it doesn't really reflect where i think certain producers are at the moment as i haven't been that keen on dres stuff as of late but i think the best beats in '05 from westcoast producers (not neccesarily straight westcoast music) were the game how we do (im aware this leaked in 04 i think??) /50 cent outta control remix (dre) and black mercedes/ get down (quik)
maybe not a common set of choices maybe cause all of trauma is pretty damn good but the best ones in my opinion. im interested to know what productions other people would pick out as their favourites...
-
hehe, I was gonna say Get Down... that shit still gives me goose bumps!
Total Auto is a damn good beat too!

I would die for you - J-Steez, infact hes probably one of the most under noticed/rated producers of 2005. Fredwreck has some good ones, same with Dre.

Oh yea, and I dont know who did this beat, but that Bitches Aint Shit beat off Crunk Juice is a SLUMPER. It may or may not have been done by a West Coast producer but its definitely one of the best West Coast beats of the year. Came out in 2004 but fuck it.
-
From Dre, I'm going with "Start From Scratch" and "Outta Control". Quik dropped some serious heat on the Trauma album.
Quik's "California" gets my vote for best Quik beat in '05. It might sound crazy but, that might be my favorite Quik beat of all-time. It's one of those simple but addictive beats. I can't wait for the instrumental of that one.
-
J Wells : One Shot Kill
Quik : Ladies and Thugs
Quik : Califrornia
-
quik - intro for roger and when did snoop's ashes to ashes come out?...that beat was dope

If I could only chose 1 beat then it would be- Soopafly - Bangin' Westcoast.
-
i dont see why you guys are so excited about J.Wells - One Shot Kill with Jayo felony rapping
it's a pretty basic beat, its just a looped piano with drums and sound effects here and there...
simple beat imo
-

Steez produced some heat last year. Have a party was one of the better mainstream beats. Quik produced a great album. Doc had some good production, but most of it wasn't Dre.
