What's the deal with the Ghetto Bird "sample" i guess u could call it in the movie Menace II Society...It's at the part just after Caine's dad kills that guy, and at the bottom of the screen it says "Watts 1993" and the beat of Ice Cube's "ghetto bird" kicks in, but in the movie it sounds a lil' different than Cube's version. Well, my question is, was Cube's version of the song released before or after the version in Menace II Society? Was the version in Menace II society based off of (sampled from) Cube's version? And finally is the version in the movie a real song (with actually rapping in it) or is it just a different version of cube's? Thanks to anyone that can clear this up for me!

I have always wanted that beat too..its much better than ice cube beats

QDIII did the music for Menace II Society so I think Cube heard the beat and liked it so he used it for "Ghetto Bird" [Produced by QDIII]. The movie came out before Lethal Injection.

LMAO yall are wrong. The original version of that sample came from "Funky Worm" by The Ohio Players which came out in the 70s

they wanted to use the instrumental for that song, but i guess there wasn't one
so they looped the drumbeat from the beginning or end, and played the syth sound themselves....
pretty ghetto eh ;D

The sample from "Funky Worm" is the sample for N.W.A's "Dope Man" and not for Ice Cube's "Ghetto Bird"...

Ice Cube's "Ghetto Bird" sampled:
George Clinton's "Atomic Dog"
Parliment's "Aqua Boogie"
Bobby Hutcherson's "Ummh"
