FTPD by Dj Quik is hot too, but doesnt compare to N.W.A
-
peeps need to learn that they shouldnīt remake classic songs.

what about cats that sample, if remaking a classic isnt what theyre doing than what exactly besides stealing are they?

^^ in hiphop covering is pretty difficult to do well, yeah. 1:1 exact copies of songs are boring in all genres, but you can re-make a song quite nicely. To come up with this favorite of mine once again, what Sublime made out of "Smoke Two Joints" and "Hope" eg was just much better (for my taste) than the OG versions. And as for the music itself, hiphop is a lot of "biting" anyways, which leads us back to the old Jenny From The Block discussion: J-Lo bit a beat, but Juju gets the credit as if it were his own composition when he sampled one flute melody of a pretty elaborate jazz song...what iīm tryina say is, so much of hiphop is stolen, that, long as you donīt make exact copies i donīt think itīs illegitamate to do a remake of a song, if you add your own flavor to it...i mean, half of The Chronic is stolen, nobodyīs complaining...i donīt think the difference between hiphop stealing from hiphop and hiphop stealing from non-hiphop is SUCH a huge one.......
still of course the answerīs NWA for me

Roberta Flack - Killing me softly
Fugees - Killing me softly
How damn identical are them two songs? And can you say Lauryn Hill did a bad or boring job with that cover? Nah. You're right on most occasions, but there certainly are exceptions.
I think the outcome of this poll speaks for itself... 100% votes went to N.W.A ;D

...my favorite paradox is that all generalizations are wrong ;)

warren G sampled alot, so did Dj Quik and Dre, thats sort of a part of hip hop, you hear a dope beat in a different genre and think it'd be better in hip hop, ofcourse for hip hop fans thats the case...

for hiphop-only fans, yeah

It gotta be N.W.A. ! although i did like the way Krayzie Bone and Layzie Bone did the remake, i say remake but it was a dedication track for the 10th aniversery of NWA!

There can never be a better one than the first one. Except maybe the remix on 100 miles and running.
-
LMAO
-
Didnt daz do a version to this too
-
It surprises me there's no one trying to be special, or even different.
-
NWA easily.
