I persoanlly dont think Tim burton is as great as everyoen akes him out to be, all of his movies are hte same, there is no real range in his directing past the first batman, everything is some kind of dark, weird movie for wannabe goths or somethingbut thats just my own opinion, I also think Johnny Depp is highly overrated as well, good actor, but not as great as most would make him out to be.

whatever bro..."hollywood is in a state of emergency"....hollywood has been doing remakes for years! You can't talk about remakes not being ok in movies when artists are using older songs all the time...does Riders on the storm by snoop and the doors ring a bell? how about can't nobody hold me down...that was a remake of the message...or def squads rappers delight....sugarhill gang probably thought it was a cool idea....the fact is remakes are done all the time in movies or music...and we listen to the music remakes right?
(in my own defense i find snoops remake of riders on the storm to be one of the worst songs i've ever heard)

With music, whatever band can do their version of a song which will be their style. With movies, there are two main things that justifies a remake if its made to give a new idea or it lies in a different era where it actually is shown in the remake( like Scarface).

I know, I'd rather see original movies instead of remakes. There's plenty of original stories out there but nobody makes them because that means the studio has to take a chance.
They take the easy route, remake a classic because it's guaranteed to make at least 100 mil. That's hardly even a guarantee anymore.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (The Burton Remix). The movie is not set in a certain era where you can just change it to fit the new environment of the current era. From the previews all i see is shiny colors, depp acting silly, the character of kids...wtf do I need to see that shit for if i can just rent the original. Comparing remixes and covers of songs to remakes is pretty off.

This version is much truer to the book then the original one.
In the original movie version (doesn't anyone realise these are 2 movies based on the same book,instead of 1 movie remaking another???) Willy Wonka is an eccentric friendly man.
In this one,Willy Wonka is a much more manipulative person of which we really can't say if he even likes kids or plain hates them. That's Roald Dahl to the fullest.
This one wins it,definately.

I saw it on Friday (day of release over here), and thought I was a really dope movie. As has been said already, this one was much closer to the book than the original, and I thought Johnny Depp played Willa Wonka perfectly. The funniest thing is that in interviews hes been saying that he based his performance on Michael Jackson, and you can really see that throughout the film. Its dope because kids can enjoy it on one level, and adults on another different level, so like almost all of Tim Burton's films anyone can watch it and still get something out of the film. Definitely worth seeing.
