Nate dogg's second joint Music&Me is a commercial flop,only 1 single/video......after that,no more promotion for this album.
An Elektra records fault or this album is really a flop?
-
The album sucked. It had a lot of promotion, plus Nate was on everybodys shit for a year preceding its release, yet it still didn't sell well. That's pretty bad.
-
im still suprised at how bad it sold, i was commercial an he was all over mtv on others peoples shit, i would of figured platnium but he didnt even come close to gold, how did his album flop like that
-
it never even made the shelves over here.
-
I can honestly say that I feel bad that this album flopped. Like.. I kinda feel like how I am guessing Nate must feel .. Sad :(
Also, I own this album OG and showed my support. Since this topic is about how it sold, I would hope that those who feel it sucked also owns it. If you dont own it, then dont speak up on it. We still gotta support the West.

Yeah true, good point, I wonder why it flopped, it wasnt that bad, I mean, I liked the album.

I don't understand this at all. The thing is Nate has tried to go more commercial and I think that he has lost some hardcore G Funk fans because of it. Come on I mean no Warren G on a Nate Dogg album was fucked up. Also the remix to I Got Luv should be on the album as well as the original cause that is a tight joint.

i got both of them while i was in the US...
the album had everything to sell good! the guest appearances, the beats etc.. specially the track with JD...
i still dont get it :/

Wrong featurings and wrong producers in my opinion.
-
Yo Nima Bang Or Ball came out in germany.
and if ya dont know now you know! LOL
And yea I feel sorry for Nate
His album deserves atleast gold.
The bad thing is he helps peepz like dre snoop for their albums
But when it comes to his own album they dont help him really
I mean that dre track wasnt all that .
and look what nate did for dre since ten years. sad sad sad :'(

So Tom, about how many albums has it sold?
-
even though it came out in dec 2001 the end of the year
it was the biggest flop of last year! i am real disappointed wit tha cd
-
NO WARREN G ON THE ALBUM? IF THEY WOULD'VE MADE A GOOD SONG LIKE REGULATE OR NOBODY DOES IT BETTER AND PUT OUT A SINGLE/VIDEO FOR IT, THE ALBUM WOULD'VE HAD A CHANCE TO BLOW UP. IT WAS STILL A GOOD ALBUM, BUT IT OBVIOUSLY COULD'VE BEEN BETTER.

I buy just about everything new that comes out and I was very dissapointed with this album. Actually, I was dissapointed with G-funk classics as well. Where are his songs like "One more day", and "Why" at? Those are the Nate songs that's bangin'!
-
The reason Music & Me flopped is because the promotion was ridiculously horrible.
I would of never even heard of the album if I didn't get the hype off the internet.
The only time I saw the video for "I Got Love" was when I was shoppin' for shoes at Footaction in the Burbank mall.
The only promotion he did get was on the radio.
-
ok well i think that the lead single "i got love" was the wrong song to pick for a lead single on the album...also, what the fuck is fabolous doing on a nate dogg album? isnt nate dogg LBC, DPGC, u know nate dogg the dogg pound gangsta wouldnt have fabolous on there...and lil mo? c'mon...nate needed snoop and warren and dre, kurupt and daz and the family to help with his album...i wonder if he didnt want them to, or if this album was made by the record label he's on?
it tryd to be too commercial, and i really dont think nate has a lot of commercial fans, so that is why i think it flopped...it didnt sound like a nate dogg album to me. :'(

That represents exactly how I feel about Nate. VERY WELL PUT TOGETHER. But please support him by picking up a copy. We can still do what we can now that we've addressed it. Pz.

yeah its a shame, it wasnt a bad album, i liked it, i kinda feel sorry for nate :(
-
to bad it didnt sell, i liked it tho'. And indeed warren should have been on the album.
-
nate been doin too much commercial shit, he's lost his root's, that's why his album was a flop, i agree wit the peeps that say that he needs his o.g's with him, that's what his tru fan's want to see, not some 13 year old fabulous lovers...
NATE GET YOUR HEAD OUT YOUR ASS AND REUNITE WITH UR FAM!!!! lol
peace
-
ohh king suge im not even gonna go 2 my level, but if u thought that tha new nate album was classic you must be smokin crack wit king suge
-
i thought the album was tight, shit bumps in my ride...the cd would've definately blown up if they would've released 'ring the alarm' with jd, that song was off the hinges and would've been a club thumper till the summer...i thought the best song on the cd was the one that goes
'i'm from the ghetto of the compton streets/
you don't wanna rumble with the real og's/
man ill plant you like a chronic seed/
and your girl done ran away with me/
i can show you how to catch these freaks/
i can show you how to beat these streets/
i can show you how to crack that safe/
i can show you how to break that bank/'
some lyrics might be off a bit, peace.
-
'i'm from the ghetto of the compton streets/
??? ??? ???

I think he mean concret streets

I thought this album was weak, because of the reasons you mentioned, but the sad thing is that future Nate Dogg albums might be like this. As mentioned before, DPGC is different to different people. Daz won't be workin with Nate anytime soon, since according to him, Nate and Daz aren't on good terms. I also heard Kurupt and Nate haven't been on good terms since Kurupt rejoined Tha Row. I feel bad for Nate and Warren G, because when their friends blew up again (Snoop and Dre), they didn't come back to help them out.
-
The video for I Got Luv and the remix of it were shown over here in the UK on Trevor Nelsons Late Lick.
That is the only time that I have seen the remix video but I have seen the video for the original version loads of times on MTV Base.
However I have never seen it on Mtv or Mtv Hits which is I suppose what most of the commercial music fans watch.
Anyways it is a shame and hopefully his next album will be more Warren and Snoop, in the form of the 213 reunion album which is gonna be sooooooooo tight.
-

If it wasn't for Dre, Nate Dogg would be unheard of today.
-
:P
This album was a flop. It hasn't gotten any rotation from me in weeks. He stepped away from his roots and he tried to appeal to a whole new crowd. It didn't work and I hope he got the hint. His next album should only include the DPGC and LBC family and should only have the likes of Dre,Warren,Daz and even Battlecat and Fred Wreck handeling the production.
As far as buying another copy of Music and Me :'( :'( :'(
Sorry, it would be a waste of my money and time :'(
Nate Dogg get your head right ;D
-
yeah its a shame, it wasnt a bad album, i liked it, i kinda feel sorry for nate :(
word, it wasnt hardcore rap...but it was good
dat sux fo nate, but i mean hes got dough from all his guest appearances
-
many of yall mite not agree wit me and dont get me wrong either. i luv nate but i dont think he has wat it takes to make it as a solo artist. he shines thru on collabs and thats where hes best. maybe he should come up wit a collab wit warren g or dpg o sumpin
-
Maybe the thing for Nate would be a collabo-album on which he recreates magic collabos such as "Oh No", Lay Low etc. and hooks up again wit Warren, Snoop & Kurupt. Nate Dogg would probably sell as hell if he went pop, but when he sings "nigga" "bitch" "fuck" etc., the commercial stations won't buy it, as they would without all the cursing. It's fucked up really, that you can't be allowed to curse on a record.

Yup I agree totally. Nate usually sounds great on hooks or guest verses, but give him a whole track solo and he becomes repetitive and boring (not always, but a lot of the time).
Add that to the fact that this new album was too pop for the gangsta fans, and too gangsta for pop fans, and there are your reasons for a poorly-selling album.
