Vidic set for £7m Man Utd switch
Manchester United are close to finalising Serbia & Montenegro international defender Nemanja Vidic's £7m transfer from Spartak Moscow.
Vidic, 24, has passed his medical and agreed terms with United, and is now only waiting for his work permit.
Providing there is no problem with his permit he should be available for the televised FA Cup third round tie at non-League Burton Albion on 8 January.
Vidic joined Spartak from Red Star Belgrade in July 2004.
The Serbian is part of his national side's "famous four" defence, which conceded just one goal whilst qualifying for the World Cup.
Liverpool and Serie A club Fiorentina had also been reportedly interested in signing Vidic.

nah, o shea doesnt offer as much going forward while playing full back. Silvestre is a liabilty when playing center back but as a left back he is pretty solid.
