Kurupt's verse on Lyrical Gangbang destryos all other verses of those tracks (although they were all classic)
but the serial killa g funk beat is unfuckwitable too so it ain't possible to make a decision

and i'm gonna get murdered for this but I think Kurupts flow on 'Lyrical Gangbang' is way over the top with making his voice sound more deeper and more vicious then it is . But then I'm not much of a Kurupt fan anyway.
The beat to Serial Killa is way doper and Snoop's verse is so phenonemal...and RBX just finishes the track with a whole other twist,he should have been on more of Doggystyle IMO. In fact, I think this was the first sign Dre and RBX were drifting away from each other in musical orientation..in 1994, we don't hear anything from RBX really while he only left completely in late '94/early'95.

I gotta admit, "Lyrical Gangbang" was probably my least favorite track on The Chronic. Lyrically, there are no flaws but the beat is repetive after a while. I can understand that though, as the track called for a battle rap, hard beat. "Serial Killa" is fucking crazy, the beat is classic and dark, and everyone shines on the mic. Kurupt sets it up real tight, Daz murders it on his verse...Snoop drops one of his best 16's and RBX delivers the performance of a life-time with his delivery.

you like RBX and you find it over the top how a rapper changes his voice to make it sound more vicious ?
personally I appreciate versatility in flows / styles. In this case, I don't even think Kurupt changed it much, it's just the only time ever he rapped that loud. The rugged style fitted the track perfectly though imo.

IMO, a song can have the best lyrics ever, but if it doesn't have a decent beat, I won't listen to it. On the other hand, a song can have the worst lyrics but have a bangin' beat and I'll listen to it all the time.
On The Chronic, Lyrical Gangbang leads right into High Powered, one of the most gangsta beats of that entire period. The track before Lyrical Gangbang is the $20 Sack Pyramid skit, one of the best skits on a hip hop album ever. Therefore, Lyrical Gangbang gets overshadowed... even if it's lyrically superior.
On Doggystyle, Serial Killa leads right into one of the biggest hits in hip hop history -- Who Am I (What's My Name)? The track before Serial Killa was also a huge hit -- Murder Was The Case. But even then, Serial Killa still shines. This is why I say Serial Killa is way better than lyrical gangbang.
Serial Killa gets my vote.

Very poetic, but I still go with Lyrical Gangbang. I dont think the beat is monotome, its right on point. I agree songs get overshadowed, but only until u get the feel of the album right? I mean, I dont "not-listen" to Serial Killa because Whats My Name is right after it ::)

Diggfinger - You made my point... I don't "not listen" to Serial Killa because of Murder Was The Case and What's My Name? But I DO "not listen" to Lyrical Gangbang because of Rat-Tat-Tat-Tat and High Powered.
Again, I personally put a lot of weight on the beat of a song... If I focus on just lyrics, I thing they are both at the same level.

I don't think we should judge which song is better by it's placement on an album, I think you should judge it as an independent record. They're both great songs though so who cares.
