DETOXING RUMORS
Rumors confirming the existence of a Dr. Dre Detox album are floating around inconspicuously lately, mainly because none of the information coming out relates directly to Dre. Rather, Jonathan "J.R." Rotem, who recently did work on 50 Cent's The Massacre and has also contributed to tracks from Snoop, Young Buck, Talib Kweli, and Lil' Flip, will reportedly contribute one track to Dre's upcoming Detox project, rumored to be the last from the West Coast's finest. Not to be outdone, fellow rising producer Nottz (as seen on last week's HipHopSite Interview) also confirmed that he will be contributing a production effort to Detox, reportedly the intro. track. Small steps towards anything solid for Detox but steps nonetheless. Stay tuned for more Detox information. -- Christopher "Scav" Yuscavage

J.R. is dope, but shit, i dont want nobody besides D.R.E. producing on detox
-
Nottz is a shitty producer his bullshit beats dont deserve to be on Detox
-

yeah wtf....I want dre to produce everything not EM or anybody else, this is what pisses me off about Dre. Its his album and knowone cares for his lyrics. I buy a dre album for the beats and guest apperences. This shows how much dre is as an artist if this is true.
-
I hope Dre does at least MOST of the production...like if Detox has 16 songs, Dre should produce 10-12...fuck, I hate the idea of other producers contributing tracks.
-
Nottz is a shitty producer
LOL, how's that?
-
The fuck? I hope he produces damn near everything... all of these Detox rumors are pretty unsettling. Unless Dre's concentrating on his own lyrics or something... ::)
-
LoL, I don't think people realize how tough the quality control is to get a beat on a Dre-album..
It's like a new rookie actor fighting DeNiro and Pacino for the main role.. :D
And rest assured that Dre will tweak the beats into perfection before it even has a chance to be on the album..
-
well aslong as we get a detox
-
it's going to be hot no doubt
-
And rest assured that Dre will tweak the beats into perfection before it even has a chance to be on the album..
I agree. Dre did this with Jelly Roll's "On the Boulevard."
-
:Pthe whole aftermath iz fuked up now if ya ask me.

jelly roll and dre have collaborated?? Where???

Damn! hearing all these rumors are making me think about Detox which I do not want to do until it drops otherwise I will go crazy.

nah for real dont care who produces, as long as its not "original" beats or beats that sucks, if that sounds like dre usual stuff its all good
-
maybe now yall will realize that Dre BEEN using other folks prodution for years, but he just now starting to give them credit..Why you think his sound always changes on diffrent albums, cause he using diffrent producers..He been jackin tracks for YEARS..Ask Daz, Warren G, Cold 187um, Colin Wolfe, Mel Man, Soopyfly and so on and so on...

According to Warren, they all pitched in but Dre was the main creative brain behind the Chronic.

But what about Doggy Style..
According to Warren, he produced, AINT NO FUN..

I agree with you on there, but Dre got a lot of help from Mel Man too on 2001.
But I'd rather see J.R. helps him than that Eminem does that >:(

yup J.R. laid down 1 beat for Detox
-
just wait and see. Detox is one of the most anticipated album since a while so it's obvious there are and there will be RUMORS til the album comes out. Trust in Dre, this album will be dope and if the good Doctor failed making it, this album won't come out

No Daz produced Aint No Fun Kurupt says that and I have audio where he says that in an interview.

Now that I think about it, its not that really surprising that Dre is using other producers. Hes been doing it all of his career espically the last 6 years. Theirs always a co producer with dre(Mel-Man,Scott Storch, Milke Elizondo,ect...)
So im just waiting for the album cuz i know it will be dope who ever produces it.
-
man, loads of producers been talkin about submitting beats to dre for detox
but evantually none of em will be on it
we give dre props on his solo albums cause he dont write but he produces the whole thing
i dont see wats the point of havin ppl writing and producing for him
juss put britney spears on teh cover maybe it'll sell more

True, but still...knowing that Dre laid hands on EVERY beat on the album (produced them) gives it a special touch.
-
i can't imagine anyone else but Dre is producing for Detox...
-
i tell you who i'd want to see help produce stuff on detox over any of dres co-producers and a dude who would no doubt be able to get back to a true westcoast sound on the cd (i really hope the detox has some westcoast funk left on it).
it's dj quik

I remember warren talking about how they all pitched in on the chronic, but dre was the main brain. Since when though did warren or daz produce ain't no fun because I just don't believe anything daz says now these days. That goes for when he is talking trash and when he is talking about his ghost production work, but on the other hand I generally tend to trust what kurupt says. I don't know why, but he just comes off as a guy who feels there is really no reason to lie. I like to read that interview or at least hear the audio for myself to see if it is true. If you could post up a link to the audio or interview that would be greatly appreciated and tight.
-
That'd be some shit if Em doez this album dirty like he did pac'z,cuz he run round lookin like he be takin over shit @ aftermath when he feel like it.
-
nottz is a dope producer, the fuck you talkin about. but i do think that it should be all dre production which i'm sure it will, let the rumors be what they are Rumors, peace.
-
nottz is cool....kinda hit or miss for me......J.R.'s better tho....cant wait to hear what him and dre come up wit
-
U know what...I hope tha album drop atleast be4 tha end of tha summer,or this year, cuzz I hate hearin' bout shit that dont actuall go down until like 4Ever!!
-
it aint happening man, it will drop in 06 most likely summer, dont wait for it to be released in 05, cuz that aint happening
-
Lord Finesse produced a track on Chronic 2001.
Dre & Mel-Man produced the rest of the album together.
Mike Elizondo said that Dre used to tell him how he wanted things to be, but now lets him compose some of his own things on Dre's breaks. That's why he's now the co-producer.
I trust the doctor when it comes to his own album. He won't drop it unless its a masterpiece.
-
i dont know why y'all frontin about dre havin co producers, he still makes shit himself, he did 4 himself on eminems album, they were decent beats, its just eminem fucked them up.....as long as dre is involved while the beat is gettin made, it'l be sick. these niggas who be co producers on his shit never hardly make a beat themselves, so why front on dre......dre givin this cats a chance, teachin them.
and u know.....its better to have 2 eyes than one if u get what im sayin.....in this case ears......dre is the main cat behind these beats, that why he still here making hits....its just better to have a second opinion....or work with another cat instead of always by yourself...it makes me laugh when i see threads like dre vs storch..........storch makes a couple of heaters, now he better than dre??lol
personally id love to see a dre and co produced by mel man album, but that wont happen.....dre n some new cats he been workin with this time around......but i aint trippin as long as dre producin it too...
but i hope jr aint producin shit on his album, maybe he contributed, but dre will just pass it on for eve to spit on or some shit
oh and even the intro gotta be done by dre!!! this gotta be no generic shit niggaz releasin these days......its gotta be a follow up to chronic and 2001.....its gotta be off the muthafuckin chain to sit on the same table as these
peace
peace

I think Detox will be produced by Dr.Dre & Mike Elizondo. Like Dre & Mel-Man did 2001. It's just a guess, but they work closely these days.
-
Lyrical G just dropped some real shit. Rillydoe, I think that Detox will have about a handful of beats by other producers with Dre doing his additional production & mixing. I'm guessing that Dre will produce a few cuts solo, do some with Scott Storch, a bunch with Mike Elizondo, then the Hi-Tek\Focus\J.R.\whoever else beats...I swear man, when that Detox album drops...it's a wrap, 7 years in the making...
-
I think we can expect Dre to colllaborate with producer/players to make some dope music and it is only right since he is goin out with this one y not bring in everyone. Dre has always been known to surround himself with people. I bet Focus, Scott Storch, Mike Elizondo will primarily collab with Dre. Then we will see Timbo, Nottz, Jr, Eminem maybe co-produce with him maybe? I really hope Mel-Man gets in on the project.
Dre is ar a stage in his career where he wants to bring others in and show em how it is done HIS WAY. So they can learn and be maybe dope as him ex. Mel, Storch, Elizondo, Em, focus.
Dre will hopefully bring ti to the next level and use more live instrumentation. That would be dope. Get live drums, maybe some more percusiion like his old says.
-
And rest assured that Dre will tweak the beats into perfection before it even has a chance to be on the album..
yup
produced by: Dr. Dre & Nottz
produced by: Dr. Dre & J.R.
-
Beats have to be handle by Dre, Elizondo, Storch, Mel-Man, Focus and Hi-Tek. Don't need others producers
-
One thing I've learned while in the army - there's a whole lot of talk and bullshit floating around about what's going to happen. That's all it mostly ends up as - talk and bullshit. You gotta wait and see what's actually gonna happen. And you really can't tell what it's gonna be until it actually happens.
-
cool info

agree.

"I want dre to produce everything not EM"
HELL YA! I am with u all the way. BTW EM sux as a producer. He's living on the great white hype BS or something in rural trailor America. He's pride and he's spent right now. Time to take a break or get out.
Dre is one of my idols and has been for some time, but it seems like he has been having trouble finding the energy to get this album done. He had to scrap it the first time he took a shot at it. I respect him for being smart enough to take a step back and embrace new life in hip hop. The man is a marketing genius AND the greatest producer of all time. Put your other sht down DRE and focus on Detox!!!
