Picked this CD up today, but haven't had a chance to listen yet. Wanted to see if anybody checks for them. I really liked their first album, but i've heard completely different takes on this cd. Some say its brilliant, some say its their biggest let down in years. I can't imagine that i will be disappointed, as Rage was my favorite band in my younger days, and Chris Cornell is one of the greatest vocalists in rock for the past 15+ years. Drop some thoughts. Peace

Yeah, I was disappointed as well. It might grow on me though, I just gotta listen to it more than once.
The single is great though.

wow forgot all about this, gotta check it out

i thought that rage's style does NOT compliment chris cornell's voice very well at all...
maybe i should give it another listen....
can someone hook it up in the hookup spot?
-
Really tried to get into this release but couldn't, was really disappointed with it. Same as with the first album, which was only slightly better, in my opinion Chris Cornell's voice doesn't compliment the tracks. Rage were one of my favourite bands and I just can't get into Audioslave.

their first album is incredible so i'm really looking forward to this one, especially after hearing the single, epace.

Well i've listened to the first 4 songs... I like to take my time with this shit and really analyze it. I remember when their first album dropped, it took me a while to really accept it because i so desperatly wanted a new Rage album. But after a while i really got into it and understood what they were trying to do. The basics of rage are still evident in this album. I love Morello's solos which there has been a generous helping of thus far. Brad Wilk and Timmy C are still one of, if not my favorite rhythm sections still around (flea & chad are up there). As for Cornell, what can i say? The guy has such an incredible voice, and is a talented writer. So therefore, those factors alone i know i will really enjoy and appreciate everything i will hear on this cd. The one thing that makes me nervous is Rick Rubin. No doubt the guy is a genius, but lately it seems like he has a tendancy to take a band's identity away, and replace with catchier, poppier stuff. I loved the last Chili Peppers album, but i think in a lot of ways, it was over produced. And thats what i worry about with this album. That he's gonna polish it so much that its gonna take away a lot of the edge in their music. Which is of course is what is happening to 95% of rock music these days. I'll post more after i've listened further. Peace

Didn't like the first Audioslave album, probably won't be checking this out

Amazing Album. Chris Cornell is a great singer/songwriter and it seems to me that this Audioslave is being overlooked from fans wanting another RATM album. Yeah some parts in some songs have the Rage sound but overall its just different and goes with Cornell's voice. The song that does remind however of RATM alot is Man or Animal but thatsa pretty much it.
Fav. tracks
Your Time Has Come
Out of Exile
Be Yourself
Doesn't Remind Me
Drown Me Slowly
The Worm
Man or Animal
