As promised, I have the results of our Album Of The Year 2005 voting for ya'll. Thanks to the overwhelming ammount of visitors who took the time to send in their vote. However, the voting wasn't even close. As all of you probably suspected, the undisputed winner of 2005 is The Game with his multi-platinum G-Unit/Aftermath debut "The Documentary".
DJ Quik came in second with his critically acclaimed "Trauma" album. Tied in for the 3rd place are "Dillinger & Young Gotti Pt. 2: Tha Saga Continuez" by D.P.G. and The Jacka with his impressive album "The Jack Artist".
Honorable mentions go to Warren G for "In The Mid-Nite Hour", to Little Brother for "The Minstrell Show", and to Daz Dillinger for "Tha Dogg Pound Gangsta LP".
Here go the top 3 once again:
1) The Game - The Documentary
2) DJ Quik - Trauma
3) D.P.G. - Dillinger & Young Gotti Pt. 2: Tha Saga Continuez
The Jacka - The Jack Artist
Thanks to all the voters, it's appreciated! We look forward to a new year, packed with hot verses and banging beats. The most anticipated album is without a doubt Dr. Dre's "Detox", incase it drops this year.
I hope you're all getting used to our new look, if you have any questions or difficulties, don't hesitate to email me.

I dont think Tha Dogg Pound Gangsta Lp deserves a mention to be honest. I thought it was a weak effort put together all wrong.
I know this is a westcoast site but i think Tha Carter II deserved to be top 3
-
Hey, I didn't pick the winners...
In the update, I made it clear that you can vote for all Hip-Hop albums, not just West. However only very few voted for non-west albums... I think the Carter didn't get more than a few votes.
I was surprised that DPG and Dogg Pound Gangsta LP are up there, but hey, that's how people voted, so that's the results!
-
I know that, i think there was some biased opinions from the voters though. It was to be expected.
Oh well, 05 is past, lets get focused on 06
-
All opinions are biased.
We're here cause we love westcoast music... what results would you expect? If this same poll was made in a eastcoast website, there wouldn't be no westcoast albums in it. It's obvious.
-
the first 2 are credible choices (though of course there are biased ones), but third : Dpg album :-X
-
Glad to see The Documentary on top it deserves it... that album is SOLID best of 05 easily
-
Lets hope Doctor's Advocate's gonna get the chance to compete for album of 2006!

Lets hope Doctor's Advocate's gonna get the chance to compete for album of 2006!
fuck that, I'd rather have "Detox" album of '06 than another fuckin Game cd
-
AAAAaaaaaaahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahaha @ that weak ass DPG record making it to #3 ;D
I think you should have made it more clearly that this wasn't only about westcoast albums. I'm pretty sure Common and Kanye would have been some great competitors for Game. I just didn't get my vote in because
1) the thing wasn't marketed right, I only found out on Jan 2nd that you guys were doing this
2) didn't want to give my vote to Game anyways ;D
-
Lets hope Doctor's Advocate's gonna get the chance to compete for album of 2006!
Game won't release an album in 2006, with the current policy at Interscope when it comes to release dates it's impossible
-
The Dogg Pound Gangsta LP was some great West Coast shit, I hadn't heard straight west coast stuff like that all year, aside from Foesum's album, which deserved an honorable metion as well.
-
What the fuck is this!
D.P.G. - Dillinger & Young Gotti Pt. 2: Tha Saga Continuez on #3...
This album is by far the worst cd I ever heard.. I'm a big dpg fan but this album you should get it free by a bottle of juice!
It's straight garbage...

^^ Real talk...

i think its a great album, mine of the year
-
I think the DPG album was cool.... nothing extraordinary but I liked majority of it, it isn't garbage
"Trauma" to me had the most substance from what I got last year
-
dissapointed trauma didint come out on top !
-
Trauma & The Documentary were my two favorites this year so I'm down with that.
-
lol @ daz & dpg album making the list
-
Yeah, with them getting recognition like that, we're sure they'll put out more weak efforts like that, instead of trying harder to come with something decent... Don't underestimate DubCNN's influence! :P

Yeah everyone already knew who will be on the 1st place, and the 2nd i'm for it...but that dpg on #3...I was praying for common's be or btnh-bone brothers to be on the 3rd
-
lol @ daz & dpg album making the list
why? jus cause u dont like it, the majority of people voted 4 it so its not really funny is it?
-
lol @ daz & dpg album making the list
lol @ Game making the list. I know everybody is excited about a cali rapper makin a little noise but god damn, can we support somebody with a little talent? To much name droppin and expired cali stereotypes for me. At least the Quik record had some real music on it.

your telling me that those albums, with like 2, 3 or 4 good songs on em, should be in the top 5 of 2005 and are better than triangulation station, be, the craft, true and livin, grandmasters, awol, late registration, etc, etc? like some other guys said: it's garbage
