Is it just me or is the sound quality on this album just not up to par. It's like all the songs are muffed a little bit. When I bump the shit in the ride it's more noticeable. Put it on me just sounds like it should sound better when played at high volumes. Does anyone hear what I do, or is it just me?

It sounds great to me. The cleanest Quik album.
-
maybe you downloaded it from the internet, buy the real and it should sound good if it doesnt, go see a doctor, lol

yup... my thoughts... the bass is 2 heavy at high volume...
put it on me sounds good

It probably depends on your system. Quik's a master engineer, so I doubt anything is wrong in that sense - but if your speakers/system isn't top notch, then anything will sound distorted when you play it loud...
... It's like Jay-Z says at the start of 'Parking Lot Pimping': "If you have the wrong speakers in your shit, this is just sounding like - whoom, whoom!"
-
^^ come over to my house... I doubt it depends on my system ;)
I didn't know Quik was mastering his own records... David Grundman ;D
anyway... UTI is shitty mastered... that's what I'm saying...
Rhythm al ism was clear like a muthafucka...

LMAO, far from it man... Quiks worst album, the songs dont fit together, there isnt a whole feel to the album, sounded like he just threw it together.
-
of course i bought the album. but to me it just doesnt sound like it was mastered properly. I'm telling you. its not as clear as most of quiks other shit. maybe i got a special wack edition.
-
I never even pay attention to this kind of stuff.
-
This is Quiks cleanest album. Sounds fine on my speakers. But I'm a baller with 2 12" Studio monitors with horns.
-
wasn't a big fan of this album, peace.
-
Thats what makes this album so bad. It was masterted poorly...
Listen to Rythm-al-ism and tell me its not the cleanest and crispest album of all time.

same goes for balance & options... crisp albums...

I was just bumpin my OG copy of this a couple of days ago and noticed the same shit. Especially on "Get Loaded" it just sounds like shit. Funny thing is, my friend burned me a copy of the CD that he downloaded a long time ago, and I ripped those tracks to my computer. "Get Loaded" from that sounded real nice. Unfortunately I assumed the real CD sounded the same, and I deleted those files. So maybe there's a shitty version being sold and a good one.
-
glad im not the only one who notices the sound sounds weak

sounds great to me

And what's that gotta do with sounding clean or not????
-
come on PLEASE!!!! don't talk about poor sound quality, cuz Quik ain't about that, i met him and we smoked weed all night, my lungs were charred
-
I found that I gotta turn some tracks up a notch coz the volume isn't the same. Especially on 'Evryday'.

its like the EQ is fucked.... find myself adjusting with songs like "put it on me" "trouble" and "evryday"

well i 'm glad i'm not the only one who thought this. I was starting to think i was hearing shit or my ears were going bad.

You're not the only one. I noticed the same thing when I bought the album, especially when compared to Rhthmalism and Balance and Options. Both of those albums sound clean as hell but Under the Influence sounds muffled, at least some of the songs anyway. I thought it was done intentionally to give the album a more old school grimy feel but it did strike me as weird and I didn't enjoy the album as much as Quik's other releases for that reason.

Thats the truth. Still a great album though.

Thats awesome, but what the fuck does that have to do with the sound quality of Under The Influence?
