...if West Coast fans werent so close minded
Young Rome
Yall might remember him as Romeo from Immature. Most of the West Coast never even gave him a listen. Why? Because he's a young party rapper. Take a look at Lil Bow Wow. A young party rapper who's been on the top of the charts since he was 13. Why? Because his coast/state/city never hated on him and he ended up doing big things. Young Rome had that same potential to come out & take all the teenage girls as his fanbase. But I guess if he expects to get love he should take his shirt off, put on a bandanna, and start rappin about guns.
Guerilla Black
Im gonna use Ja Rule as his comparision. For a while Ja was on some real 'im 2pac' type shiet. But his fans kept buying his music cuz he was doin his thing. Now...Guerilla Black got hated on from day 1 because he sounds like Biggie. So fuckin what?! If New York can have lil imitation 2Pacs then why cant we have a West Coast biggie?
The Game
Now supprisingly The Game made it. But on his way to the top he had to deal with a lot of bullshiet from his own coast. How man diss tracks did we have to hear from cats just cus he was rollin with 50? I mean for the longest everyone was crying that no one gives West Coast artist a chance; Game comes out & he's all over New York mixtapes, gettin a lot of love from The Source & XXL, etc. HYPOCRITES!
Houston
Whats the difference between him & Usher? 7.5 million records. Ive heard both "Confessions" and "Its Already Written" and Houston is way better. So why didnt he sell? West Coast fans still have that 'too tough for r&b' attitude. But Atlanta was happy to show Usher love & buy "Confessions". (This also applies for Ray-J, he should be big too).
Skee-Lo
I hear cats around here mention him a lot. Im positive a lot of cats didnt show him love just cuz his style is 'soft'. But a party rapper is just what we need. Take a look at Mase. Why did everyone like him? Cuz he was a real laid back rapper who made feel good music.
Doggy's Angels
Take Big Chan, Cognac, and Kola Loc and let them battle Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, and Eve and lets see who has real talent. I really have no idea why they didnt make it big. Could it be because the West Coast has that 'fuck a bitch' attitude? Ive heard a few cats say that about Gail Gotti without even giving her a fair chance. (Who by the way, is also taltented)
I could go on forever but I hope yall get the point by now. West Coast fans: stop being close minded. The radio and tv are NEVER going to play that grimey type music yall listen too. Singles are ment for the clubs and thats NEVER gonna change. Like I been saying, the only way the West is gonna come back is if we support ourself.

Montell and Jon B are still dropping heat, but not getting enough promotion. I bet many people here still don't know about Montell's self tited album featuring WC and half produced by Focus. And Jon B's latest album featuring 2Pac.
-
yea i got the jon b, was dope - not got new montell though - someone hit me with that! sounds tight!

Self titled one came out in 2002. Def Jam fucked him up and it came out only in Europe.
Last one is 2003's "Life after Def", not as westcoast sounding, but still nice.
I'll try to hook you up with "Montell Jordan" thru the week ;)

cheers man, holla of you need anything ;)

I sorta agree with some that you put, but Houston is nowhere near Usher's level, and I'm not even an Usher fan. His voice range is nowhere near Usher's, and he can't dance nearly as good, and he just doesn't have the personality it takes to make it. He seemed kinda weird, and like he was trapped into that R&B thug profile and didn't know which one he wanted to be.

whatever happened to the eye gouging incident.
-
who cares. I listen to music because I LIKE the music, not because I want to get the west coast publicity. I ain't makin a dime off these rappers, so I don't give a fuck.

shit what about roscoe?
e-40?
Mac Dre?
Jayo Felony with Watcha gonna do
these guys had heated raps, heated production, they made songs for the clubs, for the radio, for the ladies, and above all they made good music. I can't say the same for anyone you listed.

MAC MOTHAFUCKIN DRE would shit on anyone nowadays and no one takes the time to realize it. him and e-40 have been doin it since the late 80's and pretty much invented slang today. those are my cuddys

Doggy's Angels didn't sell because they look like dykes and rap like guys. Honestly, Young Rome's album wasn't tite at all, and I like all that Immature/B2K shit.

Yup
West coast rap fans are the most passionate in all of hip hop and most critical. If that shit doesn't sound like the golden era 92-96 shit, then it's wack according to most people. They hate too much. That's why the west will never shine.

ya and the fact that, a lotta west coast dudes want to keep it westcoast or else they think they'll be taken out of the hood and are not liable as a gangsta.
Guerilla Black is an impersanation of one of the most popular rappers, and if your not up to par with that rapper than your nothing.
Game, knows the right people and put hte right people on his song at the right time and he is where he is because of that
Houston cant be big unless he starts dropping more singles.

LMAO! that type of shit cracks me up. WEST COAST FANS ARE THE ONLY ONES BUYING WEST COAST MUSIC! west is only getting support from the west. if you are gonna talk about hating, then talk about the other areas, because the west is the only region that is supporting itself. You tell me how many people in New York bump E-40 on the reg. radio stations hate on the west, magazines hate on the west, record labels hate on the west, people outside of the westcoast hate on the west. if it were not for westcoast fans, the avg westcoast album would sell 20k copies max instead of 100,000+. LOL, I bet you a million bucks 95% of Mitchy Slicks record sales came outta california. and you guys say we are hating? hell no. we recognize good music.

haaa! i feel you on the dancing. i remember that access granted. it looked like he didnt know how to dance so they just made him 2step, do a few arm movements, and let the background dancers take care of the rest.
but vocally he's waaay better. download "Keep it On the Low" or "Twizzla" or "Bye Bye Love"
