juventus are a good team, but i wouldn't read too much into them knocking out Madrid as they are quite incredibly shit

Man we arrived 1 time in the UEFA Cup Final, 4 times in the Champions League final, 1 time in the Toyota Cup, 1 time in the Supercup final and 1 time in the Semi-Final of CL in the last 10 years. Nobody has been more constant than us being in the top. It's not that Real is shit, it's more like we are a strong team, we knows how to win. I think we will not have big problems with Liverpool, but we will have some in the semi's against Bayern or Chelsea. We've already defeated Bayern twice, in this CL edition, but you know, the semi's are totally another thing. The return will be in Turin tho', so there's a little advantage for us. But we will see. I hope it will be another Juve-Milan, with us knocking them out with Pavel Nedved scoring from 30mts!

8)

But i'm extremely happy we will face Liverpool. I mean 20 years after Heysel.. shit is still a bloody chapter in our history! 39 juventini deads is something you cant accept. Not even 20 years later. I'm happy cause i run a Juventus Forum (the biggest on the net) and Liverpool fans signed there too, starting an internet friendship.. it's a very good thing, and i'm happy about it. I hope nobody in Turin will try to take a revenge against them. Even tho the temptation is big.

Don't forget Lyon. It's a very solid team. Semi-Finals are Juve-Chelsea and Lyon-Milan AC. Please believe that Chelsea won't win the league.Usually (outside Real) the team who wins is solid, with good defense ( though Chelsea has a good one), English teams aren't (best example is Arsenal). Go Lyon 8)

I hope so. We'll play the return of the semi, if we will make it, in Turin.

I dont see how people dont hate Chelsea, even brits. How can you not hate the concept of simply being rich as fuck and literally buying a team? Horrifying. I hope we rape their asses.

I had Chelsea as my second team when I was younger because of Zola. You say they bought a team, but haven't all clubs bought a team? Arsenal have done exactly the same only over a longer period of time. Chelsea will win the title, and it will be well deserved.

the best part of everyone hating what has happened to chelsea is that man utd get completely ignored around this topic

van nistelrooy - 18mil
veron - 28mil
rooney-28mil
ferdinand-30mil (roughly)

thats more than 100 million for 4 players all bought in the space of the last 4/5 years

now dont get it twisted im not arguing this is as bad as chelsea but where do u draw the line??

its ok to spend 100 million over 4/5 seasons but not over 1 or 2?  what kind of rule is that?

When Bayern Munich buys a player it's from hard earned money from what the team earned due to sponsorship, tv stuff, merchandise, tickets, championships, bla. Completely different to Abrahimovic, who took it to another level. He can just pay random amounts. Players are like furniture. What's next, Bill Gates becoming a Everton Fan, buying them and spending the 1000 mio. dollas he carries in his purse on random stars?

I'm with you on this 7even. Juve is like Bayern. Agnelli family (FIAT owners) dont spend 1 single € for Juventus from 10 years. We just sell players and buy from that money. Or from TV stuff, sponsors, merchandise, etc.. Still we've reached 4 CL finals, 1 semi, 1 Toyota Cup, 1 UEFA Cup final..

LMFAO

so basically, juve COULD win the CL every year but that would be too easy so they dont spend everything to give everyone else a chance?
Title: Re: Champions League quarter-finals draw
Post by: acbaylove on March 21, 2005, 03:50:43 PM
^ No. Simply Juve owners refused to invest millions to buy new players because they have huge problems dealing with the crisis of FIAT, with thousands of italians fired from their factories, etc.. It wasnt ethically correct to invest money on football when they were firing workers because of the crisis. So Juve had to deal with that situation, and all the players we've bought in the last 10 years, we've bought them not because our president invested money from his billfold (like Berlusconi, Abramovic, etc..), but because of tv stuff, merchandise, tickets, and expecially players traded to other teams (we've sold players like Baggio, Zidane, Vieri, Henry, Paulo Sousa, Boksic, Inzaghi, etc.. just to name a few). Not even a single € was spent from Juve owners to buy players. That's what i'm saying. Abramovic is the opposite. He's spending millions and millions from his own billfold! And it's not the same. And for sure it doesnt give you the same satisfaction when/if you win something.
