what makes him better than bonds?
i'm a dodger fan but i gotta respect Barry Bonds' Gangsta. the man is the illest baseball player ever to pick up a bat.

its very tough, this is how i see it
pure hitting : adv williams
power : adv bonds (although you could make a case for ted. he missed 6 years in his prime to fight for his country so imagine how many hr he lost out in)
glove : adv bonds
speed : adv bonds
arm : even

Nolan Ryan is overrated. He lost almost 300 games and usually led tha league in walks. It's Ruth he was hitting 40-50+ homeruns when 15-20 was alot. And when he was with tha Red Sox he was a pitcher not a hitter and won 20 games twice.

I didn't know a guy who cheats can be a great player, he cheated ya know, as in didn't play the game by the rules
*cough* Barry Bonds *cough* ::) Bonds fans are so stupid and in denial
-
ya iunno how players who use steriods can be called great das y hes not on my list or he'd be no. 1
-

I used to feel like that, I thought he was the best ever even though I hated him so much, his game was fuckin nutz
but then all the shit that happened, you can't deny that he DIDNT use steroids, it's fuckin obvious along with how he reacts to the rumors
Obviously he's good as fuck without them, but it's the principle that he took that shit and that's fuckin petty low down garbage, you don't do that, it's cheating
also, him missing the year with his knee? ::) that's such bullshit, he's just trying to figure out how to come back and slowly gettin off the steroids probably
"leave me alone, you've taken me down, go bother someone else, I'm tired, I'm a pussy, I'm acting like a girl, I'm tired" he ACTUALLY thinks that the media out of the blue picked him and accused him of steroids
:laugh: ::)
the guy's a fuckin dickhead and for the fact that he did use sterioids no matter how good he was before, he should not be in the Hall of Fame
-
barry bonds said he practiced baseball by usin his dads dick to swing at his own nuts

Nobody mentioned Mickey Mantle? Top Ten all time, would've been #1 if he would've been healthy throughout his career
-
who can forget Ty Cobbs?
-
havent seen (or mit've missed) sumbody mentionin Cy Young and Nolan Ryan
-
who can forget Ty Cobbs?
He was almost as big a cheater as Bonds. He would Sharpen his spikes and slide feet first. He would also threaten pitchers, if they hit him he said he would beat them with a bat.
-
^^well duh...but he was an awesome hitter
-
if they hit him he said he would beat them with a bat.
man i would do the same thing if u hit me witha pitch ima beat ur ass with my bat and dat gets the pitchers nervous bout their game and would cause em to make mistakes which you could take advantage off

Yeah but you can't take away his numbers. His threats wer emeaningless, Cobb wasn't very big. He was however the greatest hitter of all time, and is in the top10 for 7 of the 9 categories judged in baseball (top 5 for 6 of them). This isn't my opinion either. It's a fucking fact.
http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/stats/historical/leaders.jsp?c_id=mlb&baseballScope=mlb&statType=1&sortByStat=All&timeFrame=3&timeSubFrame2=0
1st in batting avergae, 2nd in hits, 2nd in runs, 4th in stolen bases, 4th in doubles, 2nd in triples, and 6th in RBIs. If that doesn't say one of the greatest ever, I don't know what does. Too bad he was such a fuck head personally.
As for greatest ever I don't know anyone that could even dream of beating Ruth in a one on one game. No pitcher was anywhere near good a hitter and no hitter was anywhere near good a pitcher. He once posted a 1.75 ERA in over 40 games. He's the best homerun hitter of all time. He's got the 7th best batting average of all time. He could do it all and do it well, and to who ever said he was playing with nobodies need to shgut their mouths. Just because you don't know baseball well enough to know who the grerats of the 20s and 30s were doesn't mean they weren't there.
The obvious example is no blacks played gainst him, and I'll admit there were a couple that could challenge him stat for stat in the Negro League, but only a couple, and only Satchel Paige comes to mind on the hitting and pitching side if things. However the quality of athletes was very high; the pro football leagues weren't so good back then and basketball didn't exist so the countries best athletes played baseball and with only 16 teams, which is almost half as many as now. So when you think about it was probably harder back then to excel at baseball than it is now. Everyone that would be trying to get in the NFL or NBA would be trying to get in the MLB and only half the the current players would get in. Imagine if all the great athletes in America today grew up playing only baseball and half of the total playes were cut. You would have 15 or 16 super teams with 4 aces on each team and maybe 4 clean up hitters as well. To say Ruth was playing with losers is insane. He was playing against America's top white athletes. Could he have been just as great if the blacks were allowed to play? I don't see why not. Dimaggio did just as good after they let blacks in as he did before and Mantle did amazing his whole career, and while they are two of the greats they rarely get placed above Ruth on anyone's list.

What kind of a racist list is that? And what are P- dubs?
How anyone can argue Aaron being better than Ruth is beyond me. Yeah Aaron had 40 more homeruns, but he had 3000 more at bats. If Ruth didn't get walked all those times he'd have over 1000 homeruns.
