i've never owned a 12''....though I know many places to get them...I also don't own any equipment to play them. Can you guys recommend some good equipment? somewhere around the $150-250 range?
-
its funny cos i never owned a turntable either, but im already building up my collection of 12" and lps, and i have already payed good money for some of them. $50 for k-dee, $30 for dj quik sumemr breeze, etc.. and i still never heard them hahaha. so i could use some suggestions from this thread too..
like luke, i aint looking for something to scratch with, i just want to play records..
-
exactly...theres a lot of stuff available on records thats not on cds....also what equipment do you need to hook this stuff up? does it just hook into a stereo reciever or what?
-
i know www.turntablelab.com is a good site for checking everything out. but i still wouldnt mind some recommendations and reviews from forum members.
-
You need a turntable, a reciever and speakers to hook up to the reciever. Recievers are dirt cheap, you can find them in pawn shops for under $10 and if you want to buy a good turntable, I got one for like $75.

i got mine from my grandfatehr when he died. its a nice one built into a cabniet, i dont know the brand off top, but today i bought purple rain and 2 jim hendrix albums

The industry choice are the Technics 1200s, but I find it unlikely you will be able to get one for the price range you mentioning. For just playing vinyl any standard record player should be fine. You should be able to find a record player seperate for your current stereo setup if you wanna keep everything looking the same. They just hook up to the back of your stereo in the same way as a cd deck, tape player, etc.

I second this the 1200's are dj industry standard
