-
Bulls fans msut feel like shit
-
Great, another person with a bright future traded to the career killer/Knicks :(
-
Mitch Kupchack a sleep @ the wheel again :grumpy:
-
Yeah i dont know about Curry, he only average 5.6 rebounds last year, and hes 6'11" 285, thats almost as bad as being Yao Ming and averaging 8.4 rebounds
-
60 millions of $ and a 6 years-deal to a guy who it's not sure he can continue playing basketball? Knicks' GM is a retarded.
-
Mitch Kupchack a sleep @ the wheel again :grumpy:
He apparently offered him a 3 years 20 millions contract. Thank you Mitch for not wasting 60 millions over this dude. Curry > Mihm, but c'mon, he's not a 10 millions per year player.
-
that's too much money for his fat ass. plus chicago is on its way to finally be a pretty good team again, wouldnt trade for knicks in his place.
-
knicks are idiots, they overpay EVERYONE
-
You guys are idiots...

i'm listening to Dave Smith on 1540 am' and he just mention that,he got it from ESPN website...but anyways....this fucking plan the Lakers have trying to clear up cap space for 2007 doesn't blow up in there face..but i guess is better then eddie currys haert blowing up @ staples center :eh:

You guys are morons, if he went to College he would just be coming into the NBA now, but he has been finding his way. Big men ALWAYS take longer to develop, and check his numbers he has been gradually rising. Also dont forget the pathetic team the Bulls had for 3 of his first seasons, it was nothing but losing, humiliating and would have been very hard mentally...
To say $60mil over 6 years is overpaying is crazy, look at Dalembert, Big Z type contracts. Big Z is old, and Dalembert can jump and thats it. He's good for offside defence, rebounding and throwing it down every now and then. Have you seen him try a post move? Oh god...
Eddy Curry is the future, his heart is fine. Even Marbury said in college they told him to stop playing because of his heart but he continued and he's fine. Most pro athletes have bad hearts, especially a big man who went from being 320 pounds to 285pounds. His body went through a big change...
People will find ANY reason to diss the Knicks and Isiah... its sad really...

Man nobody here is saying that Curry can't develope into a good 15/5 player. But 60 millions of $ are REALLY too much, imo.
-
60 millions of $ is too much... try $60 million dollar is too much...
Again you must be a moron, how can he develop into a 15/5 guy when he had 16/5.4 last season? Admit it, he is gonna be good... if LA got him u'd be singing his praises...
Anyone with any bball knowledge knows an inside offensive weapon like Curry is definately worth the cash... he will be one of the most dominant inside men in a couple of years alongside Amare and Yao, no one will come close...
-
Yao Ming will get about $15 million per year for the next 5 years.
Amare Stoudamire will get about $14 million per year for the next 5 years.
Eddie Curry will get about $10 million per year for the next 6 years.
IMO it's too much. He cant defend, he cant rebounds, he can only score, but he could stop playing bball in a year or two, who knows?
They overpaid him. And it doesnt mean he aint a good player. I'm talking about money here.
-
Whether they overpaid him or not, they put together a nice roster...

That's not his fault he's overpaid 8)
Imo...Yao Ming is overpaid...about 80% of the NBA players ARE overpaid....90% of baseball players ARE overpaid....point is...who gives a fuck? it's normal, you're just trying to knock him down..he's a great player...this year he'll prove it agian.
-
I would love it if the Lakers had acquired Curry instead of Blount....
-

No! Man his agent is the fucking man! His client signed a $60 m after he refused the DNA test and having health problems, with just 2 teams interested in him. A real masterpiece. It aint his fault, hell no. I'm just saying i'm glad Mitch didnt waste a 6 yrs contract/$60 m for him. I'd rather go for the 2007 plan: Curry aint a superstar type of player to say: "fuck 2007, let's sign him to be a contender NOW!". Mitch offered him $21 m for 3 years. $7 m per year. A great contract, imo. He refused it cause he had a better one. $7 m was already overpaying him. So i'm happy about it. Curry > Mihm > Blount, no doubt. But 2007 > Curry.
Imo...Yao Ming is overpaid...
Hell yeah if he is. Ming is soft.

Good player. A perfect fit for the Knicks, not for the Lakers (under a financial point of view).
-

lol c'mon now. Blount will probably be cutted after the Training Camp!
-
the reason people are tripping of this is b/c Eddie Curry has a haert problem, the knicks didn't make him take a DNA test,he got a big 6 years 60 mill $ contract "AND IT'S GUARANTEED"!!
Isiah didn't even insured that shit,so if curry ends up having a haert problem again or dies ,,the knicks are fucked they are going to have to pay that whole contract to him or his family..
Isiah is really gambling here..
-
Wrong. Get your facts straight. There is a claus in the contract about his health, and the contract is only guarenteed through 4 years.
Antonio, you cant really talk shit about a guy like Curry when you aquired Kwame. Both came from the same litter. Just Curry has shown a bit more so far...
dont get your hopes too set on "2007", quite a few teams will have cash for then...

Brown has a lot more potential than Curry, imo. Even tho i'm not a big fan of Brown. I dont even like him at all. But Brown is getting about $5 m per year for 2 years, so he's getting a good contract for the salary cap and the 2007 plan. We will see.

But none is called LAKERS.
-
But if Kwame has more upside, wouldnt you want him longer than 2 years? You cant have your cake and eat it...
-
I think the Lakers have a team option for a 3rd year?
-
Well thing is that most 2007-superstars are rather happy with their teams and the 2 that laker fans dreamt most about, Ming and Amare, signed extentions.

I've never dreamed about Ming. Like i said, he's too soft, and i dont want him in L.A.
Amare is totally different thing: he's the real deal. Too bad he signed the extension.
Other than that man what can i say? Lakers are preparing some space like they did when they acquired Shaq.
They only difference is that there's no Shaq available in 2007.
Bosh is a more realistic player. But not a superstar like Amare.
In 2008 there are a lot of good players available tho (LeBron, Wade, Anthony, etc..)
But damn, i'm not here saying the Lakers will be contenders.
They'll probably be an average team for a while, 2-3 years at least.
-
Whether they overpaid him or not, they put together a nice roster...
Really man, I think Nate Robinson is gonna surprise people
-
I would love it if the Lakers had acquired Curry instead of Blount....
lol c'mon now. Blount will probably be cutted after the Training Camp!
Ummm, no he wont. He signed a $1.1 mil contract for a year...Blount will provide 10-15 mins of a big experience body on the court when Kwame and Chris need a rest.

If i'm correct he signed an un-guaranteed contract worth $1.1 mil for a year, but Lakers can easly cut him and pay him only the days he has worked with them. He'll get like 20,000 $ per week. Then it's possible he'll make the final roster, but that's another thing.

Corie Blount, a 6-foot-10 journeyman, will sign with the Lakers
LA Times
Corie Blount, a 6-foot-10 journeyman, will sign with the Lakers before the start of training camp Tuesday in Honolulu, his agent said.
"He'll be in camp with the Lakers," said Mark Bartelstein, whose client will sign for the veteran's minimum of $1.1 million.
Blount, who played at Monrovia High, has averaged 3.6 points and 4.2 rebounds with seven teams over 11 NBA seasons. The 35-year-old forward-center from Cincinnati spent nearly four seasons with the Lakers before being waived toward the end of the 1998-99 season. He did not play last season. Bartelstein said it was uncertain whether Blount's contract would be guaranteed.

I've heard it wasnt. But i dunno how it is, the rule. If i remember well if they dont cut him till one day, it became guaranteed?

Regardless, the Lakers could use a real big man with experience and knowledge coming off the bench...Slava and Cook wont provide this. Therefore, the services of former Laker Corie Blount will be needed...He's ready. That picture of his says it all.
