Title: BIG PUN
Post by: I TO DA GEEZY on September 12, 2005, 12:38:43 AM
I consider his debut "Capital Punishment" to be a near classic masterpiece, yet for some reason I don't see how his sophomore album comes anywhere near the quallity of his debut.
Where "Capital Punishment" scored as a showcase of Pun's best talents(lyrical sharpness and focus that provided a cinematic vividness) and a variety of hard hitting beats, Yeeeah Baby comes short and even seem's to be slightly odd and unfinished. Pun's lyrics seem to lack the gravity they had back on his debut, so I'm thinking is it possible his sophomore album may have been overrated by heads because of Pun's untimely demise shortly after the album was released?....what are your thoughts?

The majority consider Capital Punishment to be a lyrical masterpiece, classic to many hip hop fans including.

Yeah Baby is widely known as a lackluster album. I don't think many people rated it highly.

Big Pun = one of the best to do it and not just cause he died but his skills were that CRAZY! Best multi's ever (Pun > G Rap and Em when it comes to multis) YEZZIR!

Yeaaah baby is allright, but nowhere near the greatness of Capital Punishment. That album was just amazing. Close to, if not classic.

^^ Sounds like someone got inspired by Big Daddy Kane's "Set It Off"
"Go with the flow, my rhymes grow like an afro
I entertain again and Kane'll never have no
Problem, I can sneeze, sniffle and cough
E-e-e-even if I stutter Imma still come off"
