Can anyone reccomend me some of their good tracks/ album? I hear a lot of hype around this band but I only got to hearing Stairway to Heaven...
props iiien advizzance
-
oh really? oh thats hella sick, thanks guys!
aka bump :P
-
um, album #4 is my favorite:
a couple of sick songs: black dog & going to california
honestly u could probably download their whole discography and recognize at least 70% of the songs from movies and radio and shit. they're off the hook. i would hook u up, but i don't have anything of theirs on my right now (it's back home)...
-
1 through 4 and Houses Of The Holy are all great albums. Some great songs include Dy'er Ma'ker, Dancing Days, Since I've Been Loving You, Heartbreaker, and Dazed and Confused to name a few.
-
The vast majority of their stuff is worth blowing your dough on. As for albums, start with III or IV, then get the rest
Some of my fav songs:
Stairway To Heaven
Kashmir
When The Levee Breaks
Immigrant Song
Babe I´m Gonna Leave You
Black Dog
Ramble On
D´yer Mak´er
-
Dazed & Confused and Baby I'm gonna leave you are my favorites. You should get the best of double CD!
Amazing band...
-
this is the band, were like, the majority of their songs are amazing, or at least good... i got too many favs, but download any album, i think IV is the best, but many may disagree
-
Besides from the obvious singles (i.e. Kashmir, Black Dog, Rock & Roll, etc) my favourite tracks would probably be;
Heartbreaker
Dazed and Confused
Communication Breakdown
Misty Mountain Hop
Gallows Pole
Bring It On Home
Night Flight
etc
Favourite Album = II
-
start with there greatest hits...The Best of Led Zeppelin - Early Days...and Latter Days
Basically the Early stuff is when they were on top of the world..latter is when they started to fall (not really)
my personal favorites
Dazed and Confused
Good Times, Bad Times
When the Levee breaks
Baby Im Gonna Leave you
-
IV is the best. other songs besides on that album that are popular
Kashmir, whole lotta love....actually i could go on for a while. Start with IV if you like them then keep getting more albums.
-
IV is a good starter as many have pointed out, but I don't think it's their best. I'd say II is their best, then Houses Of The Holy, then I, then III then IV. May seem weird to most.
-
Ramble On
Good Times Bad Times
Over the Hills and Far Away <<My fav song
The Battle of Evermore
When the Levee Breaks
Immigrant Song
-
when the levee breaks is my favorite song by them
-
Thanks for replies, i thought IV was pretty good but it was too short for me, even tho the songs were like 8 or 9 mins each I think 8 songs a lil.. low but arent all the albums like that? I was feeling some of the tracks but others got repeitive after awhile..but then again I haven't checked any of their other albums...
peace

u gotta remember, back when led zepplin released their albums, 8 or 9 tracks was pretty much standard. everybody in the music industry only put out 8 or 9 tracks an album, because they actually wrote and had to perform all of their songs. in rap and popular music, 19-20 tracks is pretty much standard because the times have definately changed - artists aren't really writing their 'music'...beats are created on computers...there are a lot of factors....

...and there wasnt even enough place for more music on one LPs

when the levee breaks is my favorite song by them
Oh yeah, The drums in "Levee Breaks" are off the chart. But they're best in my opinion is the whole album of Physical Graffiti, In my time of Dying, Black Country Woman, and Kashmir.
-
Even on rock albums now you dont get many with over 12 tracks on it.
-
when the levee breaks is my favorite song by them
same here...old blues song 8)
-
So is their greatest hits cd any good?
-
yeah i got it, its good.
its just a cd of all their popular songs, which you'd probably like.

im going tonight to see a Zep boys concert
now for those of you who dont know, the Zep Boys are the worlds best Led Zeppelin ocver band. Ive seen them a couple of times before and they are fukn excellent.
if you closed your eyes, youd think you were listening to the original band play. even the singer hits all the high notes that Robert Plant did. theyre that fukn good!!
but it doesnt end there.......................tonights show is the first time EVER that led zeppelins music will be played accompanied by a FULL symphony orchestra.
you heard right........................the music of led zeppelin with an orchestra behind it. Think of songs like Kashmir, Rain song and countless others and how good theyre gonna sound with 30 plus musicians behind them
i cant wait!
will let you know how it went after the show

We have a band in Toronto called Michael White and The White, and they're a great Zep cover band too. They are even endorsed by Jimmy Page.
-
there something about cover bands that i dont like, id rather pop in a cd, then watch some band try to be led zeppelin, even if they sound similar

No, not at all. I find high notes easy to hit. Why, are they generally difficult for most people?
-
Ok so far I've listen to II, III, and IV..
II...thought was garbage
III... I actually enjoyed alot but I wish it was longer
IV...Loved half the songs, hated the other half
Now to listen to I, and the houses of holy album
-

Not so much at normal volume, but at the volume Plant sings it it is hard. When you say you can hit the notes, do you also mean can sing like Plant, or just hit a random high note?

damn..personally i'd say II was their best, ah well each to their own. But if you didn't like II and IV you probably won't like their debut. Only other album i could suggest after those would be Physical Graffiti

You have to realize that music is like cuizine. If you aren't used to a certain type of cooking you won't like it at first. You havs to aquire a teaste for it. Listen to those albums every now and then and after a year or tow you may think something totally different. Saying Zep II is garbage is just wrong. Of course I know a guy who loves Dip Set and G Unit, I played him Moment of Truth by Gangstarr and he said it sucked. He'll realize he was wrong after a couple years.
-
Lol, yeah I know... I was just saying what I thought of it in the moment, I know I'm not immediatley going to get into classic rock when I've just been bumping harder stuff...
Btw I thought Houses of The Holy was freaking dope as hell..."No Quarter" is a sick ass song

Do you like Pink Floyd?
-
I've heard a few of their songs and I really liked them. (Hey you, Comfortably numb,Good-bye Blue Sky)

I only asked because No Quarter is very Floydish and I thought maybe you were already a fan of Floyd since you like NQ so much.

when i first started listening to classic rock, or rock in general, i would take a couple cds, and keep them on repeat for a whole week, so i would listen to each one at least 10 times, then after the week would be done, i would decide wether i like them or not, at first you kinda force yourself to listen but then you either still dont like it, but in my case, think its amazing... btw you should def check out some floyd

the show was on friday night and let me just say, it was one of the best shows ive EVER been too
it was truly a remarkable experience
to hear the music of led zeppelin played at such a high standard with a full backing orchestra complimenting it was an experience
they received several standing ovations from the sold out show
one thing i liked is that they chose songs which would go together well with an orchestra, rather than just choose songs and have an orchestra playing behind it (does that make sense??)
kashmir, rain song, moby dick and all my love were the highlights
cause it was such a success, i believe theyre gonna look at putting on more shows like that in the near future. i'll be going again and i suggest you makie sure you get your tickets this time Midori. you wont be disappointed!!
