what do you guys think of jelly roll?
-
decent. nuthin special, nothin wack. made some tight tracks, also made some not so tight tracks.
-
Sounds like alot of dirty south drum kits put in west coast patterns, nothin special, just reworking other top 40 sounds, does a good job though.
-
HE HAS SOME GOOD SHIT I LIKE THAT SONG SATURDAY NITE LIVE WITH XZIBIT.
-
He has some tight beats, but his new beats been wack, like "Saturday Night Live", i didn't like the beat at all...
-
jelly roll is one of the tightest new producers from the west
jelly roll > j.wells
-
The producer who got a style... When i listen to a jelly roll song, i guess that jelly roll produced it. This shows us he is good producer!
-
yea, not bad at all
Shine from Jada's last LP is his best work 8)
-
With JellyRoll it's either "hit or miss".
I like his sound though (his beat on the Bad Azz album are pretty good...so is the cut on Baby S' album).
-
he a hit or miss producer

-

-
I love his shit. He's great at producing plus he makes great hooks.
-
'Wrong Idea' was tight, but apart from that I haven't heard one beat from him I felt. His vocals are shite.
-
he drops it pretty hard n funky... comin up for sure
-
he's a talented dude. whether droppin a beat or a hook. I really felt the shit he did for WOMD.

when i listen to an eminem song, i guess that eminem produced it. does that show us he is a good producer?
-
Stoplight!!!
-
When he's good, he's good. When he's bad, it's the worst shhit I've ever heard. Sorta like Eminem.
-

-
i think the only reason he has a job is coz he knew battlecat
peace
-
He's very hit or miss, mostly miss. He's made some of the worst beats I've ever heard.
-
Jelly Roll is usually instantly recognisable and I ot to give him props for being creative and original, a rare thing in hiphop. Also, his beats are allways somewhat weird which sets him apart. I haven't heard any beats by him I felt were really bad, but some have been rather average. Some of my favorites are:
'On the Boulevard' (Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg & Jelly Roll)
'Back Up Off Me' (Golden State Project)
'Westcoast Plantation' (Bad Azz f/ Xzibit)
'Bring It On' ( Snoop Dogg f Suga Free & Kokane)
'When you see me' ( Bad Azz f Kokane,Snoopy Collins & RBX)
etc.
As for the 'he owes everything to Battlecat'-thing, I thought he hooked up with Snoop (and then others) because he's Charlie Wilson's nephew?
-
im startin to like his stuff alot mo, before he was jus either a nice beat or a wack beat, but he def got some sick talent
-
the best of his production is "Party With a D.P.G." on No Limit Top Dogg, one of my favorite songs
