do you guys think he would have achieved a legendary status that eastcoast artists like Big and Nas have, if he wasnt murdered so early in his carrer??
-
Of course, thats why I always thought of him as 1 of the biggest losses in hip hop.I have numerous unreleased songs of his & they prove that point.Plus before L died he was on the radio saying how his 2nd CD was gonna be classic (not talking about Big Picture).I know lots of mc's say that but I really believe L was capable of it.His lyrics alone make some people think of him as a legend.
-
he's dope, he's one of the first rappers I started listening to back when I was like 13
but would he have gotten commercial success had he not been killed?
-
no, i just thinks he´s another artists that gets overhyped just for the simple fact that he is dead. i liked L but i just don´t think that he was that great.
-
big l is better than most artists out now or that came out hes def in my top 5, i just think its ridiculous how niggas gonna doubt him. hes better than BIG
-
never heard of a flow like L before...his lyrics make u go :o
-
I'd say he had stronger technique than tupac and more substance than biggie, and everyone is on their nuts for GOAT, so he should be getting more props
-
lyrically Big L was sick theres no doubt bout that
he def would have made it big in the hip hop game and it just depends on how u interpret legendary status cuz personally i dont see Big L doin a lot of commercial songs to appeal to the mainstream but he wuld have def been a legend in the rap game and for some is considered one.
-
he had some serious serious talent... i said no because you never know... even though ebonics was :o

Ask Beavis i get nuthin butt-head.... :o :o :o
-
Prop'ed everyone in here that voted :)
-
not sure....but big L is fucking sick
-
Don't think he would. He just doesn't have the commercial appeal people like Nas, Pac, Jigga and Big got. Big L has always been too underground for that. No matter how great he was as an emcee, he would never really be considered the goat the way pac, big, jigga and nas are.
-
no question.........one of the best mc's ever IMO
co-sign...and rumour has it he was in negotiations with Rocafella around the time he was killed...if that had happened, who knows where he'd be by now...that Stretch & Bobbito Freestyle is still one of my favourite verses of all time...and Devils Son is one of the illest tracks of all time no doubt...
-
i dont think so, i think he would of been on the same level as prodigy was b4 he started to fall off in 2000. No doubt tho L is the saddest story in hip hop an the greatest to never blow
-
Don't really know, but maybe. The potential was defintaly there.
-
Absolutely. His lyrics were :o
-
I would only say No for the reason that alot of guys with just one album out are perceived to be heading to legendary status. The first album couple of albums are when they artist is most hungry and pushes hard to accel.. I am sure you can name a handful of rappers who you thought were going to change the game, but after their first or second album they were nothing special at all..
That being put aside, it is clear Big L had alot of potential, no one will ever know.. Sad.

nahh, wouldnt say alotta people are.. big was the dopest on the east coast at the height of his career but remember he only dropped two albums and wasnt really around that long, but yet gained super stardom, would have only got better.

personally i think BIG was one of the most over-rated rappers ever to come out.
because he was in beef with Pac - he got compared to Pac. he ain't a top 5 MC for me. :grumpy:
-
no doubt his skills are the craziest any one can come up with and his freestyles are unbelievable
IMO No doubt
but people still today havent heard of him so its hard to tell
