Snoop Says He Wants To Lend Suge Knight A Helping Hand

Just like the title of his latest single, "Ups & Downs," so goes the saga of Snoop Dogg and Suge Knight.
As Tha Row's number one artist in the early and mid-'90s, Snoop anchored Suge's empire. Since the Dogg parted ways with Suge, though,
"I feel like I can help him like he helped me. It's just a matter of us trying to come together and me looking at the situation." — Snoop Dogg
the relationship between the two has been nasty (see "Snoop Calls Suge Knight A Bitch On Upcoming Album"). They've dissed each other countless times in public, and they even almost locked horns at the BET Awards once during an untelevised standoff between their crews.
The Dogg, however, says he's older and wiser and that he's done beefing with the man he once threatened to slap with his pimp hand. Last month Snoop organized a summit for West Coast artists called the Protect the West Conference, and the agenda for attendees such as the Game, Mack 10, Daz and Kurupt was squashing beef (see "Snoop Dogg Holds Summit To Squash Beefs, Unify West Coast"). Snoop decided it was the best place to set aside his differences with his former boss.
"Suge didn't show up," he said, "but you know, as far as we're both concerned, we don't have no problems with each other no more. We're just trying to move forward because he's trying to do business. They're trying to take him out the game, and I don't want to see him go out of the game like that because I've got love for him. He gave me opportunity when nobody else would. I'm a grown man now, so I've learned to forgive people for what they've done, for what they know not."
Snoop speaks so highly of Suge, some sort of collaboration between the two doesn't seem like as much of a pipe dream as it did even three months ago.
"I feel like I can help him like he helped me," Snoop continued. "It's just a matter of us trying to come together and me looking at the situation. You know, when you see a brother down, do you kick him or do you give him a hand? I was taught to give him a hand. So I'm just trying to help. I don't have any problem with Suge Knight, Death Row Records, more power to them. I wish them success and luck."
A spokesperson for Suge Knight could not be reached for comment.
Another huge reconciliation to come out of the summit was Kurupt rejoining the Dogg Pound Gangsta Clique. Kurupt has been on the How the West Was One Tour with his homies Snoop, Daz and Soopafly (see "Snoop And Game Beef Up Their How The West Was One Tour"), and the entire collective has been recording a full DPGC album.
"It was crazy the first couple of nights," Snoop said, "but the first song that we actually laid down, Kurupt was so hard on the song, man, he was so vicious with the verse, I didn't even want to rap on it. I was like, 'I can't match him.' He came back, his blade was so sharp. It touched me in the heart to hear him like that because I could just tell he was holding back, like, 'I gotta say this but I don't have the right scenario.' It was just a great uplifting for us to put him back into the building with us. And it helped us. Now we're on the road, we're traveling, we're doing some of that classic DPG music onstage. Just to see us all up there smiling, having a good time, interacting is beautiful."
The DPGC are about seven songs into the album, and Snoop said to also look for Nate Dogg and Warren G on the album. Snoop wants to put his latest group project out later this year but has not settled on a label yet.

thats great news right there about the dpgc album. and i never thought i'd see the day that snoop is trying to help out suge
-
I have to give props to Suge once again for helping organize the West Coast Conference, but I seriously hope there are more to come. It was a step in the right direction, but there's still matters that need to be addressed. I have respect for what Suge did as far as being a successful black entrepreneur, and the early days of Death Row. imo West Coast Hip Hop is better without him...
-
Interesting. Snoop's stock went up in my eyes.
-
good to see
-
the relationship between the two has been nasty (see "Snoop Calls Suge Knight A Bitch On Upcoming Album").
^ That, is some funny shit. That's like something they'd do as a skit on Mad TV or something. Hilariously, though, it's true.

Awesome news
-
I've been saying this was gonna happen during the whole Vibe Awards thing when Dre went on stage and gave props to Kurupt and Suge was praising Dre. Everyone is getting older and getting away from this little kiddy shit, and everyone who was once signed to Suge is finally realizing how big of a role Suge playing to put them on and to keep them out of jail.
I'm not an advocate of Suge behavior, but if he got back in to the game strictly with business in mind, he could do a lot of damage again.
-
That would be something if Snoop actually worked with Suge again. Maybe appeared on ATG and helped get it distributed??? Ok, maybe not. Just wishful thinkin...
-
suge will never come bacc. he's finished. snoop tryin to help him haha. snoop ought to be slapped for helpin out dat fat bitch.

what's wrong with trying to reunite the west??? All the bullshit has to come to an end sometime might as well do it right now.

Good News
-
Nowadays Suge cant do fuck all for the west he couldnt even release an album from a dope artist like Crooked. Hes one horrible fat fool who should never be forgiven. Anyway the authorites are on his case hard and all the dumb shit hes done in the past is catching up with him. If he really did pay or send that fool who got stabbed n looking at jail time for his lame attack against Dre hes in more shit.
Snoop working with Kurupt n daz for a new DPG lp is cool and clearing up his beef and moving on is fine for him but if hes learned anything he should never work with or trust that fat clown.
-
wow, I've gained a lot more respect back for snoop in the past couple of months. its bout time a westcoast rapper stopped acting like a soap opera queen and did the right thing for the music. good for snoop. hell I never thought this would be possible, maybe that means that it will be possible for the dpgc album to come out pretty good.
-
I guess it's good that he's mending problems, but maybe with Suge Knight it isn't necessary
either way, props to Snoop for bein the bigger man
-
so is this a dpgc album (snoop/nate/daz/kurupt/warren/soopafly/bad azz) or daz kurupt with dpg member features?
-
For it to really be a total success they definitely need to reach out to the bay.
-
I give Snoop props for at least trying to be the bigger man, but he must have forgot about the death threats he used to get and also Suge boys having him jumped back in 98. Not to mention the Death Row entourage whooping on Bad Azz in Vegas a couple years back. I'm not saying Snoop should keep beefing with him, but he's doing an awful lot to get back into the good graces of Suge. I don't get it
-

i guess it will be more like this : Snoop,Daz,Kurupt,Soopafly,Nate Dogg, Warren G, Lady of Rage , Bad Azz , RBX
-
lol snoop has yall wrapped around his finger. ima keep the rest of my opinions towards this to myself so no one gets their feelings hurt
-
I think it takes a big man to forgive but as far as doing buisness with suge again....Id be very cautious. I just re read have gun will travel and suge is/was a cold motherfucker.

we will see ;)

yeah but didnt dre snub daz?
-
great news... ;D

thats what i'm thinkin..
its almost like he shaming the row away from their previous tactics..
coz if they keep dissing.. now they gonna look even worse!
-
Ive been a fan of Suges since day one, yeah the guy has done some stupid stuff, Tha Row has been a laughing stock since Daz left, I dont think they have released a new artists album since his,
Eastwood, Danny Boy, Crooked I, Tha Realest, Top Dogg, Gail Gotti, Kurupt
They all talented (ok maybe not Top Dogg or Tha Realest), and I for one would love to see an album from any of these artists instead of another Greatest Hits or Pac release,
Suge dropped the ball with Crook big time and he acting like a bitch takin him to court
But Suge without a doubt back in the 90's helped westcoast rap and you cant deny it, yeah the guy done some stupid things but we all human, and Snoop is a bigger man in my eyes for releasing that Suge helped the kid out back in the day, and forgetting about all the negative bullshit,
But I hope Suge can to so Death Row can become the force it once was.

:o

This is fucking great news and big props to Snoop for being a bigger man about this
-
i think this is prolly just a case of snoop being really high
sure u can forgive and forget but i think going and giving suge a helping hand n all is just a lil too far fetched, beside suge seems too proud to let snoop help him out....its just not believable
peace
-
i think this is prolly just a case of snoop being really high
Haha - That's hilarious, and probably true.
-
welp if snoop helps out suge u think the dgp album will be relseaded threw death row as snoop says he has no label for it yet

That's what I'm saying. Suge is the sole reason why Snoop rolls 30 deep wherever he goes
-
^^^Well at Powerhouse Grape St. was in full effect in the front row, and Snoop was right in front of them C-Walking, bangin 2-0, and all that shyt and no one did anything there wasnt too much security up there with him he was doin it! On an important matter Snoop mentioned Death Row a bit that night aswell and said he was gonna let the past be that past and pay tribute and went directly into "Stranded On Death Row", with everyone coming out for there verses, he seems to be on some real west coast reunion shyt i mean actions speak louder than words to me...
-
suge is not the only reason snoop roles 30 deep, the still claims and c walks and all that on videos and shit....there alot of muthafuckas that don't like that shit
-
lol, i think snoop is actually dissin suge in this statement
he makin suge look real small in the rap game (remember how big suge was back in 1993-1996)
i see a diss in this statement
i really cant see this bef squashed, i'd be happy if it happend
its put alotta ppl in awkward position with dre
remember dre is a BIG dog on the west too

I shouldn't have said "SOLE", but he is a major part of it. In 97 when he was trying to get off Tha Row, Suge had him shook. On Fox 11 News out here in LA, they played a clip where Snoop said he wanted to leave Death Row cuz he was scared for his lfe. Snoop freaked out and hired cops and other security personnel cuz of Death Row and nobody else. Snoop was attacked on one occassion and had a couple of close calls bac in 97-98 with niggaz associated with Death Row. Its a known fact out here in LB. I'm not saying he's a punk, cuz he was protecting himself and his family. I woulda did the same exact thing. My whole point is, thats where Snoop rollin deep as fuck stemmed from. True there are other cats not associated with Suge that don't like Snoop, but again he didn't step up his security game until he had conflict with Suge.

Yup, but Daz is no Suge. Daz used to smoke crack. Plus, it seems Daz wants to pursue his own shit rather than get big just cause he's Snoop's cousin. He has some business savy cause otherwise JD wouldn't fuck with him, but in 4 years, Suge took Death Row to 80 million records sold. That's not savy, that's genius. I think everyone is sick and tired of hearing that Suge is going to jail every 3 months, and if he could pull his head out of the gutter for 5 minutes, maybe he might be able to head up some good music for another few years.
And, for those Suge haters, what better way to diss someone who has held a grudge against you for 8 years?
-
i didn't even waste my time reading any post other than tha one witt tha news coz i know some young'n is gonna pop off and say fuck Suge Knight and all that other garbage. Good move Snoop...........your doin' tha right thing and yes Suge did help alot in his career.............
Westcoast 4 Life............... :)
