::) some of ya dickride these westcoast rappers WAY too much...i mean i understand if the albums are actually great...dj quik, shit aint nothin special...same with warren G's...i was expecting some more g-funk type of beats...instead half of the songs sound like some shit that is on TRL, 106 & PARK...generic ass commerical bullshit...i know times have changed from 94' and i aint expecting the same types of shit...but c'mon...i do like warren g's album better then quik's though...
-
i'll definately being buying the new warren g album. i just hope it gets released in canada because dj quil still hasn't come out up here yet
-
Album aint half as good as everyone making it out to be, not sure if I'm gonna buy it or not yet.
It's solid, but no classic.
Quik definately outdone him.
-

shit, finally someone told it like it is.
-
Some dope tracks but overall, nothing impressive and a weak replay value
-
The theme track is amazing. The others are ok. Good album overall, let's say a 3.5/5. But i'mma buy it for sure, i cant stop supporting the G-Child. He was my hero back in 1994.
-
dont like it at all. very average, dont plan on adding it to my cd collection.
-
gonna buy it as soon as I can......cant wait for it actuelly

Here's the real about burning vs. buying...
I'm a Warren G fan - 'Regulate' and 'I Want It All' are great, great albums IMO.
I'm interested in his new album but the posts in this thread put me off it and, with so many people saying it's average, I probably won't spend my money on it.
I might be missing out... it might be a dope album, but Warren G and his team are so scared of bootlegging that I can't preview it to find out. Guaranteed - if I downloaded it and liked it, I would buy it, just like I did with Quik's and probably half the albums I buy. OK, so if I downloaded it and thought it was wack, I wouldn't buy it... but there's no loss there because now I won't anyway :-\
It's a real shame... if artists are confident of the quality of their product that should have no problem with someone downloading it. If an album sounds dope as an Mp3 through computer speakers, who isn't going to want the properly mastered and packaged CD to bump in their ride and on their system? Warren G obviously doesn't see it like that...

100 % agree with that, the decrease of the music quality (outside labels pbs) is the reason why the sales dropped, not the bootleing. If the album is dope, I'll buy it, if not I'll burn it. Nowadays, it's rare I buy an album before downloading it

yup. Not saying that about the Warren G album, I haven't dow.... ergh, bought it yet.

I remember when he was your hero in 2002. LOL

You're kidding yourself. I see hundreds and hundreds of bootlegged cd copies sold at the flea market every weekend, none of those people care about a properly mastered CD. There are people like you that will buy it after they try it, but the vast, vast, VAST majority of people don't give a fuck, they just want it cheap, or free is even better.
You think the reason Michael Jackson is the only one to sell 53 million copies of 1 album is because he's 4 times better than anybody else? Hell no. The reason nobody else is selling like that is because artists sales are crippled and cut in half by bootlegging, especially in hiphop.
Same thing with Country Music. You think Country Music cd's are really that much better than the rock and hiphop stuff that comes out? Nope, but they're consistantly at the top of the charts when they're released, because all the hicks and rednecks don't have computers or don't know how to download copies of the albums... so they go out and buy them. Meanwhile, twice as many rap fans just download theirs off the internet, and the DJ Quik album comes in at #243 while the Brooks N' Dunn album comes in at #5.
-
OH, and to prove my point, look at how many people on here just said "Downloaded it, didn't like it, won't buy it.".
Before, those all would have been potential customers at the store. I'm not saying that the music isn't worse now than it was, because it is, everything you're saying is true. Trying to justify theft, though, is childish and your logic is flawed. The sad thing is, the artists get fucked while the record companies are still making theirs, and the record companies are the ones you have legitimate beefs with, not Warren G because his latest album isn't as good as his first one. You think Fans were pissed when "Morrison Hotel" wasn't as good as "Strange Days"? No, they just went 'eh'. Yall are placing all the blame on Warren, and using that as justification to steal from him. "I should be able to hear the album before I buy it"... no, you should be able to hear the SINGLE he released to radio before you buy it. That's how the shit works.
-
fuck it im gonna buy the cd, I like to suport the artists that i like, yeah i know sometime i download some shit but on my 250 cd i got i got only 9 burned
-
Regulate was classic, Take A Look was awesome, I want it all was ok, return was decent, and this new one i don't like really much at all, this could be the first warren album i won't pick up, peace.
-
I probably won't buy this album. I considered Warren G my second favorite artist behind DJ Quik before I heard this album. "Regulate," "Take A Look Over Your Shoulder," "I Want It All," and "Return Of The Regulator" are all extremely solid, if not classic albums. I can always put one of those albums if I'm looking to listen to something all the way through. That sure as hell didn't happen to me with this one. There are a few standout tracks that I will continue to listen to, but those all probably came from that EP he was gonna drop 2 years ago. I would have preferred the EP to be released than a full LP littered with weak tracks. I could barely stomach listening to "All I Ask Of U" all the way through. Other tracks could have been titer if there was more of Warren G, instead of these other mediocre and generic rappers that hes trying to push (with the exception of Bishop Lamont.) As far as I'm concerned, the only thing that this album actually did for me was 1) prove that Bishop Lamont is a star, and 2) Make it clear that Warren won't make another good album again. He said he made this album for the fans?? What fan of Warren G wants to listen to rave sounding music like "All I Ask Of U"? The only songs that sound like Warren G songs are " I Need A Light" and "In The Midnight Hour." If he wanted to expand his musical horizons, then fine. But he shouldn't give us a guilt trip saying he made this album for the fans, because any "fan" would want the G Funk sound.
