Title: Snoop dog beatdown..........!!!!!
Post by: Drudge on June 01, 2005, 05:56:26 AM

Assault was the case for Snoop Dogg--if you believe a man who says he suffered a beat-down at the hands of the rapper and his crew during a weekend concert.

Richard Monroe says he was seriously roughed up Saturday night during the Seattle stop of Snoop and the Game's How the West Was Won tour.

The 24-year-old man says he was invited up on stage by the two Southern California-based rap stars toward the end of the show. When he reached the platform, Monroe says he was kicked, punched and stripped of his diamond earrings by Snoop and the Game's crew. The 6-foot-3 Monroe says his wallet, cell phone and watch were swiped and he had alcohol dumped on him during the fracas, which continued as he was allegedly dragged backstage. "They beat me like a slave," he tells the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

No charges have yet been filed. Monroe gave police his statement Sunday night and, by Monday, was telling his side of the events to the news media. For their part, Snoop and the Game claim Monroe rushed the stage on his own, spooking the rappers, both of whom have been targeted in attacks before and both of whom employ several armed bodyguards.

The incident took place during a performance of Snoop's "Gin & Juice." Home video footage of the concert obtained and aired by local television, shows Monroe appearing behind Snoop. Monroe is seen putting his hand on the rapper's shoulder and then immediately swarmed by several people. It is not clear from the footage whether Snoop or the Game were involved, however.

But, one fan tells the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, "The Game was throwing everything he had into it, and you could see [rapper] Oowee moving back and forward and kicking the guy. I was kind of shocked."

Snoop's publicist, Meredith O'Sullivan, released a statement Tuesday denying that Monroe had been invited up to be with the performers. "Any person who jumps onstage at a concert has to be interpreted as a security threat and an immediate risk to both the performers onstage as well as the fans in the audience," she said. "Once a breach of security has been made, authorities are forced to take the proper measures to ensure safety."

The melee already has already affected the West Coast rap showcase, which is nearing the end of its U.S. tour. A planned Friday stop in Hartford, Connecticut, has been canceled, per MTV News, presumably because of the violence.

This isn't the first time Snoop Dogg or the Game have made violence-related headlines.

Earlier this year, the Game had a public falling out with mentor 50 Cent. Hours later, in what may have been a related incident, an acquaintance of the Game was shot outside a radio station. The Game and Fiddy eventually patched things up.

Snoop, meanwhile, was accused and then acquitted of murdering a gang member in a Los Angeles-area park 12 years ago. Snoop said he acted in self-defense. In 2003, Snoop survived an ambush as his motorcade drove through L.A.

While Monroe has not yet indicated he is planning a civil suit, should he eventually file, he'll have to get in line. Snoop was sued earlier this year by a woman who claims the rapper and his crew sexually assaulted her backstage during a 2003 Jimmy Kimmel Live performance. Snoop has denied the allegations.

How the West Was Won is next scheduled to stop at New Jersey's Giants Stadium June 5.

Our advice to fans: Remain seated.

Title: what do you think about the beatdown at the snoop concert....
Post by: DPG4Life on June 01, 2005, 08:50:51 AM
AFTER watching the movie?
video can be found here:
http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/index.php?topic=77964.0 - 3rd reply

ok, IT IS _VERY_ - let me repeat VERY - STUPID to jump on stage during such a huge concert, and its also stupid to think snoop invited him to,
but maybe he was high and in kinda trance (b/c its fucking hot in the front row of such a big concert)... maybe

BUT
this guy didnt want to attack snoop - i watched it several times, and he peacefully lays his hand on snoops shoulder and thats it - maybe another big mistake: hes rushing so fast to snoop....
snoop didnt expect noone to lay his hand on his shoulder, especially when he doesnt know that guy
so hes making a nervous reaction and thats when everybody rushes into the scene and beat this guy down, without asking any questions

so to me its an misunderstanding :-\
and a stupid move to jump on stage in the first place
but isnt this a HUGE mistake by the security? they shouldnt let any1 on stage that doesnt belong there in the first place, and if they make such a BIG mistake they have to take the responsability and quit such a fight, b/c it all started on their fault

to me the event-security (not snoops) did all wrong,
thats the kind of situation theyre trained for - thats what they earn their living with
but they seem to think all a security guard has to do nowadays is saying "nah, you cant go here" and looking grimmy....

to me as a fan its scarry to watch that movie, ok, im not stupid enough to do such a shit
but if i was a father whose daugther wanted to go to such a concert, id think about it twice, b/c she could've get into such a rumble everywhere else - neednt to be on stage...  and the musicians she wants to watch are pretty much fucked up, highly agressive and seem only to wait for such a situation to manage their anger :(

PS: that situation kinda reminds me on me shaking hands with game in a club in frankfurt, afterparty
cause first i touched him to on the arm or something when he went by, then the handshake - but his BWS security guard was looking at me as if he wanted to beat the shit out of me b/c of that

ok they ARE celebrities even though in february nobody really knew in germany what game looks like... but if you wanna get into contact with anybody less godlike like those celebrities.. then you simply do it that way if you dont get any eye contact with them before

so whats the deal, what am i trying to say?
security guards nowadays - not only the ones of the artists - are HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL
the artists use some agressive bullys from their hood as security guards, even death row only hired some old or fired cops!
ive seen a TV docu about profesional security, and they analysed tupacs death - the drive-by in vegas, they explained it, reconstructed an example of the scene in smaller size of course
and what the security did was nonsense... could have been done better... WAY better - maybe pac would  be even alive

so, the final question:
WHY do those celebrities spend only such a small amount of their income on SECURITY? why dont they spend more and get real professionals?
what do they win if they give the job to an old friend from back in the day, if this guy TRIES to save his life, but cant
the ticket for the snoop concert costed me 45€ - i guess all the tickets on any concert of this tour was about the same price
and the tickets were all gone, or almost all on every show - so why do they obviously spend only such a small amount of money on such a big deal?!?

whats your thoughts on that?

in venue security is the responsibility of the promoter not the artists.. if an artist brings their own security its up to them.

i aint seen the vid yet.. will in a bit..

yeah, but the in venue security should have catched him in the first place, when he tried to get on stage - thats my point of view - and they fucked up! i mean lets forget that all these artists and security on stage had some fun using this oppurtunity - looks like most of them are pretty much fucked up growing up in the environment they glorify (some of them do) in their lyrics

well the guy had this coming to him and he should have known better and Snoopīs security acted right. now itīs not weird that they beat the living shit outta him coz remember not too long ago when some guy jumped on stage and killed a guitarr player(forgot his name)and killed people in the audience? now if that wouldīve happened the security/artist(s) wouldīve been blamed too. this guy should have known better and if he canīt think before he acts then maybe his ass should stay at home.

ok, i havent heard about this :(

BUT then again, its not about snoops security - im blaming the in venue security - the ones standing in front of the stage... how the fuck could he come so far?!?

i dont wanna discuss whether the beating was ok or not, i think they overdid it a bit... maybe even a few bits - but they only got the chance to it b/c somebody else slept
and the other thing i wanted to discuss here was why artists spend only that lil amount of money on it

What a DUMBASS.  Nobody wants you to put your fuckin' hands on them.  These security guards don't know what the hell's going on... you get on stage, and grab Snoop's shoulder, I don't care if you look like doink the clown, you oughta get beat the fuck back off the stage.

Plus, is this ANYTHING new?  I've been to tons of shows, everytime somebody gets on stage they get the *shit* beat out of them.  I saw Metallica and James Hetfield beat the guy the fuck up HIMSELF.  I've seen Chris Jericho, Randy Savage, and Steve Austin beat up fans that jump in the ring at wrestling events (and I don't mean staged shit, I mean somebody jumps the ring, they beat them down, and then the camera pans away really fast).

Nowadays you dont' know what's going down... shit is CRAZY.  Snoop's had death threats against him, Dre got socked in the face at the Source Awards, Dimebag Darrell got killed on stage at that concert, the government's got everybody all hyped up about Terrorism... I mean shit the guy's lucky nobody shot his ass.

Fuck blaming the security, even the security that let him get on stage.  It's the guy's fault, and solely his fault that he was stupid enough at a concert to jump on stage.

The guy was plain stupid, and on the clip they said that several people had called in and said he didn't invite nobody on stage.  If he did invite somebody on stage I seriously doubt it would be a hard head lol

The guy got what was coming to him and Snoop's people did what they were supposed to do.

This guy is absoultely right. Dimebag is a great example. I don't blame the security guards.

man.. he just ran up to him and put his arm around him, he wasn't even swingin on him like people were sayin

Somebody comes up and grabs you from behind, what are you supposed to do?

Imagine you're famous, you're doing a show, there's 5 thousand people there.  Some fool runs up on stage, and actually grabs you.  Touches you.  Puts his hands on your shoulder.

You'd wild the fuck out!  I know I would, you turn around and some motherfucker you've never seen before has his hands on you?  Who the hell wants somebody touching them all the time?

Imagine you're security.  Some fan hops onto stage, and runs across the stage, with a smile on his face, at Snoop Dogg, probably the most famous rapper alive.  Snoop Dogg, who's had death threats against him.  Snoop Dogg, who's famously affiliated with one of the most hated gangs in America.  What do you think, in the 2 seconds you have to think?  A, or B?

A.  "Hmmm.  I don't know who he is, so I'll just watch and see what happens.  I know he shouldn't be up here, and I know I'm getting paid to keep people from getting near Snoop Dogg, but I'll just stand here and wait to see if he's violent or not.  I'm kind of afraid of him."

or

B. "OH HELLLLL NOOOO!!!"
