LOS ANGELES MTV recently organized the Great Day in Atlanta, the Source had its own Great Day in Houston, and on Saturday, it was a veritable Great Day in Los Angeles when Snoop Dogg called just about every artist on the West Coast to appear in the Dogg Pound Gangsta Clique's video for "Cali Iz Active."
"Snoop opened his little black book and called everybody up," Snoop's cousin Daz Dillinger said at the clip's Elysian Park set. "I'm asking who's coming up here."
"We're still wondering who's coming," Kurupt offered. "It's a mystery."
Shortly after the waiting and anticipation was over, cars started pulling up with the likes of Ice Cube, Too Short, Warren G, Xzibit and Strong Arm Steady, Evidence, Dilated Peoples, JT the Bigga Figga, WC, and DJ Quik.
"This reminds me of the ['Nuthin' But A] "G" Thang' video," Quik, standing next to Xzibit, said of the camaraderie, "and that video is like 12 years old."
Later, most of the guys in the video filmed a picnic scene together as well as some DPGC performance shots.
"This was how the West was one," Snoop said, surrounded by all his homies, referencing the title of his West Coast unity tour (see "Snoop And Game Beef Up Their How The West Was One Tour"). "We all love each other, we're all one movement. It's beautiful."
"We always had a lot of love for each other, but Los Angels keeps it spread out," Cube observed. "So we coming together. We realized that's its all one coast, we need to galvanize the West Coast. Show we all need to support each other."
As to what "Cali Iz Active" means, Kurupt said, "The song represents the West Coast as whole. We're pushing as one positive thing."
"You getting busy, you in trouble, it's a lot of stuff going on," Daz added. "You've got the police situation in Cali, the race issue in California, Congress. It's time for us to step up and show what's really going on. We're letting you know it's active."
The vibe was so great during the video shoot, all the artists were talking about going on tour together. Ice Cube has started his own tour with Daz and Kurupt and the Clipse, and Snoop has been jumping on some dates.
Dogg Pound Gangsta Clique's self-titled LP is due June 27.

yeah they reached out to game, but i dunno where he was at.. and dre as usual is pretty elusive..
but MTV will be having a segment on this, they got a lot of interviews with cube,quik,snoop,and all them, so its going to be real tight.
I havent watched the great day in Atlanta, so i dunno if the segments are going to be similar.

I guess it is a lil weird that Snoop can take the tyme out of his schedule to honor Dre with those lifetime acheievements awards but if Snoop places a call to Dre he won't take the tyme out of his schedule to do something...
That being said were all presuming Dre got a phone call which may not be the case but were all pretty sure he did LOL That being said I think this shoot would have been alot more intersting If Suge and Spider got invites LOL

Rappers are busy people, so not all of them can make a date unless given an adequete amount of time (which varies depending on who it is). But I imagine cats like Nate Dogg and Mack 10 should have a pretty open schedule. As far as Dr. Dre, it kind of sucks that he wasn't there, but honestly who actualy expected him to be there? He's a really sheltered indivdual. Plus he dosen't really align himself with the west coast these days. He's internationaly known, he's on top of all these fools.

As you said who truely expected Dre to be there .. im not disappointed because i wasnt expectin him there .. This video clip is a landmark regardless ..But i would have at least thought it would have been a good PR stunt for Game to get in the video since hes been hated on by every1 and there pet dogg the past 12 months .. This would have shown that he can spend sometime with a group of artists from his on coast which at least respect him
Then again maybe he was worried about getting checked by a few people for his Ķ brought the west coast back 'statements ahah

If anything a lot of these artists owe Dre. But I disagree that it won't amount to anything. Sure, we won't being seeing any true progress from this, but it shows a little unity, which down the road can equal something. Good publicity too.

i know aftermath is based in cali, but i guarantee dre has an aftermath office in NY. simply because it is a better business location for the work that he has been doing over the past few years. (G-unit, Em, etc.)
I doubt he does, on Eminems last album the work was done in 2 weeks in Florida and he's hardly worked with G-Unit.
