What are your thoughts on this album? It came out right around the time Quik signed with Arista which for reason, didnt bring Quik the success he had hoped for. Clive Davis / Sheppard Lane.. you would think this combo would have been Plat.. plat.. plat!
But for some reason this album fizzled after the first single.
Another thing I noticed is how El Debarge wasnt on any tracks. His brother was which struck me as strainge. Anyway.. Im diggin the production on Princess even though James sounds like a lil biyaaatch!
What are your thoughts? Just fishin for feedback. Nothin more.. nothing less!
If your wondering where this thread came from, I've been bumpin the hell out of Under The Influence and goin through all of Quiks productions to date. Thanks and pz.

Up N Da Club is one of my favorite songs ever, that shit always puts me in a good mood.
The rest of album, I usually kinda forget about, but when I do let it ride I'm glad I did. Quik got some bomb production on there, and there's a lot of real decent songs.
I think its an album every Quik supporter should own.

that album is fire IMO! nice production and good raps! slept on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
peace

The first 2nd II None albums is much better, but "Classic 220" is still some cool shit.
-
i bought that album the day it comes out and i love it...especially "Stragglaz", "Pawdy", "Y" and of course "Up´N Da Club"...the whole thing is bangin...simply a must have.

Really Funk-D? I dont know homie.. I think these two albums were worlds apart. The old Quik Vs. The new Quik isnt a far comparision IMO. To me.. Quik has had one major change in production style.. and it started with: Juss Like Compton
Every album he produced before this album came out had that Quik Is The Name feel to it.. PPC feel to it..
I would compare Classic 220 to Quiks 3rd, 4th, and 5th album. He really turned up the production on album number 3.
Example. Old Ruthless Dre.. compared to Deathrow Dre. IMO, the DR Dre started while he was still at Ruthless. You can hear alot of Deathrow in Niggaz 4 Life. IMO. Thanks for the reply.

I understand your point of view, but I still say that the first one is the better album...
-
This is a nice album, I both it for "Up In Da Club."
KK and Dee are smooth rappers.

Up in Da club iz one of The Best Dj Quik Production
very cool beat that make u wanna party

It's pretty tight. Kinda has the same feelin through the whole album.. some laid back, pimpin, tipsy kinda feelin. Like Loc said.. something you definatley should have if you're really into Quik.. Kinda like Suga Free's "Street Gospel".. not a Quik album but alot of good beats from him.
I orginally went looking for their first cd.. I heard a couple tracks on tha net somewhere and I was feelin it.. I'm kinda into old schoo' shit.. but then again.. that shit is kinda played out. But anywayz.. their first cd wasn't there so I just ended up coppin' 220. It has alot of coo' songs though.. dont regret buying it at all.
I'm mostly feelin' "Up N Da Club", "Dont U Hide", "Whatever You Want", "Make'em Undastand" (Check this shit out.. featuring tha late Mausberg.. that hook sounds fuckin smooth.. even my pops be vibing to that shit and he dont speak english).. "Back Up Off Tha Wall".. I like to listen to that muthafucker on "If You Aint Fuckin'", "Got A Nu Woman" Dope song.. kinda a reunion type thang.. Dj Quik, AMG, 2nd II None, Hi C.. I'm pretty sure they're all ont that song...
Pretty tight cd though.. check it out.

i really like this album, i think i bumped stragglaz about 3000 times :)
-
;D
This is definitely a mad slept on album. The production by Quik is some of his best on here. Make Em Understand with Mausberg is definitely bangin!!!!!
Their first one is also bangin, pick it up too!!!! ;D
-
STRAIGHT BANGIN!!!! every cut is the shit. these niggaz know how to parlay and have a good time w/o sticking their chest out 24/7 even though they're compton bloods
-
yeah this album gets alot of flac, personally i think it's off the hook... classic 220 is a perfect name for the album...
*back in rotation baby*
-
The production was definitely top notch. They sounded alright on it, not bad and not great.

yeah thats what alot of people say, the cd was carried by production... kk and dee have some funny ass rhymes, that are easy for a playa to vibe to 8)
-
rappin was kinda average but production was def top notch i still bump that album from time to time
-
one of my all-time favorite albums....
all the Quik beats were 10/10 and the other production was dope too...
5/5 album I think.... not a song I don't like...
the best are: Whateva U Want, Pawdy, Up N Da Club, Got A Nu Woman....
-

"I wouldn't fuck around with funky cock hoes" hahaha shit makes me laugh everytime I hear Dee sing that ;D
-
Some of the best Quik production. I was feelin' 2nd II None's 1st self-titled LP, but this one topped it.
-
The first 2nd II None albums is much better, but "Classic 220" is still some cool shit.
I think Classic 220 is faaaaar better. really a classic!!

chill out Hahn, it's on it's way
-
Smooth ass fuckin album
-
i've been looking for this album forever, the tracks i've heard off of it are :o
-
a classic in my book!! I consider both 2nd II None albums classics..
-
This album would have been so much better as an instrumental album or for any rapper with any skills on the mic. It's too bad that an album this good musically was wasted on such horrible MC's as Second II None.
-
el and james r singin on princess... if u're a debarge fan u can tell the differences...both of em r singin on that..
the 1st 220 album was jus rawness..
classic 220..is imo musically betta than rhythmalism... imho... 4 some reason..i skip the same 2 songs on rhythmalism..(useta know her and no doubt) and with classic 220 i've never skipped 1 song..its the best produce album from quik's protege's or homies... some of the beats could replace some of the shit that was on rhythmalism and balance and option...
"i didnt graduate...i jus went"-dee... :P
-
quality solid album, great production , not that great lyrically but the beats make up 4 it.
i love got a nu woman and y?
dont u hide it is classic 2
