Toni Morrison called him that.  It's really an incredible story... incredibly racist against her own people.

Shortly after the scandals began with Clinton and Monica, she said in an op-ed piece she wrote in the New Yorker (1998)...

"white skin notwithstanding, this is our first black President. Blacker than any actual black person who could ever be elected in our children's lifetime. After all, Clinton displays almost every trope of blackness: single-parent household, born poor, working-class, saxophone-playing, McDonald's-and-junk-food-loving boy from Arkansas"

So, there's Toni Morrison's definition of Black.  To be REALLY, REALLY black, you have to display 'every trope of blackness", which includes being 'born poor', playing the saxophone, being a "McDonalds and Junk food loving" person, and of course, being from a 'single-parent household'.

Is that what blackness is? Is that how 'black' is defined?  If it is, then yeah, I guess she was right, he's the first black president.

Disgusting to see people denegrate THEMSELVES this way.

What about the fact he had to earn his way thru life unlike your buddy in office.

And became President  :)

I agree with Trauma, it did nothing for black people as a whole.  I am ashamed that such comments were made however funny they were meant to be but Other reasons were;

He Smoked Weed at work and cheated on his wife with a white woman and denied it as long as he could :o

I guess my comments fell on deaf ears.  It's a shame that Dr. King's message has been so perverted over the years, he had it right all along, but nobody really pays attention to what he said.  He said we were EQUAL, and that eventually, we'd stop talking about colors.  Unfortunately black america (as well as white america... but that would be expected) holds ITSELF down, by continuously reminding us of just how different we all are.  For Toni Morrison to say that Clinton is Black, because he's poor, ought to be fucking OUTRAGEOUS to any self-loving black person.  As long as people are still saying shit like that, black people will continue to be made to feel inferior.

Read Dr. King, he didn't say "Lets get the white man to stop opressing us"... he didn't say "nobody understands us"... he didn't talk about the "black condition"... he said to drop the colors and let our children play together.  It's really that fucking simple, somebody ought to smack Toni Morrison for saying that shit.

*smacks head*

he was put in the Black Hall of Fame because of how his helped Blacks in the United States. He was the first president to allow so many Blacks in the cabinet and even though George Bush is seen as Latino friendly, Clinton had double the Latinos by his side. Clinton just didn't talk about equality, his proved it. It's a shame that his legacy will be a blow job, because honestly he help so much with the advancement of minorities in leadership positions it's unreal. The Black President thing is somewhat true, it basically explains how Bill Clinton can relate to Black people, and he now has an office in Harlem. I mean Bill Clinton seems to be at home with Black people, so why the fuck not make him an honorary member. If his there to help Black people achieve equality, and appoint Blacks to leadership positions that in other presidents would over look, then I think he deserves something.
