before Kobe and Shaq won any rings...Laker fans held onto the memory of Magic and "Showtime". Now that Shaq is gone...theyll have to hold on to something else from past successful seasons.
-
Simply cause Kobe never asked Buss to fire Phil or to trade Shaq. Kobe was a FA, and was really close to the Clippers, more than what you think. They are all blaming Kobe cause that's the best thing to hide other responsabilities. But in the real world, Lakers *officially* stopped the negotiations with Phil Jackson months before the end of the season, cause Phil asked too much (like 25m $ per 3 years, if i'm correct). Shaq? Same thing. Lakers traded Shaq cause they didnt want to renovate his contract. Shaq asked too much. Lakers werent able to re-sign Kobe, re-sign Shaq and re-sign Phil. It's simple as that. So they didnt re-signed Phil, they traded Shaq and re-signed Kobe. Simple as that. Now that Tomjanovic is out, they can call Phil again. But i've heard Phil will ask like 20-25m $ per year. If that's the case, bye bye Phil. It's all about the benjamins, not about Kobe.
-
All Kobe fans are in denial. Of course its not Kobe's fault that Phil isn't back with the Lakers. Of course its not Kobe's fault that Shaq got traded for a couple of mid-level players and a wash up. Phil isn't going back to the Lakers unless he gets an obscene amount of money. Hell, if you want to complain about it being all about the benjamins, ask yourself if Phil deserves it...last I checked he had 9 rings, that speaks for itself when it comes to his coaching price.
-
It's not that. Shaq deserved it, Kobe deserved it, Phil deserved it. But that's just impossible to do.
Only possible scenario was:
a) re-sign Kobe and re-build the team around him.
b) re-sign Phil & Shaq and trade Kobe.
Buss chosed a. Time will say if he did a mistake or not.
-
Those weren't his only two options. He could've kept all of them. The only reason Shaq got traded and Phil let go was because Kobe didn't like either one of them. He's said that many of times and many other people have said it as well. Buss buckled under the pressure that Kobe put him under. Kobe used the cross town Clippers as bait and Buss bit on it. Now, instead of having a team try for its 4th title in 6 years, you have a team that is currently out of the playoffs.

LMAO, you're one of those dumb people who think it's all Kobe's fault...Kobe also drove Tomjanavich away, right? Fuckin retard...Phil Jackson and Kobe were getting cooler toward the end of last season, according to Tex Winter...Phil Jackson hasn't ruled out the Lakers as a possibility when he's been asked...Jerry Buss, Kobe Bryant, and the whole Laker organization have welcomed a Phil Jackson return with open arms...Why do you think Frank Hamblen (Phil Jackson's former assistant) is re-inforcing the triangle offense method? So that if Phil returns, the players will already be familiar with it...Jeanie Buss is still Phil Jackson's girlfriend and she also has been pushing him to return to LA...Also, now that Shaq is gone, Phil won't have to worry about the 2 feuding if he decides to return...Not only that, but Phil claims the current Laker team is better fit to run the triangle than the 3peat Lakers...Phil Jackson loves the potential in Chris Mihm and Lamar Odom...Coincidence?...I don't think so...When Phil Jackson announces that he will not return to LA next year, that's when the hype will die down...For now, there are too many signs...PeACe

Ah, I see, you are one of those people who thinks Kobe is the saviour and the perfect little choir boy. I hate to tell you this, but everybody that lives somewhere other than LA thinks differently. The triangle offense is being used because it worked before and nothing else has. All of you Kobe-Lovers need to take put your shades on and look away from that blinding glare. Everything said in Laker land has been a lie so far this season. You are the fuckin retard, hopefully you'll see that when you pull your head from Kobe's ass.
-
hisairness you are one of the guys who doesnt understand shit about basketball, but who only hates on the Lakers cause they're struggling now. Too easy! If you really understand something about basketball, you should learn to wait before you judge things. I make you an example. This summer trade between Lakers (receiving Atkins & Mihm) and Boston (receiving Payton). 99% of the board (not me, actually..) thought Celtics won this trade, easly. Watch it now. Lakers DESTROYED the Celtics with this trade, IMO. Getting a good PG in Atkins (7 years younger and having the same stats as GP) and a very good prospect in Mihm. You know what i mean? Learn to wait. Then judge. Odom is a young player who's playing out of position (he loves to play with the ball in his hands, starting every possession), but who can fit extremely well in a triangle, if he learns it. And Butler is another good player with potential. Let's wait 2 seasons. Then we'll see who's better: them 2 or a 35-years-old Shaq retiring! That's what i'm saying!!!!! The fact Lakers aint in a good position doesnt mean they are fucked for years! You are incredibly dumb if you think so. Lakers needs a good coach to coach them for 2-3 years (Phil is the best one, but there are other good coaches around..), a great rebounder, and TIME. T-I-M-E.

No, dick. I do understand basketball. Was it a stupid thing to get rid of Shaq? Yes. Sportswriters, reporters, players, fans, coaches, front office, people who don't play basketball, and most of the world would all agree. Now, the trade with the Celtics, yes, that was a good thing for the Lakers, it has worked out. But getting rid of Shaq, no. That was one of the biggest mistakes, and it will be remembered as one of the biggest mistakes, of all time. Another thing you said was about Lamar Odom, and I quote, "Odom is a young player who's playing out of position (he loves to play with the ball in his hands, starting every possession), but who can fit extremely well in a triangle, if he learns it."
The part you put in about loving the ball in his hands, sorry, but with Kobe on your team, that won't happen, as he as already learned. Chances are, the two year window you propose will shut down when Odom wants out of LA.
Unfortunately, Lakers fans don't want to admit that getting rid of Shaq has hurt their team significantly. Something you don't understand, which shows your ignorance, is that in any sport, the time to win is NOW. Nobody cares about the future except for losing teams.
You talk about Mihm being a good prospect, I'll give you that, but as a backup. He can't hang with the men of the West. Let's play a game...
Chris Mihm vs. Tim Duncan...who wins?
Chris Mihm vs. Kevin Garnett...who wins?
Chris Mihm vs. Amare Stoudamire...who wins?
Chris Mihm vs. Yao Ming...who wins?
Now, let's say that he faces each opponent 10 times. (that's 40 chances, I don't want to get too far ahead of you). Now how many times do you think he is going to outplay those guys? Shaq had a very good chance of outplaying his opposition.
One final thought, before you come back with a "fucking retard" or "you don't know shit" comment, think before you type. It's people like you that make the rest of us look stupid.

Like i said before, you dont understand shit about basketball. Shaq is 33 years old, and he wanted an extention to be the most paid player in the league for other seasons. That means Lakers had to invest half of their salary cap on him, with no chances to sign "the next Shaq". How intelligent is to invest half of your salary cap on a 33 years old guy who's actually making the worse stats of his long career in the easiest conference and division? I'm not saying Shaq aint shit. He's still the best. But he's 33 years old, with optimistically maybe 1-2 other good seasons left in his career. Lakers aquired Odom and Butler for him, and acquired flexibility in their salary cup to sign a great C in 2 years (Yao? Amare?). If they'll do it, then fuck it, this trade will be remembered as an intelligent one. That's why i'm saying it all depends and that it's not time yet for a sentence. It's obvious Lakers arent stronger without Shaq. No teams in the world is stronger without Shaq. I dont need you, sportswriters, reporters, players, fans, coaches, front office, people who don't play basketball, and most of the world to tell me that. It's obvious. What i'm saying is different.
1. He's playing PG lately - 2. That's because Lakers aint playing the triangle they way they should. Phil said he likes Odom, and Winter said he's perfect for the triangle. Sorry if i believe them more than you.
Unfortunately, Lakers fans don't want to admit that getting rid of Shaq has hurt their team significantly. Something you don't understand, which shows your ignorance, is that in any sport, the time to win is NOW. Nobody cares about the future except for losing teams.
Exactly. That's the biggest difference between me and you. You think that Lakers are worse without Shaq (wow! what an intelligent guy you are! Congratulations!! It was too hard to say it, they should give you a degree!), i'm saying that i wanna see how things delevopes in the next 2 years before making a definitive sentence about it. Oh, and you arent obviously a Bulls fan..
You talk about Mihm being a good prospect, I'll give you that, but as a backup. He can't hang with the men of the West. Let's play a game...
Chris Mihm vs. Tim Duncan...who wins?

Obviously as a backup. But man, there's one man who's facing them all, and who's doing it GREAT! His name is Danny Fortson, he plays in Seattle. Did you know that? I mean it's not only about being a legend! It's more about being the right guy in the right system. Fortson is perfect for Seattle. And Seattle is playing great basketball with him. He aint better than Duncan, KG, Soudamire, Ming, etc.. but Seattle won against their teams! You know what i mean? Mihm is perfect for the triangle system. And Bulls won with Longley as a C. Let's wait, let's wait. You never know how things can delevopes. Mihm can be a great C or a failure. Now he's a great prospect. And, like i said, what if in 2 years (now they can) Lakers will sign Yao? Or Amare? Or another great player in the C position? With a 35-years old Shaq signed, it wasnt possible. Now it is. Maybe they'll sign a superstar. Maybe they'll not. We will see. I'm wainting to judge.
One final thought, before you come back with a "fucking retard" or "you don't know shit" comment, think before you type. It's people like you that make the rest of us look stupid.
The rest of you aint stupid. You are.
-

Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan are Power Forwards, you moron...This just shows how stupid you are and how little you know...
The point is, getting rid of Shaq hurt the Lakers, but so would getting rid of Kobe...You need to think about this type of shit, man...Lakers don't even have a steady coach yet and are barely a team together for half a year...Kobe is playing excellent, the players around him just need to learn to adjust and play ball instead of watch Kobe...Kobe passes more than most Shooting Guards in the league, it's just that the players don't know their role with the ball yet...I dunno, I'm high, but you still get sonned muthafucka...PeACe
-
Plus Divac, the best C in the league to play the triangle, pratically never played.
And George, a starter from last year, too.
-
How many times have you seen the Power Forwards in the West guard Shaq and vice versa? It happened every game. Once again, people that don't pay attention. Duncan and Garnett are listed as PF's, but they guard centers and centers guard them.
You speak of the team only being together half a year...the same is true with Phoenix and Miami and look at them. You guys are all the same, you think you know every god damn thing about basketball because you are Lakers fans. Obviously, all you watch is the Lakers and you don't know what is going on in the rest of the league.
-
LMAO...Both Phoenix and Miami are under the same system with mostly the same players centered around the same star...You can't fuckin compare, Lakers are a BRAND new team...Like I said, put Kobe on Cleveland instead of LeBron, and the Cavs would be a top 3 seeded team in the East, no doubt...It's the players around Kobe who need to adjust to the system, Kobe's still doing his job...Shit, the same Lakers led by Tracy McGrady would be in 12th place right now, not in the playoff race...Anyone remember the Orlando Magic last year? Look at the Clippers, they got more young talent than the Lakers and they're in 11th place...That's all I got to say...PeACe
-
you guys went way off topic, but you guys bring up good points both ways....
Phil Jackson Even Wrote In His Book that Kobe Had a personal dislike of him and shaq, and that mitch was willing to do anything to keep kobe, he feared kobe moving to the clippers or any other team, and he wanted to have his franchise revolve around kobe.....
Kobe is the Lakers, He Is the Franchise,...thats the way it is now, there is never going to be anyone that can match kobe's skill or be as good as him, because he wont have that, and Mitch will do anything to keep kobe happy.....
-
you guys went way off topic, but you guys bring up good points both ways....
LOL. I guess I never did answer your question. Phil won't go back because, like you said, he wasn't wanted by Kobe or anybody in the front office. The only way Phil would go back would be if the Lakers got on their knees, begged for him to come back to them, and gave him whatever money he wanted. However, if I were Phil, I would say no because they treated him like a red-headed step child before.
-
Man shut the fuck up, you dont know what Phil is thinking right now.
-
And I'm assuming you do because of the steak dinner you two had together last night...quit making yourself look a dumbass. The whole Will Phil come back or not is all theory. Nobody knows but him, but everybody has their opinion. Get a dictionary and look up the terms theory and speculation. That's what everybody does on every topic.
An example of speculation..."Are you going to reply back and make another stupid comment to further your stupidity" I believe you will.
The man wanted his question answered, so I told him what I thought.
-
Phil won't go back
You aint Phil. I'm not saying shit about him re-joining the Lakers or not. He knows it. Bye.

True all true, all we really have is speculation and assumption, Thats why i wanted to see why laker fans think the way they do.
Man shut the fuck up, you dont know what Phil is thinking right now.
Im Just Pointing out that Phil IS THINKIN THIS BECAUSE HE WROTE IT IN HIS BOOK...Get A Copy Of It And Read it yourself...

So in my eyes, And In My Opinion, Phil Doesnt Look Like He's Comin back....But like you said, only phil knows, but if you wrote about how the star player was chosen over you, do you think he actually has a chance of coming back?

Thank you. By the way, do you have the book? I bought it and thought it was a pretty good read.

Man that book was 1- unnecessary, 2- unprofessional, 3- one side of the story.
What if Phil will come back to L.A.?
1- unnecessary = cause he talked about the previous season as soon as he didnt resign with the Lakers. bad timing.
2- unprofessional = he talked about private conversations and things who has nothing to do with basketball.
3- one side of the story = obviously.
-
phil is high all the time
-
you can say what you want but trade Shaq wa a very bad move. Ok he's getting old but he's still dominant. He'll play at least the Eastern final conf whereas L.A.L won't do the playoffs. I'm still a Laker but when I saw the game againts Phily tuesday I thought it wasn't a Nba team :'(
-
i think phil is gonna go to cleveland now..since paul silas is out
