well with our anti-monopoly laws that'll be difficult..

for example..

Tesco has already reached the maximum number of stores it is allowed.

So cleverly what they've done is buy into other markets like the local convenience store field..
so now we have "tesco metro" stores which are basically local versions of the big stores

the days of independent local traders is gone since these chains can afford to buy shit in cheaper.

we have anti-monopoly laws here too. As long as K-Mart is barely in business and Target is going strong, Wal-Mart is not a monopoly.

Wal-Mart rocks.  It's great for America.  Viva la Wal Mart!

I think you enjoy being an idiot.  Do you also enjoy your walmart-like income?

$17,000 - Avg. Salary of a Full-Time Walmart Employee

50% - Percentage of Wal-Mart Employees that receive health benefits. (Walmart likes to 'outsource' healthcare to the federal and state govts.)

40% - Annual turnover at Walmart

$1 Billion - Subsidy money Walmart has recieved from federal, state and local govts.

1 Million - number of Walmart employees  at or below the poverty level.

$17.5 Million - 2004 income for Walmart President Scott Lee Jr.

2 weeks - The amount of time it takes Scott Lee Jr. to earn the lifetime income of the avg. Walmart employee

85% - Percentage of goods Walmart purchases from China

8th - Walmart ranks as China's 8th largest trading partner if it were a country

1 - Number of political commercials sponsored by Walmart that compare those who oppose Walmart to Nazi's

**Most numbers are approximations**

Wall-Mart is the result of what capatalism has produced in this country.  If you don't like Wall-Mart you should blame capatalism.

It's a case of what Rass Kass was talking about on Soul On Ice---

"Big Bank take little bank/
Anything Goes/
Legal or Illegal/
However you make your cash flow".

don't under estimate tesco, 1 pound in every 8 pounds spent in britains shops goes to tesco and they have had some considerable overseas expansion which is all good because i'm a share holder and the price keeps going up

Wal-Mart didn't hire illegals.  They hired a cleaning company to clean up at night, and the cleaning company hired illegals.  Wal Mart can't be responsible for everyone working for every company they do business with, that's rediculous.

Walmart is also dangerous for our environment and living conditions for the neighborhood it is placed in. Sometimes they dont bulldoze the stores and leave the shells of them there as abandoned buildings, while at the same time they are stting up another one in another part of town.

Walmart is great for the consumer when they are going to purchase things, but...

in the long run, and as can be seen right now, corporations like walmart are going to ruin america.  no way can sole proprietorship's compete with walmart, so they will eventually (if not already) go out of business.  walmart has drastic effects on the economy, and eventually I think it will be for the worse.  and for everyone who thinks walmart is great, just imagine if they came into your city, made all the mom and pop shops of the same type of business go out of business, and then drastically raised their prices.  and that is eventually what will happen, because these corporate people are so greedy.  I ain't totally against walmart, I shop there, but it is fuckin shit up.  and what the fuck is the deal with them having 400 checkout stands, but only keeping 3 open?  thats sum fuckin bullshit.
