Title: Is this the Original "Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe"?

The titles are similar....does anyone know if "Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe" is based on this movie?

it might be the tv show not the movie?

i saw it years ago..


the american movie version of the book 'added' stuff thats not even in the book itself.. like the kidnapping sub-plot and the dolphins stuff from the 4th book.. the BBC shows (radio and tv) are a pure rendition of the book

oh, I had no idea it was a tv show.....I just saw this on amazon.....I guess its new on dvd or something, was it like a series that was broken down into a few shows?

yeah it came out in 1981.. its been out on dvd for ages.. they've just rerelased it to coincide with the movie...

oh, my bad....for some reason I kept thinking the remake was "universe"....Thanks for the clarification
