Title: Truest Rap Lyrics Ever
Post by: Trauma-san on June 15, 2002, 01:47:29 PM
Hey, Lets start this new thread, with the Truest rap lyrics ever.  Yall know a lotta time cats rap about stuff and they're just flossin', or saying stuff that you know they ain't doing, or is just made up: Example, Dr. Dre - Deep Cover. LOL.  It might be dope, but it ain't true, ya underdig?   Well, anyways, lets all post lines or verses from rappers, it can be anyone, west, east, south, whatever, that are the realest stuff they ever wrote.  You can put any rapper up, but it has to be TRUE.  I'll give ya an example (which is eastcoast, but I hope they leave this in the westcoast forum, so we can get everybody's thoughts on it).

Respond with whether you think yeah, nah, or whatever... and also, explain why you think the verse you put up is true, or whatever.  Here's 1 to start off with, that I felt I should put up, for some reason.

Outkast - Rosa Parks
Emcee: Andre 3000

"And I hope I never have to float in that boat
Up shit creek it's weak is the last quote
That I want to hear when I'm goin down when all's said and done
And we got a new joe in town
When the record player get to skippin and slowin down
All yawl can say is them niggas earned that crown but until then..."

I think this is a down ass verse, because Andre and Big Boi obviously put a ton of time into their stuff, so that when it's all over, we can all say they earned the crown, instead of people saying "Aw, they fell off after album number 3" or whatever... all their stuff is solid, consistant, and everything he says in that verse is true.  Anybody got any other ones?

Here's another good one (rud, thanks for the copy-paste, lol)

Mc Ren
Keep It Real

"But I gotta lotta love for my people
And like they ain't tryin', niggaz just keep dyin'
I won't be like most niggaz and just come
And shoot my video in Compton and disappear for a year
We make fools like that shake the spot
One for the treble jack yo ass in the parkin' lot
'Cause handkerchief headed niggaz come around fakin'
Braggin' 'bout that money they be makin'
Boot lickin' butt dancin' niggaz just better chill
Before I tell 'em how I feel and that's real"

Ren always has stayed down with his neighborhood, and there are a lot of rappers that just go to compton to shoot videos.  And those boot lickin' butt dancin' folkx DO need to chill. LOL.  Real Verse.

Somebody wake me I'm dreamin, I started as a seed the semen
Swimmin upstream, planted in the womb while screamin
on the top, was my pops, my momma screamin stop
From a single drop, this is what they got
Not to disrespect my peoples but my poppa was a loser
Only plan he had for momma was to fuck her and abuse her
Even as a little seed, I could see his plan for me
Stranded on welfare, another broken family
Now what was I to be, a product of this heated passion
Momma got pregnant, and poppa got a piece of ass
Look how it began, nobody gave a fuck about me

classic 2pac shit (from still i rise.. from ermm still i rise.. lol)

ohh i just read trauma's 'orders''.. i think it explains itself... about how the 'father' just wants a piece of ass and doesnt care about the outcome.

There are so many dope verses it is impossible to place them all.  Here a couple of classics.

Nas - It Ain't Hard To Tell
It ain't hard to tell, I excel, then prevail
The mic is contacted, I attract clientele
My mic check is life or death, breathin a sniper's breath
I exhale the yellow smoke of buddha through righteous steps
Deep like The Shinin', sparkle like a diamond
Sneak a uzi on the island in my army jacket linin
Hit the Earth like a comet, invasion
Nas is like the Afrocentric Asian, half-man, half-amazin
Cause in my physical, I can express through song
Delete stress like Motrin, then extend strong
I drank Moet with Medusa, give her shotguns in hell
From the spliff that I lift and inhale, it ain't hard to tell

Rakim - My Melody
I'm not a regular competitor, first rhyme editor
Melody arranger, poet, etcetera
Extra events, the grand finale like bonus
I am the man they call the microphonist
With wisdom which means wise words bein spoken
Too many at one time watch the mic start smokin
I came to express the rap I manifest
Stand in my way and I'll lead a  ? words protest
MC's that wanna be dissed they're gonna
Be dissed if they don't get from in fronta
All they can go get is me a glass of Moet
A hard time, sip your juice and watch a smooth poet
I take 7 MC's put em in a line
And add 7 more brothas who think they can rhyme
Well, it'll take 7 more before I go for mine
And that's 21 MC's ate up at the same time
Easy does it, do it easy, that's what I'm doin
No fessin, no messin around, no chewin
No robbin, no buyin, bitin, why bother
This slob'll stop tryin fightin to follow
My unusual style will confuse you a while
If I was water, I flow in the Nile
So many rhymes you won't have time to go for your's
Just because of a cause I have to pause
Right after tonight is when I prepare
To catch another sucka duck MC out there
Cos my strategy has to be tragedy, catastrophe
And after this you'll call me your majesty
My melody...

Genius on Wu-Tang Clan's - Protect Ya Neck
The Wu is too slammin for these Cold Killin labels
Some ain't had hits since I seen Aunt Mabel
Be doin artists in like Cain did Abel
Now they money's gettin stuck to the gum under the table
That's what ya get when ya misuse what I invent
Your empire falls and ya lose every cent
For tryin to blow up a scrub
Now that thought was just as bright as a 20-watt light bulb
Should of pumped it when I rocked it
Niggaz so stingy they got short arms and deep pockets
This goes on in some companies
With majors they're scared to death to pump these
First of all, who's your A&R
A mountain climber who plays an electric guitar
But he don't know the meaning of dope
When he's lookin for a suit and tie rap
that's cleaner than a bar of soap
And I'm the dirtiest thing in sight
Matter of fact bring out the girls and let's have a mud fight

Dope ass verse indeed, but you missed the entire point of the post. He meant things that the rapper actually did, so you think Nas really met Medusa? I think not.

Quote

I drank Moet with Medusa, give her shotguns in hell

Anyways, Soulja Slim is a real ass rapper.

Nice I also like his line in the song where he says, "I don't eat swine, but I'll take a turkey burger/ I can't fade worms, that porks full of germs"...... It reminds me of the scene in Menace to Society when they are chillin at the park.

inspector deck-  creamVerse Two: Inspector Deck

It's been twenty-two long hard years of still strugglin
Survival got me buggin, but I'm alive on arrival
I peep at the shape of the streets
And stay awake to the ways of the world cause shit is deep
A man with a dream with plans to make C.R.E.A.M.
Which failed; I went to jail at the age of 15
A young buck sellin drugs and such who never had much
Trying to get a clutch at what I could not... could not...
The court played me short, now I face incarceration
Pacin -- going up state's my destination
Handcuffed in back of a bus, forty of us
Life as a shorty shouldn't be so ruff
But as the world turns I learned life is hell
Living in the world no different from a cell
Everyday I escape from Jakes givin chase, sellin base
Smokin bones in the staircase
Though I don't know why I chose to smoke sess
I guess that's the time when I'm not depressed
But I'm still depressed, and I ask what's it worth?
Ready to give up so I seek the Old Earth
Who explained working hard may help you maintain
to learn to overcome the heartaches and pain
We got stickup kids, corrupt cops, and crack rocks
and stray shots, all on the block that stays hot
Leave it up to me while I be living proof
To kick the truth to the young black youth
But shorty's running wild smokin sess drinkin beer
And ain't trying to hear what I'm kickin in his ear
Neglected, but now, but yo, it gots to be accepted
That what?  That life is hectic

Ghostface killah-  all that i got is you

Yo, dwellin in the past, flashbacks when I was young
Whoever thought that I'd have a baby girl and three sons
I'm goin through this difficult stage I find it hard to believe
Why my old Earth had so many seeds
But she's an old woman, and due to me I respect that
I saw life for what it's really worth and took a step back
Family ain't family no more, we used to play ball
Eggs after school, eat grits cause we was poor
Grab the pliers for the channel, fix the hanger on the TV
Rockin each others pants to school wasn't easy
We survived winters, snotty nosed with no coats
We kept it real, but the older brother still had jokes
Sadly, daddy left me at the age of six
I didn't know nuttin but mommy neatly packed his shit
She cried, and grandma held the family down
I guess mommy wasn't strong enough, she just went down
Check it, fifteen of us in a three bedroom apartment
Roaches everywhere, cousins and aunts was there
Four in the bed, two at the foot, two at the head
I didn't like to sleep with Jon-Jon he peed the bed
Seven o'clock, pluckin roaches out the cereal box
Some shared the same spoon, watchin saturday cartoons
Sugar water was our thing, every meal was no thrill
In the summer, free lunch held us down like steel
And there was days I had to go to Tex house with a note
Stating "Gloria can I borrow some food I'm dead broke"
So embarrasin I couldn't stand to knock on they door
My friends might be laughin, I spent stamps in stores
Mommy where's the toilet paper, use the newspaper
Look Ms. Rose gave us a couch, she's the neighbor
Things was deep, my whole youth was sharper than cleats
Two brothers with muscular dystrophy, it killed me
But I remember this, mom's would lick her finger tips
To wipe the cold out my eye before school wit her spit
Case worker had her runnin back to face to face
I caught a case, housin tried to throw us out of our place
Sometimes I look up at the stars and analyze the sky
And ask myself was I meant to be here... why?

dj quik-  thinkin of u-
I used to watch you walk to class, fine as can be
While I'm standing here with K.K. and D
And I did a liitle bit of everything just to get your attention
But I knew you had no eyes for me
I used to get up, sharpen my pencil for nothin
You watch me watch you rollin your eyes and you still was bumpin
So when test time came I was all in yours
With no bubbles on my papers just some low ass scores
I guess you can call it puppy love I was a scrub
Having fantasies of me and you up in my tub
Makin love in the soapy water, having my daughter
But I knew you liked them baller dudes and, I did'nt have a quarter
I admit on the rainy days it was sad
Cause it was'nt about who you was but what you had
Now i'm doing swell baby and you know it's true
Back when you had a chance you should've let me breath on you

HaVoc of Mobb deep-  peer pressure

As a young black teen, everyday I, deal
with the pressure and mixed up is how I feel
I walk the streets with a fuck you attitude
And when it comes to my peoples you ain't half as rude
Follow the crowd or be a leader, take your pick
Now I'm smokin buddha philly blunt style
A frustrated and confused young juvenile
King of the project blues so I choose
To take a piece of the action
But my sober state of mind won't let it happen
So twenty-four-seven it's the number one stresser
Dealin with the peer pressure

I could put a lot of pac an eminem

oh yea,  biggie suicidle thoughts

4 me it's.......

2pac - Only God Can Judge Me (1st verse)

Perhaps I was blind to the facts, stabbed in the back
I couldn't trust my own homies just a bunch a dirty rats
Will I, succeed, paranoid from the weed
And hocus pocus try to focus but I can't see
And in my mind I'ma blind man doin time
Look to my future cause my past, is all behind me
Is it a crime, to fight, for what is mine?
Everybody's dyin tell me what's the use of tryin
I've been Trapped since birth, cautious, cause I'm cursed
And fantasies of my family, in a hearse
And they say it's the white man I should fear
But, it's my own kind doin all the killin here
I can't lie, ain't no love for the other side
Jealousy inside, make em wish I died
Oh my Lord, tell me what I'm livin for
Everybody's droppin got me knockin on heaven's door
And all my memories, of seein brothers bleed
And everybody grieves, but still nobody sees
Recollect your thoughts don't get caught up in the mix
Cause the media is full of dirty tricks
Only God can judge me

Krayzie Bone from Bone Thugs N Harmony - Its all mo Thug off the album art of war

I just wanna seperate from the pressures, baby
Or maybe,
I was meant to live my life caught up in this world of games
In God's name I pray
The devil, he be bringin me down
I can feel him cause he pullin me now,
Iv'e been blessed wit an incredable style
When this mission is to try to separate us, wanna break us on down
Now ain't that foul,
So I asked the Lord to help me
"Lord, why does this life overwhelm me?"
When we livin in hell,
But we cherish everyday like we in heaven
Oh well,
But time will tell,
Singin, "This is for the ringin of the bell, the bell, the bell."
But it be hard to maintain and stay peacefull
If you turn over to the devil then the devil will beat you, defeat you, deceive you, evil,
He will never leave you alone
I've been lookin for a better day,
But they don't ever seem to want to come my way (my way)
Hey, I'm havin' hell of a time
Tryin to make it cause my people steady stressin my mind,
So I stay high
So, I'm really sinnin' on the top of sinnin'
Whether you're with me, it's deadly in the venom.
If it get up in your head, could really send you on the deadly mission. Keep your distance from the flames..... maybe you can survive forever n a day.

Alright, I'm about to come stompin' through with a Godzilla verse.  Check this Sh*t from Postdynous... This stuff is hard enough to make me cry, I can't front... this guy is a genius.  Both of these songs were off De La's last album, Bionix, which went WHOLY unnoticed by everyone, but was probably the deepest they've got yet.  Check this crap, this cat is mature beyond me, for sure.

De La Soul - Held Down (Featuring Cee-Lo)
Emcee - Posdnuos (Plug One The Wonder)
Verse 2:
"Yo, I'm never singin the blues but findin the clues to maintain
And I been blessed to reign supreme over nearly every dream
I had, and I made it come true
I'm an imperfect man and I'm holdin the clue
to perfection, it doesn't seem to matter what direction I look
I find people settin traps
Tryin to find the goal - without havin any maps
Even friends of mine, jumped on line, just to become my adversary
They felt they were entitled to the dairy I made
They don't come to chill or behave
And they got, toast ready to burn
Not learnin to live, but they yearnin to take what you earn
---------------------------
Verse 3:
So quick to place blame.. and deny the shame we bring upon ourselves
So many names held accountable for my own account
When a large amount was weight - that I made and shaped
When I climbed I found
It was hard to find others around to point my fingers at
Which made me realize the truth
The biggest supressor could be your own ego lookin for an excuse
to plant roots, in a field of self-sorrow
to sprout and follow the first thing you feel
Nourishes your hunger to be respected, it gets hectic
And when I'm watchin the news, and my daughter walks in
and choose to ask, "Why were all those people on the floor
sleepin, covered in red?"  I told her
that they were lookin for God, but found religion instead

Hook: Cee-Lo
"Well I, feel the world around me
I've found, that others, will bring you down; just to be down
You see, you've got to make up yo' mind, where you wanna be
And where you wanna go with yo' life
With your life, with your life.."

This whole song's about trying to be positive, and moving forward with your life, and how other people drag you down... At the beginning, he says that he doesn't sing the blues, because he doesn't; he's had a hard life and crap, but he don't dwell on it, he moves on...he's looking for 'clues'.  He's on top of the world with nearly every dream he's had, and he did it all himself.  He goes on to talk about how everywhere he looks, he sees people that won't make things happen, but sit back trying to pull other people down, caught up in negativity, and want a handout from him, but won't help themselves.

Then, the next verse he gets even realer, And says that his biggest problem was that he would never accept responsibility for his own actions, and he's been guilty in the past of pointing the finger at other people for what he's done... Then he said, once he got higher, more famous, had a family, there were less people for him to blame, and only then he realized that he was himself, he was the one responsible for his success, and for his problems.  He says that the biggest problem is that people want to pity themselves, and grab ahold of the first thing that shows them a little props... And at the end, he leaves us with a comment about how even on the news, The Heaven's Gate mass suicide where all the guys committed suicide covered in sheets on the floor, to meet haley's comet, where they would hook up with god.  That's a hard statement to end the song off with, but I can only imagine he has to explain messed up stuff to his little girl everyday.

Here's the last song , off De La's LAST album, what a dope way to end their 'art official intelligence" trilogy (even though the third album was scrapped, and won't be released.  Damn that record company. )... This song is dope, dope, dope, it's got little kids singing the chorus and crap.  De La bringing it original, AGAIN.

De La Soul - "Trying People"
Emcee - Plug One (The One-Der)

"Throughout my change to grow, Some of my people got left behind
They didn't listen for the gun, as I leaped from off the line
Thirteen years deep in this marathon I'm runnin
Paid dues and still got bills to pay
When I came back around the way
Old friends gave me dead eyes
and fake smiles, half wide
We were supposed to rid the world of danger
These days we nod heads and small talk like polite strangers
It's natural to fall off, just land close to the tree
I'll be there if they need me to be
and I know all my local shorties
cuz they all know who I am
and latey wanna flip grammar instead of grams
Like that's the only choice they got
They tell me how they gonna shake up the game
but came to me to see if I could give em guidance for change
Shit y'all, I need guidance myself
and I chisel right words to make gems
Got fans around the world, but my girl's no one of em
And my relationship's a big question
Cuz my career's a clear hindrance to her progression
Said she needs a man and our kids need a father
I'm not at all ready to hear her say don't bother
And break
And this I know I can't take
but uhh
C. Smith said to hold on
My brother Luck said to hold on
My nigga Dave said to hold on
My nigga Mase said to hold on
Yo, Maseo, we need to hold on
Eh, yo, y'all we need to hold on"

This song is about what the other song is about, how he's grown in his life, but he's still got problems, and how people try to bring him down. Man, the dopest part is when he talks about how he's got fans all across the world, but his woman isn't one, because his career messes up his family life, and she wants him to be a good father.  Also, that line where he says his friends in the hood are all telling him they want to rap, instead of sell crack, and he's saying 'like that's the only choice they got'... making a comment on how it would be just as good if they'd just get a legit job, instead of trying to all be rappers.  And they want guidance from him, but he's saying he dont' even know what to tell them.... another awesome verse, that's 100% Real, real talk here.

Scarface - "I Seen A Man Die"

I hear you breathin' but your heart no longer sounds strong
But you kinda scared of dying so you hold on
And you keep on blacking out cuz the post is near
Stop trying to fight the reaper just relax and let it go
Because there's no way you can fight it but you'll still try
And you can try it til you fight it but you'll still die
Now your spirit leaves your body and your mind clears
The rigormortis starts to set, now you outta here
You start your journey into outer space
You see yourself in the light but you're still feeling outta place
So you standing in the tunnel of eternal light,
And you see the ones you never learn to love in life
Make the choice let it go but u can back it up
If you ain't at peace with God you need to patch it up
But if you ready close your eyes and we can set it free
There lies a man not scared to die, may he rest in peace...

Poetic (R.I.P) on 'One Life'

Paralyzed on the bathroom floor by pain
Last month I endured
But now I can't ignore
Feels like rail road spikes being stuck in my liver
And my dyin eyes cryin', body startin to shiver
Crawl upstairs from the basement callin my sister
Dawn, help me, I ain't feelin to healthy
Stomach walls burnin
Head spinnin and turnin
Waitin for the EMS 3:10 in the mournin
Rush me to emergency screamin like a newborn
The pain's to strong maybe my souls tryin to move on
He hooked me to the i.v.
Put me through some x-rays
Gave me demorall to kill the pain that was the next phase
Early the next day in a hospital room
Moms and Pops in the room
3 or 4 docs in the room
My test results suggest "Your colon and your liver is so cancerous"
You got 3 months left
Me and death is playin chess
Ever since then
My strength is the most high,my fam and close friends
The Last Emp been sent free blessed me with a verse
Stayin healthy comes first, look at me, things can be worse

That whole verse to me, is sobering, makes me appreciate everything and everyone around me, for real.

I Agree with all 3 of those, dope stuff.  Real biographical crap.  Here's one from Scarface when he was with the getto boys, since yall posted Scarface.  Remember, this is early stuff too, so this is advanced for way back then, this stuff was the dopest on the radio.

Getto Boys - My Mind's playin' tricks on me
emcee: Scarface
"Day by day it's more impossible to cope
I feel like I'm the one that's doing dope
Can't keep a steady hand because I'm nervous
Every Sunday morning I'm in service
Playing for forgiveness
And trying to find an exit out of the business
I know the Lord is looking at me
But yet and still it's hard for me to feel happy
I often drift while I drive
Havin fatal thoughts of suicide
BANG and get it over with
And then I'm worry-free, but that's bullshit
I got a little boy to look after
And if I died then my child would be a bastard
I had a woman down with me
But to me it seemed like she was down to get me
She helped me out in this shit
But to me she was just another bitch
Now she's back with her mother
Now I'm realizing that I love her
Now I'm feeling lonely
My mind is playing tricks on me"

This is one of the first songs I can remember that was just REAL, and emotional people talking about their life and stuff.  Most of the crap before this was party jams.

Great verse, my fav. 'Face verse infact.

Here's 2 of the truest set of rap lyrics imo:

2Pac - Keep Ya Head Up

Some say the blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice
I say the darker the flesh then the deeper the roots
I give a holler to my sisters on welfare
Tupac cares, if don't nobody else care
And uhh, I know they like to beat ya down a lot
When you come around the block brothas clown a lot
But please don't cry, dry your eyes, never let up
Forgive but don't forget, girl keep your head up
And when he tells you you ain't nuttin don't believe him
And if he can't learn to love you you should leave him
Cause sista you don't need him
And I ain't tryin to gas ya up, I just call em how I see em
You know it makes me unhappy (what's that)
When brothas make babies, and leave a young mother to be a pappy
And since we all came from a woman
Got our name from a woman and our game from a woman
I wonder why we take from our women
Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?
I think it's time to kill for our women
Time to heal our women, be real to our women
And if we don't we'll have a race of babies
That will hate the ladies, that make the babies
And since a man can't make one
He has no right to tell a woman when and where to create one
So will the real men get up
I know you're fed up ladies, but keep your head up

2Pac - Me Against The World

With all this extra stressin
The question I wonder is after death, after my last breath
When will I finaly get to rest?  Through this supression
they punish the people that's askin questions
And those that possess, steal from the ones without possesions
The message I stress: to make it stop study your lessons
Don't settle for less - even the genius asks-es questions
Be grateful for blessings
Don't ever change, keep your essence
The power is in the people and politics we address
Always do your best, don't let the pressure make you panic
And when you get stranded
And things don't go the way you planned it
Dreamin of riches, in a position of makin a difference
Politicians and hypocrites, they don't wanna listen
If I'm insane, it's the fame made a brother change
It wasn't nuttin like the game
It's just me against the world

Sorry to be predictable but thats just the way it is  ;)

My favorite Scarface song. That song is so real and deep I listen to it all the time and never get tired of it.

Quote

Getto Boys - My Mind's playin' tricks on me
emcee: Scarface
"Day by day it's more impossible to cope
I feel like I'm the one that's doing dope
Can't keep a steady hand because I'm nervous
Every Sunday morning I'm in service
Playing for forgiveness
And trying to find an exit out of the business
I know the Lord is looking at me
But yet and still it's hard for me to feel happy
I often drift while I drive
Havin fatal thoughts of suicide
BANG and get it over with
And then I'm worry-free, but that's bullshit
I got a little boy to look after
And if I died then my child would be a bastard
I had a woman down with me
But to me it seemed like she was down to get me
She helped me out in this shit
But to me she was just another bitch
Now she's back with her mother
Now I'm realizing that I love her
Now I'm feeling lonely
My mind is playing tricks on me"

Same with that verse too

Napoleon from U Can Be Touched on Still I Rise

Life...
What the fuck is life for niggaz like us?
Been waking up to another muthafuckin' day
I'm the type of soldier,
A nigga that seen
Everything in my muthafuckin eyes
I seen my parents get killed
To my muthafuckin eyes
I seen my brother kill his-self in my eyes
I seen Pac.. Yak.. die in the struggle in my eyes
So I know anybody can be touched
You know what I mean?

Oh God forgive me
Somebody please say a prayer for me
Needed my parents
But they was never there for me
Believe in everything they feed me
I'm seeing demons
I wake up screaming
Who believe me or was I dreaming?
Five fingers on the .45 chrome
Dead aim at my brain, infared with no lights on
I ain't afraid to die, I want to see what's after this
I'm living blind writing rhymes
Til they capture this
And if we die let the world understand why
Soldier my eyes hate to see a young thug cry
They seeing us inside a casket
That's how they see us
Oh God forgive us ghetto bastards
We human beings
They leaving us inside this hell-hole
Just waiting to fail so they tell us
That's what jail for
Adolescense young teens turned violent
It's floating, in a world turned silent
Cause you could be touched
