Title: the sound of detox
Post by: Matty on November 11, 2005, 11:28:11 AM
i think the best indicators of the detox sound could well be the outta control remix and talk about me from the get rich or die tryin ost. i think this is the kind of sound that dre is developing for it but with a lot more instruments, so these are like simplified detox beats. i reckon the finished sound will use a funky orchestra where many more sounds fit together seamlessly. just my thoughts, any other opinions?

I was the one who said that we shouldn't get to excited about Detox, eventhough I gotta say it will have the best beats, I'm sure Dre is saving the best for his album..check that Game-Start from scratch, that outta control like you said...it's gonna be fuccin heat yeah...

I'm pretty sure I don't care anymore

I don't think Detox will sound anything like them, I think it will be a completely new sound. Anyway Dre's latest productions (excluding Outta Control Remix, which was quite good) have been disappointing.

If you ask me all the Dre beats we will get (until Detox drops) are Detox leftovers...

i'd say that could be true but too i do reckon that outta control remix/talk about me could well be newer beats thrown together quickly using basic elements of the new sound.

I just want the beats to bang, simple and plain. As long as Dre saves the best for Detox, I ain't worried.

maybe we should just wait and judge the album when it drops

I don't think we have heard any Detox beats yet...Dre will save his most melodic and best overall beats for Detox.  If he gave out Detox-like beats before Detox drops it wouldn't have the same impact because everybody will have already gotten a preview to what it's going to sound like.

i think the "newest" style dre beats we have heard are higher, outta control, and outta control remix. If you notice Higher or Outta Control don't really have those typical Dre drums - they have a heavy shaker and clap/snare rhythms. The song Encore also has this "new" style - it has more emphasis on the subtleties of the drums, not the more hard hitting and direct that dre has had in the past. There is also a more of an emphasis on texture-heavy sounds in Dre's latest beats - for example that distortion guitar he has used on songs like Mosh and Encore and the high pitched strings that come in on Higher.

I'm guessing Dre will come from leftfield for Detox...but if I had to bet on the direction I would say that it will be highly layered drum sounds and patterns like that we have been hearing lately. I'm not sure about the melodies, but I know they are going to be very interesting and fresh.

ditto...we should all stop wondering and just wait for it.
