Title: Mike Elizondo (Dre's bassist, co-writer) produced Fiona Apple's new CD
Post by: Trauma-san on October 04, 2005, 02:51:43 PM
In case anybody's interested, I thought I'd make another topic about this, because I'm not sure if everybody heard about it.  Fiona Apple released today her first cd in 6 years, and it's produced by Mike Elizondo.  Mike has been a big part of every Dre song (pretty much) since Chronic 2001.  He co-wrote Family Affair and stuff like that.

Anyways, Fiona recorded an album with Jon Brion who just did Kanye West's new album.  She didn't like the direction, so she had Mike Elizondo re-record the entire album in his Garage studio behind his house.  LOL.  Can you imagine that?  "Yeah, I'm producing Fiona Apple's next cd in my garage, she comes over and we drink and shit".

Anyways, it's a good album but moody and half-depressing like all of hers.  There's a great song called "Tymps (The Sick in the head song)" that he produced on there with a dre-ish loop to it.  Might wanna check it out if you keep up on stuff like that.

"Oh Sailor" but I'm not sure that it's very representative of the music you'd likely appreciate.  Might be stereotyping you, though, lol.

Overall i like his production on the album.  His production matches the tone of the album.

Tymps(SIck in the head song)  sounds like the beat belongs on an eminem album
