Whats the first īfamousī hiphop album, that I can find is Kurits Blow debut (1980)
-
To me it's Run DMC's self titled album from 1984. How big was that Kurtis Blow album, and is it worth checking out for me? If so, I'm gonna need a hookup 8)

Beat me to it. I forgot that one was so damn old ;D

Thanx of course how could I forget The sugar hill gang. ??? ::)

Yeah Grandmaster Flash and The Sugarhill gang!

Back then most artists put out a bunch of 12" singles, not too many LPs. 1984's Run-D.M.C. is probably the first real famous LP. Here are other albums before that that were "famous" to some degree.
Sugarhill Gang - Sugarhill Gang (1979)
Kurtis Blow - Kurtis Blow (1980)
Sugarhill Gang - 8th Wonder (1981)
Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five - The Message (1982)
Too $hort - Don't Stop Rappin' (1983)
Too $hort - Players (1983)
Whodini - Whodini (1983)

Grandmaster Flash for me (I think), Sugar Hill internationally without a doubt. In hindsight Kurtis Blow, Gil Scott Heron and James Brown are the ones i think have the most chance to claim (Ike Hayes and someone i can't remember also had some stuff around the same time that was released that some people claim to be one of the OG's). I don't think we'll ever find out who 'officially' released the first hip hop record though (whether SP, EP, LP).
