I dont understand..but as of right now Ashanti is on pace to sell over 600,000 copies this week..yes 600,000. I dont even know what to say but this is a bad sign for music. Ashanti is just so average..I dont get it.
And Jigga's sales continue to drop on Best of Both Worlds...poor Jigga--at least Song Cry is picking up steam. But yah..Its a travesty of justice that Jigga is getting the short end of the stick on this.

Murder Inc. definately promoted it well, as with the Ja Rule album. Using the same sample that Biggie used for "One More Chance" remix didn't hurt either. I picked this album up, and I liked it.

If thats the case there are a plenty more real R and B singers that actually know how to song like Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, so on.

Jay is a lyricist...Nelly is a teeny bopper pop star. And Im dead serious--only 66% of the album sales have been counted and Ashanti is already at like 400,000--its Britney like numbers and a little mind boggling to be honest.

I really like Ashanti. Of course, like other people have mentioned, she is not a great singer. Not bad at all, but she's just average, regular, decent-sounding. I don't think she can reach a truly spectacular voice range. But she is very likeable; she's PRETTY, cute, nice image, and backed by Murder Inc's great promotion and Irv Gotti's infectious beats she will sell. For that, I think she's cool & dope, but don't go saying she's the next Whitney, Mariah, or Mary.
Ashanti's great for what she's worth. It's like listening to Nelly for having a good time or partying; you dont go to Nelly looking to listen to lyrics or start thinking deeply.

wow now you know how i felt in that production thread, no one was getting it.
i havnt heard that much of ashanti , but if the few songs i've heard from her is the extent of her vocal range...then yikes, baby better hope she stays physically appealing, who knows maybe she can get up like whitney or alicia, but if what brownpride is saying is true....this chick is just an average talent getting by on looks
