I have heard the song, and to everyone in that song 50 can say they are a Window Shopper, except one person.
With Nas, in Hip-Hop everyone knows Nas has something 50 wants, and that's the crown King of NY. 50 has the money, but I think it's clear he hit Ja Rule, Nas, Shyne and Jadakiss because in NY they are the ones that are considered on top of the Hip-Hop food chain in one way or another. Like Jay-Z knew he had to battle Nas to remove doubt his the King of NY, and Biggie had clever beef with Nas and the Wu Tang so Biggie could be King, 50 knows that he has to remove doubt from peoples heads he is the King. Nas is the one that has the crown, and ultimately it's 50 that is the Window Shopper looking at what Nas has and dreaming about it.
So my question is, am I not making sense, and what do you think. After all, Nas had all the commercial hits, the battle victories over people like Jay-Z, and now his just adding to his legacy by releasing albums that he wants, (Street Disiple was not made to be a commercial success) and at the same time work with Jay-Z. So is it me, or 50 the true Window Shopper with all of this?

50 the true Window Shopper
-
i dont think we have to worry about Jadakiss being one of the NY rappers on top of the hip hop foodchain anymore
if Biggie was alive he would be by far but since he isnt Nas is
Jadakiss and 50 Cent are the real window shoppers
-
Skill-wise, after Biggie passed away, I think it's safe to label Nas as King of NY. As far as commerical success goes, obviously Jay-Z has that in the bag. 50's doing his thing and he's made millions, but even he realizes he doesn't get much love in New York. To be the King of NY, the city has to love you more than they dislike you, not the other way around. Between Yayo's flop and the Soundtrack not doing too good in sales, G-Unit's falling off big time. Olivia's album flopped so much, they haven't even released it :D Twist It generated no buzz and neither has "So Sexy", video and all.

50 can diss anyone he wants to. But he knows that he's never gonna be considered one of the greats like Nas, Jay, Pac, and Biggie. And i think that alone fucks with his head. He's amounted to nothing more than a gimmick, and people are starting to catch on.
-
Imagine where 50 would be had it not been for "In Da Club". Without that joint lighting his career up, I don't think he would be where he is today.

Word. Dre is most responsible for 50's success, and 50 has the gall to diss him. 50 is at the point to me that he's almost unlistenable. Both Window Shopper and Hustler's Ambition were dope beats, and 50 completely ruined them.

if he wanted to be the king he would dropped something lyrical, he is capable of doing it, he can do better than lil bit and candy shop. i think 50 cent wants to be richer than bill gates, that's all. he won't stay in the rap game for a long time, he'll try to produce movies.

I agree with Jaz-O that 50 was talking about his fans. Nas lives in a mansion, he ain't broke, neither is Jadakiss, Fat Joe, Ja Rule, etc.
-
nas > 50, ja, shyne, jada, fat joe, and any other rapper from new york...or any other rapper period
-
Biggie had beef with Wu Tang?
-
50 could be good if he wanted to, he just chooses not too, which is just sad

I don't know what planet your living on but it aint here, the Soundtrack to GRODT has sold more than 970,000+ Units, JAY-Z has a big rep in hiphop, but 50 has gone WAYYY "BEYOND" Jay-Z and thats FACT, 50 has mad love in NYC at least his concerts are still FULL in NYC, Olivia's LP couldn't have flopped scince it was never released, hate it or love it 50 is the BIGGEST Rap star pieriod, his shows are packed to the fullest, he gets $500,000 a show when was the last time JAY-Z or NAS EVER got that,(and if u say they have please provide the source?)

Biggie had beef with Wu Tang?
I was just wondering the same. Never heard of something like this before...
However, I thought it was pretty obvious 50 battles these rappers simply because he envies them. And of course, you got to take the reigning king off his hill in order to become king of the hill. Not that 50 has the potential to actually do so, yet he gave it a try. He just wished he could make the records he actually wants to make, instead of having to release records about ladies and violence all the time just to please his fan base. He's probably gone a bit too far in that image, since that's all his fanbase wants from him now. He used to have fans who actually liked hiphop...
-
don't get all pseudo-philosophical. 50 got the dollaz, 50 ain't no window shopper. the end.
-
i agree with PE and Jaz, the only window shoppers are 50's fans.

Homie, if you're basing the King Of NY shit based on sales and figures, then 50 definitely's on top right now. But you gotta factor in more than just the numbers. 50 has stated himself, a large portion of NY don't feel him too much. Never mind the constant groupie love, I mean overall. Compared to G-Unit standards, recent album sales are lower than what they would usually sell.
"Olivia's LP couldn't have flopped scince it was never released"
That proves my point right there. That record was set to drop in June. When you're album gets delayed that long, and you've released 2 singles already that generate no buzz, whatchu call that, a success?
-
Damn Jadakiss dont get the props he deserves!! Jada is top 5 dead or alive. Even Nas said it. NAs said his top 5 were Scarface, Jada, Luda, Pac n Big....N wen u got the King of NY sayin ur top 5, theni think u deserve a lil more respect.....Ok his album's werent great but they far from wack, If JAda had a real good in house producer (like if he got swizz 2 do most of his beats) he would b movin waaay more units. Hes let shoddy beats fuck up his albums....But u cant deny He has possibly the most recognisable voice flow and delivery in Hip Hop. On mixtapes Jada Kills it.....Nas is King ov NY no doubt But Jada aint far behind.

taken from
Nas - Last Real Nigga Alive
Y'all don't know about my Biggie wars
Who you thought 'Kick In The Door' was for?
But that's my heart, y'all still trippin of this Jigga shit
Real niggaz listen up and I'ma tell you how the whole thing start
Off top I brung Queens up from hard times
Rockin at the Fever, streets was all mine
It was my version of the blues, droppin our schools
The crack epidemic had rap representin new rules
So I, got in 'em shoes, tried 'em wore them
Wasn't a perfect fit, so I couldn't sport em
Young murderers ride, I knew all them
Jungle got shot, Will died, we was warring
I wrote it in my album
I was 18 when Lake seen the Island
And Lord held me down and
My surroundings started changing
I had a baby, I was making my rounds with AZ
Niggaz started noticing my flow and was open when
The Golden Child closed 'em in with more style than them older men
Puff tried to start a label, Prince Rakeem had formed Wu-Tang
Snoop and Dre had a new thang
So Puff drove his new Range through Queensbridge Projects
He let me drive it, before Ready to Die hit
BIG and I hit blunts performing at the Arc
Next thing you knew, BIG blew and all the balling starts
He had Kim and his crew, I found Fox
Only niggaz in New York with number one charts
B.I.G. was ahead of his time, him and Raekwon my niggaz
But dig it, they couldn't get along
That's when Ghostface said it on the Purple tape
Bad Boy biting Nas album cover way(?)
BIG told me Rae was stealing my slang
And Rae told me out in Shaolin BIG would do the same thing
But I borrowed from both them niggaz
Jigga started to flow like us, but hit with 'Ain't No Niggaz'
Had much Versace swagger
B.I.G. admired the Brooklyn knight and it took him in as Iceberg the rapper
Today don't know nothing, about this bullshit
There's more shit than wanting to be this King of New York shit
-
^ pretty sums it up, 50 can't even come close to the level nas is on, but I do enjoy listening to 50's old shit, imagine if he still rapped like that, still kicking it with nas, fuck rapping bout the money, getting his lyrical level up, that would be fucking dope....

50 cent is more than likely close to 100 mill... i dont think he is a window shopper.
