Title: The New York Knicks are gunna be a strong team...They WILL make playoffs.
Post by: Now_Im_Not_Banned on October 05, 2005, 03:42:26 PM
The New York Knicks have always been one of my favorite teams and I am a believer that the franchise will become a strong one once again and sooner or later become contenders...Lets face it, the Knicks have always had good players, but couldn't quite adjust the roster accordingly. Since the departure of Ewing, they've been lacking efficient big men, but have been flooded with a good amount of talented guards...Last year, I witnessed the hunger building in the franchise. Then I saw them act upon that hunger by finding a head coach in Larry Brown and acquiring Quentin Richardson + Jerome James (finally, an effective big man)...Now they got Eddy Curry and Antonio Davis and are ready to do some damage...Who here doubts that Larry Brown will have a great first season with the Knicks and easily make the playoffs? I mean, just look at the roster:

Stephon Marbury…Nate Robinson/Steven Barber
Jamal Crawford…Allan Houston/Penny Hardaway
Quentin Richardson…Trevor Ariza/Maurice Taylor
Eddy Curry…Antonio Davis/Malik Rose/David Lee/Otis George
Jerome James…Channing Frye/Jackie Butler

Coach: Larry Brown

To me, that looks like a job well done by whoever put together that roster...The starting 5 looks like an All-Star team and the bench is so deep that they have players like Penny Hardaway and Malik Rose playing 3rd string...There is no doubt in my mind that this team will make the playoffs and maybe even secure as high as a 3rd or 4th seed...Can't wait till the season starts... 8)

The knicks will find a way of screwing up. They alwayz (or at least for the past 5 years) do.

On paper, the Knicks DO have a pretty solid roster.  Hopefully they can put it together as a team this year and win some games.

I heard that LB might put Nate Robinson @ PG b/c he plays more like a PG should and Marbury is going to be his scoring guard

No kidding...He IS a point guard...That's why I have him penciled in as the back-up point guard for Stephon Marbury. Crawford is the 2 guard...PeACe

That'll be hard with a starting backcourt of Jamal Crawford and Stephon Marbury...But he will be great.

Chances are Crawford will play a lot of PG, and when he does they will shift Marbury to the 2.

Nate Robinson will be an Earl Boykins type PG, and I'm not making this comparison just because of the size. But he will handle the ball, but he will come in and score a shitload. He will be a big impact player...

It seems Curry will start at the C, and James will back him up. At the moment according to everything I've read, Mo Taylor is favoured to start at PF, and he has been doing well at Training Camp...

Bruno Sundov is playing in Europe this year...

45-48 win season this year, 50+ next year when Eddy Curry goes 25/8

Ariza will become very well know after this season...

Pretty solid team, great coach. The NBA needs the Knicks and the Lakers to be contenders.

Yup...Both players are easily capable of playing both guard positions.

Nate Robinson will be a lot better than Earl Boykins in the near future...In my opinion at least.

Doesn't sound too good...Maurice Taylor starting PF over Antonio Davis? And why not have Eddy Curry play PF so that James can start? The Knicks would have a BIG and dominant frontcourt if they did that...

Bruno Sundov is playing in Europe this year...

Interesting. I didn't know that.

Seems logical. I wouldn't be surprised if they won even more...And Ariza will definitely be something...PeACe

I've heard Antonio Davis will be released soon, and that he'll come back to Chicago till retirement.

Yeah first round this season, second and beyond next season when the team truly gels and some of the youth gets older/wiser (Ariza, Curry, Frye, Robinson, Butler, JC, Lee)...

Yeah I agree Nate will be better than Earl, I was trying to make a comparison though, he will come in and score score score...

I'm also pretty sure he will get an invite to the dunk comp, in the magical words of Jamal Crawford "Spud Webb aint got shit on Nate"

Davis wants to be released, however Isiah isnt willing to buy him out "this isn't a charity"...

As for the Curry at C and James at PF, I also want that, but the Knicks believe for both to be playing at their best they need to be in the low block, and obviously that could create issues. I'm sure there will be times when they run with that line up though... or Curry/Frye (our front court of the future)...

I actually see Knicks advancing past the first round this year...They were bounced in the first round 2 years ago, and this is a much better team than that one. Curry at C and James at PF doesn't make sense, it should be the other way around. James is a pure center and doesn't play the power forward position nearly as effective. Eddy Curry, however, he can be another Tim Duncan. Start him at power forward, he'll dominate most of the power forwards in the east and even in the league...I mean, he's played a good amount of power forward in his career, there's no reason they can't insert both him and James in the starting 5 for the most effective line-up possible...Knick and Celtics will be the surprises of the east.

I just hope Larry Brown will not treath him like Darko Milicic.

You idiot. Thats a COMLETELY different situation. It was a contending team who got basically a free pick in the draft. Darko was drafted, but it was always known he wouldnt contribute, because the team was already contending for a title.

Why else didnt he get minutes? Hmmm, look at who was playing a head of him. Better players.

Curry will see plenty of minutes, as long as he puts in effort.

Also NIB I meant James at C and Curry PF, my bad...

LMAO.

I was talking about Larry Brown not using rookies. I was talking about Nate, not Curry and James.

Very true. I hope he doesn't stunt the development of Nate Robinson and Channing Frye by not giving them the right playing time, causing them to be traded or sign with another team (possibly Lakers?) within the 5 years Larry Brown has in NY...

LOL ^ Possibly lakers, already scouting our guys ay?

Nate WILL see minutes, with Marbury occassionaly going to the 2, and JC not being a true 1, Nate has minutes to be played, he is a hard worker, and will be a fan favourite straight away. He is the MOST likely out of the rooks to get time...
