black music = jazz and shit
urban youth = colorblind

I call it Rap music or R&B, and if you're young, and live in an urban setting, I guess you'd be an urban youth.

urban doesnt just mean black... it covers all cultures..

kinda of like  how a MOBO award can go to a white person

(MOBO = music of black origin)..

yea i've always thought urban meant city and industrialised areas as apposed to rural which is country, not a black or white thing...

maybe theres a diff between the US and here.. but we're used to having a 'class' divide as much as a racial one.. i think partially because we have less racial minorities as a percentage of population (dont quote me but i;'m sure this is true) this is also becoming more prominent in america.. for example... Kam who once talked about whites and devils before actually says "blacks + poor whites" on his latest shit...

the sooner people realise that _any_ person with power or money (which can give power if used to..) black or white will abuse it to maintain or even strengthen their position and get more money, power or both.

Exactly. It just that traditionaly it's been associated that way because blacks use to generally live in urban areas.

When exactly did urban and black start meaning the same thing? In the 80s the baby boomers grew up a bit and went from hippies to yuppies which stands for "Young Urban Professionals", and this set of "urban" people were certainly mostly white.

yeah, kind of confusing when you think about suburban areas being mostly white, too.
