Title: Brian Wilson & Band amazing on Jay Leno
Post by: Trauma-san on December 08, 2005, 07:33:01 AM
Brian Wilson and his band played Jay Leno the other night.  They played "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" at Leno's request from Brian's new Christmas Cd, "What I Really Want For Christmas".  The performance was fucking amazing, this guy's 64 now and WAYYYY over the hill but his voice sounds better than it has in 30 years.

Immediately after the performance, people all over the internet were sure and betting each other drinks and shit that it was a lip sync, because the vocals sounded as good as the studio CD... so for 3 days, everybody's been talking about how they were able to get his voice sampled in like that, and all this shit... until this morning, Brian's wife Melinda posted on his message board that it was 100% live, and then one of the band member's wives posted that they practiced 3 days to get it to sound that great.  Unbelievable performance, his best live performance since the fucking 60's.

Got a link to it?

Caught a glimpse of his Christmas album in the shops the other day, was going to pick it up but then realised how much of a miserable prick I am about Christmas things so didn't bother.

LOL I hear ya.  No, I don't have a clip unfortunately :(  If I find one, I'll post it.

You can listen to tracks from the album for free, though, at www.BrianWilson.com  just click on the main page and all the shit's right there.  There's also a 20 minute "Making of" video you can check out that shows Brian doing some pretty amazing stuff in the studio, like teaching the whole band their harmonies out of his head, and coming up with parts at the piano, etc.
