The Flyers signed multiyear deals with defensemen Derian Hatcher, Mike Rathje and Chris Therien, all listed at 6-foot-5.
Looks like they're going the Canucks root...BIGGER is BETTER. ANd with the rule changes...D men are gonna need to get bigger.

Boston Bruins Agreed to terms with right wing Glen Murray on a four-year contract and right wing Shawn McEachern, who had been with the Atlanta Thrashers, on a two-year contract.
Chicago Blackhawks Signed defenseman Adrian Aucoin, who had been with the New York Islanders, to a four-year contract.
Detroit Red Wings Re-signed center Steve Yzerman to a one-year contract.
Los Angeles Kings Agreed to terms with goaltender Jason Labarbera, who had been with the New York Rangers, on a two-year contract; named Mike Kalinowski manager of communications, Ben Peirce manager of game entertainment and Stephanie Krauss communications and broadcasting assistant; promoted Lee Callans to hockey operations administrator.
Ottawa Senators Re-signed left wing Denis Hamel to a two-year contract.
Philadelphia Flyers Signed defensemen Derian Hatcher, who had been with the Detroit Red Wings, to a four-year contract, defenseman Mike Rathje, who had been with the San Jose Sharks, to a five-year contract, defenseman Chris Therien, who had been with the Dallas Stars, to a one-year contract and left wing Jon Sim, who had been with the Pittsburgh Penguins, to a one-year contract.
St. Louis Blues Signed center Trent Whitfield, who had been with the Washington Capitals, left wing Jeff Hoggan and center Ryan Ramsay.
Nashville Predators Acquired defenseman Danny Markov from the Philadelphia Flyers for a 2006 third-round pick.
Atlanta Thrashers Signed center Bobby Holik, who had been with the New York Rangers.
Columbus Blue Jackets Signed defenseman Adam Foote, who had been with the Colorado Avalanche, to a three-year contract.
Thrashers gonna make some noise 8)...hockey is back baby...and there are tons of BIG name free agents out there

bigger zones = more scorin chances
smaller goalie padz = more goals
salary cap = every team will be equal adn every game will be more entertainin

The NHL wanted more speed. So big d man are gonna be great. When the forwards are in the boards, those 6' 5-6 D-Men will crush em!
