PG Gary Payton…Gerald Fitch/Qyntel Woods
SG Dwyane Wade…Rasual Butler/Shandon Anderson
SF Eddie Jones…Jason Kapono/Dorrel Wright
PF Alonzo Mourning…Udonis Haslem/Wayne Simien
C Shaquille O’Neal…Michael Doleac/Earl Barron
Coach: Pat Riley
...Easily contenders. I dunno why they felt the need to trade for Williams and Walker...Maybe had they known Payton would later sign, the move for Williams would never have been made and the Heat would've had an amazing squad...Too bad for Miami, they chose to rebuild an excellent team instead of just adding to it.
-
I don't think Zo could hold up all season as a starter.
-
The man is extremely tough and well built, I think he can...And even if he doesn't, Haslem is really their primary starter. I just thought Mourning in the starting line-up would make them tougher and more intimidating. He started all the games at center until Shaq came back, and fared pretty damn well...I presume Haslem would start anyways, but the starting 5 I listed is legendary. Basically an all-star squad.
-
I'm pretty certain Zo's kidney would explode. The heat def. could have went without the trade with the grizz though. The walker trade wasn't so bad.
-
The Heat have the best roster in the NBA regardless, their only problem is that they don't have the best team.
-
I agree Eddie Jones is a baller, since the laker days! They should of kept Eddie man.......now hes stuck with the grizzlies! Hes the o.g. laker!!!
-
Shaq ran him out of town just like he did here in LA
-
thast tru walker i washed up
-
Blame Shaq. It looks like he hates Eddie. First he forced West to trade him, when they were in Los Angeles and now they traded Eddie from Shaq's team again. I've always hated Shaq for that: Eddie was my fav Laker back in the days and i still love him.

8) And Nick The Quik ;D..I love the O.G Lakers....Seddele Three and C.Cebballos and Elden Cambelle  Goofy ass nigga  Those Laker teams before Shaq & Kobe got to L.A were tight 8) ..
Anyways..
I remember Shaq Saying that he's "tired of guys ( ;) ;) Eddie Jones) Taking 1 leged fade away Jumpers,Eddie Jones use to that shit all the time.
BTW,Don't You mean "Shaq<--- shoulda' never traded Eddie Jones"?
-
ya i dont know why they traded eddie jones..... its beyond me
Walker is Garbage they need to trade him for a CBA player or somethin , im suprised they dont call a moving screen on him lol have u ever seen him set a pick?
hes trash dont konw why they even picked him up

That trade was combined...Heat lost Eddie Jones, Rasual Butler, Albert Miralles, Qyntel Woods, and two second-round draft picks in the trade. In exchange they got Antoine Walker, James Posey, Jason Williams, Andre Emmett and the draft rights to Roberto Duenas...I believe that if the trade would have not went down and they would have simply signed Payton (and maybe even re-signed Damon Jones), they woulda' had an amazing team...Especially that legendary starting 5 I posted.
-
I've never liked that trade, man. Never.
-
Yup...All it did was fuck up their chances of winning a title. Simply signing Payton woulda' been the missing link. Unfortunately for them, they went on and rebuilt the team. A team that lost in the final minutes of a game 7 eastern conference finals... ::)

Laker fans should know all about legendary teams.

Yea, but this one woulda' been different...They all already had chemistry from the previous season, the only addition woulda' been Payton...

That's the biggest mistake. They were 1-2 players away from the title. Not 8-9.

Cmon now, they still gon make the East Finals, and lose to the Pistons, like last year. No matter what they do, Pistons too strong, rest of the east inferior.
(Except for major injuries, of course)

If they'll make the East Finals and loose (and Detroit looks better), they'll still be 1 win more than the pre-Shaq season. A failure, imo. If you get Shaq and all them other players and if you fire Van Gundy, you gotta make it to the Finals. At least.
-
Well there's just a big gap between Detroit and teams like New Jersey, Cavs, Indiana... right now. The current Heat would kick the pre-Shaq Heat's ass like it aint no tomorrow, but the Pistons are on another level regardless.

That's the point...With the line-up I posted, they woulda' beat the Pistons...They just simply fucked up their chances with that "biggest trade in NBA history"...
-
Just give the Heat time, they're a brand new team, I think they'll make the finals, they'll be just as tough as the Pistons come playoff time, that's just my input
-
Just give the Heat time
The only problem is that Shaq isn't immortal. And without him the Heat are worse than the Lakers.

Currently, The Two-Headed Monster > Out-of-shape Shaq

Currently? It's been 2 years and running now..

I'm talking about Kwame Brown and Chris Mihm. Pat Riley referred to the combo of Kwame & Mihm as "The Two-Headed Monster"...LOL
-
Oh. Well, i dunno about it. I'm just sure that Shaq is, as predicted, totally out of shape. The one i've seen against the Lakers made me a little bit sad, somehow. I mean i couldn't believe he was the same one who used to dominate with us. He fell the fuck off.

^^Yeah but who won?

Heat. But look, that's not even the point. Shaq looked horrible. It was been Mourning who totally changed the game for them.
Mourning >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Shaq out of shape.
