Any idea how many units Dre's 2001 sold in it's first week? Also, I know it's kinda the wrong forum for it but my main question was West Coast and this does relate to it via Aftermath, does anyone know how many the Slim Shady LP sold first week?

Damn it was leaked 1 month before the release date, didn't know that. Anyway remind me good times about going crazy to have this lp, I was waiting for it next to the record store instead going to school ;D... I want Detox :'( lol
-
i went to target before school started and got it
-
I had it downloaded a month or so before as well. Then I skipped school that day to go buy it. I own about 5 copies of it now, lol.
and If I'm not mistaken, it never did reach #1 on the billboard top 200. Korn stayed ahead of it.

yep Korn was first

korn they r fuckin shit!!!

well i donīt think Dre gives a shit about the first week coz 2001 ended up sellin 6 million units in the states alone and Korn sold 3 million.
-
Yea that's one of the first albums that REALLY felt the effects of "being leaked" on the internet. That didn't start happenin at a major scale until 1999, and it was perfect timing because CD recorders came out in 98 and got big in 99. So that's when the bootleg market hit BIG.
-
i wasn't all about the downloading back then
so you're cooler than me
lol
-
ya i remember ordering it from amazon 2 weeks before it released ;D (paid $50 for it including shipping, import duty etc). but i got it 2 weeks after it released :(
peace

For those that got the album early, did anyone ever hear of a song called "Malibu Dre"? My friend got it when the admin for Dre's site put the entire CD up for download instead of stream, but then his fuckin' computer crashed. I know someone has it somewhere out there.

Nah man I'd heard of a grip of songs that didn't make the album or whatever but NEVER heard of that one. I remember "the way I be pimpin" "the throne is mine" and a few more.

I bought it a month after its official release.

I have all of the one that I know of that missed the cut for the album, but I'm still on the look out for Malibu Dre. My friend said it sounded kinda like Still D.R.E. with the sticcato(sp?) sound except way better.
-
^^^can you hook the ones you have up ;D
-
The only one I have on my computer is The Way I Be Pimpin'. The others I have burned on a CD and my friend has it. I'll post em when I get it back though.
