Arveladze double gives AZ convincing start to season
AMSTERDAM, Aug 12 (Reuters) - New signing Shota Arveladze scored a double to inspire AZ Alkmaar to a 3-0 win over promoted Sparta Rotterdam in their Dutch first division season opener on Friday.
AZ, with Louis van Gaal succeeding Co Adriaanse as coach, made a dream start when Sparta defender Tom Zoontjes misjudged a long ball from Barry van Galen and gave Arveladze the opportunity to open the scoring after two minutes.
Early in the second half the Georgian doubled the lead with a superb lob from a pass by Danish international Kenneth Perez. Sixteen minutes before the final whistle Tarik Sektioui hit the third from close range.
P.S. Tim de Cler is AZ's latest international!

The good old lisbon lions, thought that would come up,
Correct no player in a rangers jersey has won that, but that was way way back in 1967 when mcneill lifted that
Notts Forrest have won it twice since then, & look where they are now

yes 51 to 39. and if we hadn't handed you the league last season and Dunfermline (Rangers Reserves) didn't lie down 3 years ago then it would be 49 to 41. which isn't much of a difference.
but the fact that we have won the most prestigious trophy any club can win and you never will puts us slightly ahead i believe :D

az are still shit ;D
