have a site located at:
http://www.enemiez.com
(It's still under construction)

Also they have a Clothing Line;
http://www.gawtti.com

Their new album should be good. Too me, they've always put out great albums. They
just haven't had the right record label back them up...

Bang On was a weak song to be picked as the first single from "West Koasta Nostra" album. I like Battlecat's work but a whole album of BC beats can be a little bit too much for me. "Mafia Lifestyle" on the other hand, That was a bangin' album with some bangin' beats.

Thanks for the update info on Boo-Yaa Tribe Raw Toons.
I'm not really excited about their new metal project and especially since they got together with another no-name band and called themselves Enemiez?. That kind of weak but i'll still show love fro the Tribe.
