Just read the new interview with Jermaine Dupri over at allhiphop.com. Daz gets mentioned briefly (JD says that he and Slim are ''waiting in the wings'') but then later on Dupri is listing all the artists that will be coming out on So So this year...needless to say there was no mention of Daz. He is, however, really plugging his new artists SunNY and Mikkey, as well as Young Capone and T. Waters. I have an unfortunate feeling that Daz has got lost in an over-populated roster over there. ''So So Gangsta'' in 2006? Even then, I'm not going to be holding my breath. :-\

i believe daz was gonna release 4 independant albums before so so gangsta. 2 of those albums have already dropped now.

The last time I read something about JD's upcoming complilation, Daz wasn't even mentioned. It's a bad sign when you're apparently not even in the running for a showcase album for your label.
I wonder if JD got pissed at Daz keeping on with his independant thang? (ie. DP Gangsta LP and Gangsta Crunk)...

True...but it would be nice to see Daz (or any West Coast artist) get some mainstream exposure. He can't get that on DPG/Gangsta Advisory which is probably where the new Pound album will come out on, just like ''Dillinger & Young Gotti'' and ''Tha Last Of Tha Pound''.
-
It seems like it, but what do you expect. JD has so many artists
-
with Tha Dogg Pound back in full swing, i doubt Daz or Kurupt for that matter are preparing for a solo to drop this year...I mean the new Dogg Pound album my put them in better positions to drop a solo that might actually sell records...Tha Dogg Pound album is set to drop this year ot early next year, the way Snoop is describing it it's not just a Snoop/Daz/Kurupt album, but everyone: Warren, Nate, Rbx, Rage, Soopafly etc. so how much Daz is recording for the album who knows? but Daz has been getting mroe attention than ever so it really doesnt matter...T.I. , Young Gunz, Snoop, J.D. he's featured on all those albums, or has worked with them this year, i say let him build a bigger fan base then drop an album, to me Daz should be on Kanye's level talking shit ( ::) well about how many classics he has under his belt for that matter...

he will get some mainstream exposure with the Pound ...since no one thought they would come back one day

Yup, I'm pretty sure there was an interview with Daz which asked him about JD's feelings on his independant releases, and he basically implied that he wasn't exactly happy about it but at the same time he couldn't prevent him from dropping those CD's. It does seem strange that Dupri was hyping him up a lot when he was newly signed and gaining a little buzz - now that has completely fizzled out.
Perhaps the move from Jive to Virgin messed with Daz a little bit. When they were on Jive they were apparently preparing to drop ''So So Gangsta'' and the ''Boyz N The Hood'' video (they released it as a 12" single as I recall) and that's when he was all over the DJ Kool Kid ''So So Def: Baped Out'' mixtape. He moves to Virgin and...nothing.
Or maybe JD just asked himself the million-dollar question: ''how the hell do I market DAZ (!) to the legion of teenyboppers that buy my music???''.

Daz is talking too much shit...and as far as I know....Daz aint the best signed artist to SoSo Def , so I understand why all the hype bout dude is over
-
Daz should stick to producin'. Does anybody know if Daz had something to do with the production of that Tipsy track? Somehow it seems like he has had an influence on that.

nah man!!! TrackBoyz on this muthafucka
-
trackboyz are fucking bitters. fuck them.
Whats more fucked up is that J.D. signed that dude SunN.Y. a few months ago from when he was on 106 and Park freestyle Fridays. this was around April. Now his album is coming out that fast.. Daz has been their for years and he aint releasing shit.

thats simple man...SunN.Y is more Marketable than Daz, dude could easily have a fan base , while Daz only have a lil bit more than the dubcc posters...and I guess Daz dont wanna let JD handle his whole career anyway
-
Whatever, Daz already dropped 2 albums in the past 6 months, so I've definitely gotten my Daz fix for a while. And with the Dogg Pound coming back, I'm sure we'll have enough Daz to hold us over for a long time.

Yeah I know, but don't it remind you of daz. There is that signature daz sound to it. That zoom bass in it. He has used that many times before, like on Gang Banging Ass Criminal on Retaliation. Are there other tracks where the trackboys use that sound?
-
when the fuck are you guys gonna realize this
DAZ IS NEVER GONNA DROP AN ALBUM ON SO SO DEF
I said it years ago, you really have to be dumb to believe he will actually drop an album on so so def.
-

would be nice for Daz to be recognized mainstream, however, as 2pac said "All I want is money, fuck the fame, I'm a simple man". I bet Daz doesn't mind sellin 100,000 copies independently since he'd make more off independent sales than if he went Gold or Platinum on a major
-
would be nice to see another daz mainstream album with bettert sound quality
-
if DPG drops, who cares, you know he'll come out with one later
-
to be real...Daz burned a lot of bridges. and now its comin back for him. he'll never drop on so so def
-
daz will never drop on a major, ever again, I gaurantee it.
-
Daz is supposed to be doing beats on TI's group PSC's album and I just recently heard something about he might be doing beats on Ludacris next album. As far as his album on So So Def it should be coming out like late this year or more than likely early next year.
-
i think daz lp wont drop untill next year for some reason my antcipation for that album is pretty much gone and would rather hear a new dpg album instead. 8) 8) 8)
-
daz has been with so so def for 2 years....he should just leave so so def if JD's putting him in the backburner....he might as well leave cuz jd is focusing on other artists and not him....
-
as long as Daz can do what he does independantly at the same time, why not stay signed with So So? I'm sure they give him some form of payment jusr for being signed... and it opens alot of doors when it comed to collabos and stuff. somehow i doubt that he'd be doing stuff with Young Gunz and T.I. if he wasn't at So So...
