Title: Detox or NWA album: Which would you rather have?
Post by: _That_Cracka_J on April 14, 2006, 06:20:13 PM
It's not like either of these two albums will ever come out, but I'd defo want a new NWA album.  That would be the shit.

Detox could be a Hiphop Masterpiece while NWA could be another west coast disapointment

True. Or vise versa.

Detox.

It will probably change the state of mainstream Hip-Hop once again.

I just can't see an N.W.A. album working properly.  N.W.A. was all about the chemistry and the combined impact of Cube, Eazy, Dre, Ren, and Yella all together, that's what made them so great (and once Cube left, shit definitely fell apart, at least lyrically).  Without those five together, it just ain't N.W.A. to me.  And the reunion tracks ("Chin Check" and "Hello") were excellent, but not outstanding.  N.W.A. would do harm to their legacy if they tried releasing another album.

At least with "Detox", Dre can focus on just pushing the boundaries with production and doing it with fresh voices on his new tracks...what made his other solo albums so great was just listening to him reinvent hip-hop and push the envelope.  He can do that on his own; with N.W.A., it seems almost impossible.  So I'd prefer "Detox."

Though I gotta admit, the proposed title for the new N.W.A. album, "Not These Niggaz Again", sounds pretty cool.

Dre is actually my favorite rapper/producer, but on some real shit I'd rather have the NWA album

because they're all getting older and no one knows how long they got on this earth so I wish they

would go for it. (NWA would never ever be a Westcoast disapointment, get that out of here)

I'd prefer Detox for the same reasons mentioned above. And if Detox features Cube & Ren (I don't really think Yella would fit there, but who knows) we would have a lil' bit of N.W.A. probably for the last time.

An album fully produced by Dr. Dre with Cube and Ren on the mic > an album fully produced by Dre with 50 Cent, Eminem, Busta Rhymes, G-Unit, D-12, Eve, etc.

Detox first for me, could have an NWA tune on the album and see how that gets received then follow it up with an NWA album

To be really fucking honest... I believe both would turn out disappointing. Detox might only commercialise rap music further and N.W.A will bring NOTHING new to the table.

I don't think that a new N.W.A. album would have nearly as much impact as the initial albums did. It would be real dope if they came together and recorded some new material, but I'd much rather have them make guest spots on Detox. I'm all for moving ahead and trying some new shit, as opposed to going back to the same formulas. Hip Hop should evolve, in that the production is always fresh and it's not always the same thing we've heard before.

Look at 213. They waited over 10 years to finally release an album. I'm sure that if they dropped it in 1994 instead of 2004, it would've been a classic album, and not just a decent one. If N.W.A. released something in the year 2000, it would've been pretty big, but now...I don't think that's what everyone wants to hear. Cube's doing his thing, Dre's doing his thing...my only hope is that Cube spits 16 on "Detox" if it actually comes out. I'll be cool with that.

detox cuz it seems as if dres already done some work on this project and is just striving for perfection before he wants to release it. nwa would be dope but i think it would t ake longer to come out and if it did come out soon then they most likely rushed it.

How sick would it to be to hear Ren spit flames once again over Dre beats...i hope the fuckin album really comes out... :-\

Why would he have these, sorry to say it, washed up rappers that havent done shit for a few years now. Ok Kurupt might still surprise us but fuck having Daz, Kurupt and Soopa on it. Their time has passed.

Nope. Cube is still ripping tracks as we heard in the past few weeks, Ren hasnt rapped for a year or so but he ripped every guest apperance that he was on in the past 5 years and Dre is still a great producer.

I wouldn't care, all I want is an album where Dre does all the producing.

Well as we all see Daz is back, his solo tracks for So So Gansgta are :o & lol at Soopafly, when did he fall off???He still rips mics, he knows how to sing, produce plus he has a character on the mic.He could easily sell on a major.& to answer the thread question, I'd prefer a new NWA album.

I'd rather have Detox.  Eazy E is dead, so an NWA album would never be the same (although it would be good, and I'd like it)... but Dr. Dre is still alive and better than ever... so you still have the possibility of a Dre album that's as good as anything.
