Title: Tupac could have been in Menace II Society?
Post by: gzs on June 14, 2005, 05:16:30 PM
I remember vaguely Tupac was being casted for Menace II Society. He got kicked of the set quickly after he ended up in a fist fight with one of the Hughes Brothers. Does anybody have some information on this situation, like what character Tupac was casted for?

I don't have any info on this, maybe try www.imdb.com ??

I do however know he was casted to  play either O-Dogg or Caine

Pac was promised to play the part of Caine, in the movie, but then they backed down and he was fired so he beat one of the Hug's Brothers with a baseball bat.

Thanks, couldn't find anything but some quotes. (see below)

I always doubted between O-Dog and Cain.

Amerika's Nightmare or The victim of the system.

Both would have fitted him well.

Imagine how even more legendary the movie would have been with Pac in it:

"Rebel without a cause"

On the other hand: there was a chance Snoop playing a role...

Hughes Brothers wanted Snoop, but didn't dare asking because of Death Row's reputation at the time.

Tupac playing Cain, Snoop playing O-dog?

Or just a Too Short like appearance?

What do you think?

the movie is perfect the way it is, it doesnt need Pac or Snoop. but 2Pac did a good job in "Juice"

I'm thinking it was a role on the lines of the Too $hort appearance, MC Eiht talked about it how Pac was in it in the Source Magazine, before the film came out, but Larenz Tate and Caine were already casted so that's what i remember...or they could have played Chauncy or Pooh-man's character more or less...they just wanted the star power of them to bring more attention to the film i think...remember Ice CUbe's role in The Glass Shield had him on the promo poster's and all but he wasnt even in the like that...

That's real...I don't think Snoop woulda been good in a movie doin any role until like the late 90s anyway. But damn, just the thought of Snoop n Pac in a movie just has you like damn, that shit sounds amazing huh?

I also remember hearin Janet didn't wanna kiss Pac in "Poetic Justice" because she knew he'd been gettin around (just like the song) and she thought he had AIDS or some shit like that.

I agree with that, sometimes i actually prefer it when they use unknown actors, because when its someone famous, i.e snoop dogg (in starsky and hutch), no matter how dressed up he is, hes still Snoop.. celebs are always type casted when they aint actually a proffesional actor, its just like when i look at larenz tate now, all i see is O-Dogg lol

I thought it was O-Dogg too that he was casted to play, but i dont think that he beat any of their asses.. maybe just "exchanged a few words"  ;D

^^^^Lol...true!
But nevertheless, Pac was a good actor and I think he would have made Cain's role even a bit more lively (and let's be honest...Caine's acting wasn't always that good either).

I think Pac might have played O Dogg's part better than he woulda done for Cain...Cain's acting was on point, because it really described that type of dude...wasn't 110% hood or wild like O Dog, and was damn near nervous about a lot, and he felt like he was trapped in the hood but you can tell he wanted to get out. Pac woulda played a role like O Dog's better, well at least with me thinkin of Death Row Pac, who was just crazy as hell and didn't give a damm like O Dog. But then Pac was a lot more calm in 92-93 so maybe he would have done Cain's part better back then.

Then one of em said that Pac had like a dozen crips with him and they grabbed one of the Hughes bros and they let Pac beat his ass...

there was some interview/quotes about this in a book... either The Killing Of Tupac Shakur or Have Gun Will Travel
Pac was set for one of the big roles... but he decided not to do it because he had some other thing goin on, and asked for another role.. they gave him a "sucker role" (that's what he called it), and he got mad.

her people told him he must get tested for aids or she would not kiss him.he told them to get fucked....

Tupac was a great actor no doubt.  His role as Bishop in Juice was amazing.

from the info ive seen, pac was probably set to play o-dogg, but couldnt, and was offered to play the muslim... he got offended and beat down one of the hughes brothers..

i personally think pac and/or snoop wouldve ruined the movie... its classic, cuz boyz n tha hood was way 2 soft for the real la

Pac wasnt happy about the role he was to play, from i what heard he was lined up to play the role of the loud ass homeboy who gets ass whooped badly for touching up Jada pinketts character and then snitches on everyone with that video tape. Pac read the script and got vexed rolled up with his homiez n some baseball bats and whooped on the hughes bros. They called the cops etc..

MC Ren was originally gonna play Eihts part but he didnt pull it off some shit so Eiht was chosen.

Eiht was dope in his role 'Both you bitches shut the fuck and pass me joint back' 'you in trouble nigga let me help you...pop,pop,pop..c'mon my niggas'.

I think Lawrence as O-dog, reached cult status, like a black Tony Montana. The American Nightmare.

Eiht really was the OG. Smooth motherfucker. Classic acting. Should do more movies.

Chauncy was the ultimate snitch. Classic acting. Dddddo i ssssttttuttter mottterfucka!

Rest of them was aight.

imo Pac wouldn't fit in this movie.... i haven't seen Juice, but he was AFWUL in Above The Rim, but then again... he was good in Gridlock'd, Poetic Justice and Gang Related...

Pac was promised to play the part of Caine, in the movie, but then they backed down and he was fired so he beat one of the Hug's Brothers with a baseball bat.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already but Pac didnt beat them with a baseball bat (Pac acutally assualted an local Michagan rapper with a bat), But according to PAc at the time, he punched one brother and the other took off running. But according to the Hugh Brothers, Pac showed up to the set with some Crips, and disturbing everything. When one of the brothers confronted Pac, the Crips got to whipping on both of the brothers. Pac later apologized to them though.
